I can live without Gabe for a couple weeks but we gotta get Douglas & Dodson by divisionals.

Jan 11. 2017: Sean McDermott is hired to coach the Bills
LABILLBACKER replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, Boyd and Dalton got us in the playoffs just long enough to watch Tyrod put up a whopping 7 pts. Other than ending the drought, that playoff season was a joke. -

Wild Card Weekend - Wild Card Weather
LABILLBACKER replied to WEATHER DOT COM's topic in The Stadium Wall
We haven't run the ball well (Cook) since Dallas. -
So true...the full Josh Allen experience includes legendary plays and many bone head decisions. He's a cross between Brett Favre and John Elway. And as we've heard 1000x, the ONLY team that can beat Buffalo IS Buffalo. Josh and the turnovers is a huge part of this narrative with some coaching mistakes sprinkled in. It's a catch 22. If we ask him to tone down the reckless abandon, we lose the playmaking element. If we don't expect him to ever tone it down, we suffer through 1 score games with multiple turnovers.

Good job Virgil...pretty much exactly what I would have said. Plans for a dome should've been finalized 5 years ago when we saw what we had in Josh. This ridiculous and romantic idea that bad weather games somehow helps us is completely moronic and selfish. Bad weather games (wind, rain, snow) completely neutralizes any big advantage we have in Josh. And for those that can't see this, I can't help you. Find Diggs and Shakir on shorter routes. Reduce the turnovers and we win.

Sam Martin named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month
LABILLBACKER replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
End of season stats has Martin ranked 29th in both avg and net. We can do better to flip the field. I'm not sold on Martin just because he's figured some things out these last few weeks. It's like saying let's just re-sign Gabe because of the KC game. Season long consistency has to count for something. -
Brandon Beane was right and we were wrong.
LABILLBACKER replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen, Kincaid are bona-fide differences makers. Cook is improving but still is a work in progress (drops). If Gabe wants to return on a discounted contract fine but for me personally I want him replaced for a more consistent WR2. Where Beane really shines in spectacular fashion is the low end fa pick ups like Douglas. Unfortunately Elam is a bust...it happens. The Von deal was a big swing that now is looking like a disaster cap wise. In my eyes Beane has done a fantastic job but he won't be the one deciding what happens to McD down the road. -
Exactly, start by getting the right cleats out there this time. Be willing to run and checkdown. Have hot reads ready on zero blitz. And re-train Gabe how to identify a zero blitz.

Why did clock stop after Allen’s amazing 3rd and 13 run
LABILLBACKER replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly, it penalizes the team not getting penalized. Obviously stop the clock to resolve the penalty, but start the clock once the ball is set. It is an ad break. Pretty much everything set up in an NFL game centers around advertising. -
The pass to Johnson at the end of the first half...
LABILLBACKER replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm more disappointed in Ty for running such a shallow route. It should've been deeper putting him at the goal-line on contact. At least giving him a chance to extend the ball. -

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – And Down Go the Dolphins –
LABILLBACKER replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Harty's return was exactly like Taron's. Absolutely explosive and game changing. Collinsworth was correct in saying Josh should've thrown the 3 yard flat pass to Lenny for the 1st down on the 2nd INT. And even if Gabe doesn't trip, that pass is getting picked easily. McD did a fantastic job adjusting to Mike's RPO in the 2nd half. We need to embrace the checkdowns against Pitt. The deeper stuff will come later. Pass with tempo. -
Watching all the talking head shows...
LABILLBACKER replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pretty much Eisen, Rome and to an extent Cowherd are the only ones that get it. They're not wrapped up in this obsessive lazy TO narrative. Let Nick Wright go on his anti- Bills tour. Bring the disrespect and bulletin board material. Bring it all... -
What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?
LABILLBACKER replied to Dick_Cheney's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even with no wind, McD doesn't allow Bass an opportunity outside of 48-50. Meanwhile other teams (Philly/Elliott) are allowing their kickers to attempt 60 yarders in the rain. Go figure? -
What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?
LABILLBACKER replied to Dick_Cheney's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's the head coaches responsibility to motivate his team. Especially against an opponent you should handle based on talent and personnel. We barely beat weaker teams like NYG, Chargers and NE. I guess you gotta ask yourself why this team is incapable of getting motivated against lower teams? And yes, I'm totally expecting a "closer than it should be" victory by us because of this unsolvable mystery. -
That would work better too!

I have no problem Josh sliding over to the B gap but you can still line up a big ugly (Spencer) behind him. More leverage than a 200lb RB.

What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?
LABILLBACKER replied to Dick_Cheney's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we lose at home again to a 3rd string qb and a Steeler team without TJ, all the goodwill McD received after the Dunne piece will disappear. -
....in NE

We did have a blueprint with Tre and he was rushed back too quickly. We should've just just allowed 12 months for full recovery plus an additional 6 months for rehab & strength. Force feeding him now and over these last several weeks was a senseless and greedy strategy. Realistically we're probably only going to get 1 full healthy year out of Von starting this September. After that we'll most likely be dumping the remainder of his contract. Unfortunately the bold risk backfired on Beane.
