  1. Ok, another example. Focus only on negatives of the Bills QB and extol the other guy. I posted earlier this week, this stuff has gone on with Bills fans since 1960. The other guy is always better. Have fun wallowing in this.
  2. Want me to pull games where Allen was good and Jones was bad? Shall we play this game? This is all very simple. Allen is going into his third year. He improved from year 1 to year 2. There is no reason right now to suspect he won’t continue improving from year 2 to year 3. None of us will know till the games start. But if you’re assuming he won’t get better then you must have a reason why. So explain.
  3. My apologies. I would say it’s a fair criticism that you focus only on negatives regarding Allen.
  4. See above. If I come off too harsh my apologies. But if folks around here cannot see there are people who want to only focus on negatives with respect to Allen then you’re just not reading. We all know he has to continue improving. He improved from year 1 to year 2. Why think he can’t improve year 2 to year 3? And?
  5. Go back through his stuff. It’s possible I’m saying this wrong. Would you not agree there are some here who do nothing but focus on the kid’s negatives?
  6. It’s funny. I’ve been accused by some of incorrectly stating there are people on this board who do not want to see Allen succeed. To all of you, here you go.
  7. Was there for The Hit Heard Round The World. I still remember folks carrying cases of Genny into the games.
  8. Neurosurgeons make more than family practice docs because their jobs are more complex. NFL teams pay QBs more because they have a similar mindset. Doesn’t make it right of course. NFL teams copy cat too much. If I were running a team I’d give serious thought to going against the grain and basing my offense on a very strong running game. Take Singleton, get a bruising big guy that can batter a defense, and use Allen and Diggs et al when the D goes all in against the run. Think ‘72 Dolphins.
  9. Accuracy does not equal completion percentage. This has been explained over and over and over again. The 60% magical barrier has also been debunked over and over and over again; Allen hits your mythical mark with one less drop every few games. But you continue to hang onto this as if it means something. Allen improved last year. He has to continue that trend. Simple.
  10. What a damn shame. Such a tragedy. Hate to see this.
  11. True. My point above in discussing that some actually wanted Reich was to point out the irrational feelings Bills fans have had over their QBs since day 1. From Johnny Greene to Allen's fans have beeyatched about the QB for 60 years. I wonder how many other franchises do the same.
  12. I’m of the advanced age where I don’t understand podcasts!
  13. Stop with your nonsense. First of all I have said (and this is the third time now) that I think Allen has about a 70:30 chance of being the guy, and that he has things he must improve on going forward. So drop your crap about continually deflecting any and all criticism about Allen. All it shows is you either don't know how to read or refuse to acknowledge what your read. When you say that you just look ridiculous. Second, as I pointed out in another thread, they made a big mistake not bringing in another veteran when they cut McCarron. You know who else recognized that? A guy named Beane. He admitted he made a mistake, and I for one am glad we have a GM that can recognize errors and take responsibility vs. a guy who refuses to admit he could be wrong about a personnel decision. But you continue to bring this up again and again and again like some puppy dog chewing on his favorite chew toy. Beane and McDermott aren't perfect, they have made mistakes and the backup one to Allen early on as one of them. Which they admitted and corrected now with Barkley. Third, I am not "blaming" fans about Allen. All I have said is that there a few fans around here who got it into their heads when Allen was drafted was never going to be the guy, and no matter what he does will keep that opinion. You and I both know that's true; any cursory analysis of threads over the past two years shows that, and everyone on this board knows that. And to be fair, there are also those very few fans who feel Allen is already a great QB, and again any cursory analysis shows these pie in the sky types exist as well. Both extremes are off base. The vast majority of fans here are like me and like you: they see Allen doing good things and they see Allen doing bad things, they see that he has made progress over the last two years and hope he continues this coming year. Some are more optimistic, some less. So you can take you stuff about me blasting fans as if I'm blasting everyone on the board and stick it. Oh, and I notice you once again have to bring Brandon into the equation, another one of your fixations. You honestly think that $$ kept McD from hiring coaches he wanted as if coaching salaries are that big a dent into the budget. The guy has been gone for years now, the Bills have made the playoffs two of the last three years (and yes they now have to get there and win) but you have to bring Brandon back up. It's like a Pavlovian thing with you, any post goes up you reflexively have to bring up Brandon or the above mentioned QB thing. I'm just stunned you haven't brought up your usual thing about how all Ralph cared about was $$ and that the current administration is the same way even though Terry is, you know, not Ralph. I wan pretty ticked off about Harvey Johnson myself, maybe I should bring him up to blame current staff about issues they have? That would make as much sense as what you continually offer. Allen has things to prove this season. Again the vast majority of posters here including myself recognize that. Some don't on either side of the spectrum. That is reality. I was overly harsh on one of your posts earlier today. I agree with what you've posted here..
