Van Demark, a "Model" Fit for the Bills OL?
LABILLBACKER replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm sorry but Brandon has to stop going after cheap/development OLineman. Josh is basically getting punished for being athletic. -
No way I'm extending Tre or Dion. I'm not even sure Dawkins will be here next year.

Nuggets of Infor From Bills Practice 8/22
LABILLBACKER replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bout time -
In Josh's first 2 seasons he had to run because the OL & WR's were below average. Those first 2 years developed Josh's athletic persona. Diggs, Gabe & Dawson came on board and we saw a slight decrease in running. Both designed and scrambles. But unfortunately very little changed in protection in years 3,4 & 5. We've had a 22-25th ranked OL his entire tenure. You can't expect him to extinguish all his persona. So this season could very well be challenging for him as McB want him more "pocket oriented". He's on the cover of Madden and getting all these commercials because he jumps over people like a YouTube video. Father time will tell Josh to back off but these next 2-3 years is not that time. If we lose a small amount of longevity so be it. Let Josh be Josh and do better on the OL.

Is he??

He played very well tonight. His receivers dropped some late. If he gets cut I'd consider?

Is Matt Barkley a better fit than Kyle Allen in this offense?
LABILLBACKER replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
We absolutely must jump on the waiver wire on cut down day. Barkley & K.Allen combined don't even make a decent backup. -
As long as Dorian is the first guy rotated in. I'm tired of waiting around for Dodson, Bernard or Spector to step up and take this position. And we better bring someone in after cut down day.

As a Bills fan of the NFL, what keeps your fandom?
LABILLBACKER replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
You still need good to great coaching to get over the hump. Brady, Montana and Mahomes all needed quality if not HOF caliber HC's to exemplify their amazing skills. Josh is a HOF caliber qb but I still see his coaches holding him back. I guess honestly I could select all 4 options all at once. -
Preseason is Meaningless, History Shows
LABILLBACKER replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not going to panic but I'm also not going to ignore the penalties, the OT concerns or who the hell will play LB next to Milano. The incessant Diggs drama, mostly manufactured by the media, will just have to play out. -
Yeah he was very serviceable getting Josh's ulner nerve torn up last year.

Dorsey's fate will be decided this season. With Shell and Doyle out we're already in trouble on the OL. Dawkins looks slow & fat. All I know is as several posters have already stated, this lack of offensive identity is not sustainable for Josh and his weapons.

Bills Signing OL Garrett McGhin (who)
LABILLBACKER replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have all the faith in the world Boogie can play RT. -
I would like to believe that McD calling defensive plays will be at the very least a slight upgrade over Frazier. We should see more man press and aggressive blitzing. We have to assume Von won't be ready early. So Floyd & Groot will have to get off to a good start. Obviously the MLB situation is still bad and unknown. Milano must call the plays. This isn't even debatable. If we can't disrupt Mahomes, Burrow, Hurts and Lawrence it's not going to be a 13 win season.

Draconator....thank you so much 👍 for sharing all this information. My son (31) suffers from Aspergergers but is now exhibiting Bipolar 1 behavior since the pandemic. Trying to get him to agree to (trust) medications will be a challenge. Have you heard anything about Thorazine?

Well that was an absolute crap fest - PostGame thread

I don't think Dawson had aspirations of being a RT when he was drafted. -
What are your top TWO takeaways from the Bills-Steelers game?
LABILLBACKER replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
For every year McB ask Josh to do it all, they will be shaving years off the end of his career. The OL is still a huge issue. 5+ years to fix this and these guys are still flailing around. Absolutely unbelievable? -

Sean will always be the champion of process, character and culture. But his game day coaching skills will always be mediocre. I know the die hard apologists don't want to hear this but even they will see the truth. -
Where's my pair of rose colored glasses that everyone else seems to have gotten. No fair....

Unfortunately in sports once most athletes get paid their level of motivation wanes. McDermott must instill at least some semblance of discipline, motivation whatever you want to call it. That Cincy playoff game was embarrassing. Last night was very sloppy and undisciplined. Yeah the players have to figure it out but the HC plays a part too.

Cap Dollars - Von Miller or FA OL improvement
LABILLBACKER replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
That should've been the plan from day 1 (2018). Even this year with the guard upgrades we still have huge issues on the outside. And once the dust settles it's likely we'll have another 25th rated OL. I love the idea of acquiring Von but if he's going to break down it will be a disaster as his cap could've gone to OL. We'll see? -
Game Day Thread? Bills @ Steelers 8/19
LABILLBACKER replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dion gave up 3 sacks and 30 pressures last year. And he's considered our best olineman. Starting Year 6 of a 25th ranked OL.
