THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – And Down Go the Dolphins –
LABILLBACKER replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Harty's return was exactly like Taron's. Absolutely explosive and game changing. Collinsworth was correct in saying Josh should've thrown the 3 yard flat pass to Lenny for the 1st down on the 2nd INT. And even if Gabe doesn't trip, that pass is getting picked easily. McD did a fantastic job adjusting to Mike's RPO in the 2nd half. We need to embrace the checkdowns against Pitt. The deeper stuff will come later. Pass with tempo. -
Watching all the talking head shows...
LABILLBACKER replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pretty much Eisen, Rome and to an extent Cowherd are the only ones that get it. They're not wrapped up in this obsessive lazy TO narrative. Let Nick Wright go on his anti- Bills tour. Bring the disrespect and bulletin board material. Bring it all... -
What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?
LABILLBACKER replied to Dick_Cheney's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even with no wind, McD doesn't allow Bass an opportunity outside of 48-50. Meanwhile other teams (Philly/Elliott) are allowing their kickers to attempt 60 yarders in the rain. Go figure? -
What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?
LABILLBACKER replied to Dick_Cheney's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's the head coaches responsibility to motivate his team. Especially against an opponent you should handle based on talent and personnel. We barely beat weaker teams like NYG, Chargers and NE. I guess you gotta ask yourself why this team is incapable of getting motivated against lower teams? And yes, I'm totally expecting a "closer than it should be" victory by us because of this unsolvable mystery. -
That would work better too!

I have no problem Josh sliding over to the B gap but you can still line up a big ugly (Spencer) behind him. More leverage than a 200lb RB.

What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?

If we lose at home again to a 3rd string qb and a Steeler team without TJ, all the goodwill McD received after the Dunne piece will disappear. -
....in NE

We did have a blueprint with Tre and he was rushed back too quickly. We should've just just allowed 12 months for full recovery plus an additional 6 months for rehab & strength. Force feeding him now and over these last several weeks was a senseless and greedy strategy. Realistically we're probably only going to get 1 full healthy year out of Von starting this September. After that we'll most likely be dumping the remainder of his contract. Unfortunately the bold risk backfired on Beane.

I don't care about the other guy. I'll let McDermott dial up a good defensive strategy. I do care about somehow reducing these incessant turnovers. 3 more last night with no wind. It's well documented Josh doesn't do that well in poor weather conditions. I'm just saying tone down the deep throws some if the wind is above 20. A 50% completion ratio doesn't get me excited regardless of his cannon. Fix Cook's recent struggles. -

15/30 and 50% is hardly ok. -

I hope the reindeer is dumb enough to attempt a bunch of deep throws. It will favor our safeties. Josh completed 15/30 during that NE wind storm. There was no advantage. Hopefully the wind is under 20mph and we can take a couple shots. But the prudent strategy is run, throw short and no turnovers. -

You do realize the wind doesn't care how strong your arm is. It's going to blow the ball off course to some degree. Especially with how the wind swirls at Highmark. For this particular game if it is 20-25, you gotta run and be willing to checkdown to pass plays under 10 yards. -

Yeah that arm really cut threw that wind in that NE game 🙄 -

It's clearly going to be very windy which will neutralize Josh's arm. These last 3 games Cook has averaged 3.5, 3.0 and last night 2.8. He's hasn't run with confidence or conviction since Dallas. This game will be low scoring even without Watt. And Tomlin will try to muddy things up beyond the wind. Josh must embrace the checkdown and the running game must return. -
Wild Card Weekend - Wild Card Weather

Prepare for wind -
Completely agree. Him trying to leap up in the air lost him his legs and leverage. I like how he shifts over to a B gap but stop jumping and get a giant olineman in there behind you.

OMG, the NFL is legit rigged (postseason matchups)
LABILLBACKER replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
The NFL is definitely not rigged or fixed but the shield does steer games in certain directions. -
Whatever you want to call it, why don't we put Spencer behind Josh instead of a running back.

The Chiefs are a mess right now and there's nothing scary about them. Miami will be getting Waddle & Mostert back next week. I'd still prefer to face KC finally at home.

Will Sherfield be better in the #2 role than Davis???
LABILLBACKER replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Basically Shakir is our #2 now and Kincaid #3. I'd advance Sherfield to #4. Knox #5 outlet. That's my pecking order for the playoffs. Sorry Gabe but I'm drastically reducing your snaps unless someone gets hurt.