  14. When they won the AFL with Kemp there were those who still wanted Lamonica. While only 9 years old I was one of them. And you probably remember those who claimed we would have won a SB if Reich had played instead of Kelly. If we win a SB with Allen the vast majority will celebrate Allen. But there will be those few who don’t give him credit. We all know that; not that it makes sense but we all know that.
  15. I already said it’s 70:30 Allen becomes the guy so if his scenario as you put it turns out correct I would not be totally shocked. And if and hopefully when we win the whole thing and Allen did have a game like you described there will be posters who claim it was more a victory for the defense or the WRs or whatever because they will never face up to being wrong about him. That’s the reality of the situation; I have 60 years watching the irrationality of Bills fans and the QB position advising me on that.
  16. You’re assuming the only victories will be moral. Could that be because you’re one of those hoping to justify your notion that Allen was a bad draft puck so you can brag about being right?
  17. I think he tries to claim inside information he doesn’t have. Just a gut feeling; I think he wants back in the league, people aren’t hiring him, and he wants to give an impression he’s still relevant. Reporters aren’t necessarily guys that failed in the front office for several teams.
  18. Not far fetched, I just think Lombardi tries to make himself more relevant than he is.
  19. Lombardi has failed several times as a front office guy with several teams. These kind of posts strike me as a guy trying desperately to claim some sort of relevance.
  20. He improved from year one to year two. There is no reason to expect that he won’t continue to improve in year three. He has work to do of course as do most young QBs, still some negatives to work on. But his future is bright. The vast majority on this board understand this; that he has positives and negatives although some slant more either way. Now I have been challenged on my statement that there are some who would like to see Allen not work out do they can say they were right about him (GreggTX, jrober, and check any game day chat room for others). There is a rich history of QBs getting slammed, however. I have watched Buffalo Bills football since 1960 when I was 5 years old. And this stuff has gone on constantly. Warren Rabb vs. Johnny Greene. Kemp vs. Lamonica. Shaw and Harris. Ferguson and Marangi. The cast of idiots in the early 80’s before Kelly. Jelly was by far the best QB we ever had and by far the one everyone agreed in, but even then you had a few people saying Reich should have QBs a SB or two. Then Johnson and Flutie. . Edwards and Losman and Holcomb. Then time to blast EJ. Then blast Orton. Then Fitz. And now folks (some, certainly not all) have it in their minds Allen doesn’t cut it. The one great constant in Bills football, the Kelly years being the exception, is that fans are never satisfied with their QB, that it’s always the backup or the next guy that is the guy we need. Allen may be, maybe not. But it’s clearly too soon to make any kind of definitive pronouncement. I can only surmise those who seek to criticize every thing a second year QB has done, every single pass, every single decision do so as a kind of defense mechanism and/or to try and justify a prediction they made. Hope I’m wrong. For the record I think it’s 70/30 he’s our long term answer.
  21. Well, I also wanted Rosen and an now happy we have Allen. And if you care to read any of my previous posts about Allen I have said repeatedly he improved last year but still has a ways to go. Like most young QBs. This coming year if we have it should tell a lot. And none of that means a hill of beans to the topic from the OP. It has nothing to do with questioning Allen; I do above as do you. But there are a few people here who want Allen to fail. We all know that, we all can pick them out. Are they trolls? Maybe. Do they exist? Certainly. There is nothing lazy not nor juvenile about acknowledging reality.
  22. There are some here, just a few, who want to see him fail so they can brag about being right at the time Allen was drafted. We all know that.
  23. Beane admitted they should have brought a vet like Anderson in earlier. How long do you want to stomp on the corpse of this issue?
