Probably overexcited his first game and rushed his approach, got ahead of the ball a bit which makes it go right. Just like the golf swing. But he’ll have to fix it quick. Hauschka is available.

Have You Ever Attended A Bills Home Game
oldmanfan replied to LB3's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, many. Including the first ever home game at the Rockpile when I was 4 years old. Favorites: 1. Monday night season opener in 1974 when we beat the Raiders. Best game I’ve ever seen live. 2. Season opener 1980 when we finally squished the Fish. Helped carry the goalposts to Ralph’s box. 3. AFL championship game and The Hit Heard Round The World 4. Taking my wife to her first game and her getting logos tattoos on her face (temporary ones). And my mom showing her off to all her friends in her section. Worst 1. Getting to my seat right before kickoff for the first ever game at Rich Stadium, then seeing Mul-Key return the opening kickoff for a TD. 2. Game at the Rockpile in OJ’s rookie year against the Bengals. Sloppy day with rain all day, Bills played terribly, OJ sucked. -
Bills release their social justice message
oldmanfan replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Proud of the message they’re sending. We have to come together as a society. And that means we can be pro-police and pro-police reform. We can believe black lives matter and that if a black man commits a crime he should be arrested, just treated the same in that arrest as anyone else. -

I’d have to look at the stadium configuration in detail -

Don’t get me wrong, any plan would have to include appropriate mitigation approaches. They work. But it could be done. Good points. -

Wonder what the guy did. I just hope they decide to let some fans in for the games this year. You can space people out easily enough. -

I think they should allow limited seating, like 5-10 k, in the stadium. But they have set a policy against trespassing and if you decide to ignore it you get arrested. And you get upset. Imagine that. Could be worse. Could be a guy like Jacob Blake who was dumb enough to ignore the law. But if you ignore the Erie County sheriff’s bet you don’t get shot and paralyzed. -

I appreciate this comment. I suspect we could sit down over a beer and agree on several things. -

I comment on my own maturity; you can decide on yours for yourself. Do I believe racism is an issue in our country? Yes. Based on my discussions with friends that are black who have been harassed by others including law enforcement. Based on my adopted daughter of Asian descent who has faced discriminating and insulting comments. I am very much pro law enforcement. Which to me means we need to back good cops doing an impossible job with dedication and pride while recognizing there are some bad cops doing bad things that need to be prosecuted for doing so. I believe blacks that commit crimes should yield to police commands and orders, but I can understand their fear when they see a video like George Floyd. I believe black men should be able to jog down a road without some hilljack moron and his son shooting him. In short, I believe this is not a black and white issue, pun not intended. Racism and racial equality in this country is a gray issue, with room for improvement by all sides and a need to listen and talk to one another. When people can’t handle a couple minutes before a football game where players try to help that dialog along they are part of the problem, not the solution. -

Nice deflection on the BLM thing. I’m sorry you cannot accept facts about science and medicine. The deaths of almost 200k Americans and millions of people around the world defines a pandemic. You apparently are hanging onto the myth of the 6k deaths with only Covid on the death certificate whereas anyone with a smattering of medical knowledge understands it exacerbates underlying conditions. As for the events if last night, the players are protesting and asking for changes in our country that have been needed since the Constitution was first enacted. I am mature enough to be able to recognize their protest, agree with parts and disagree with parts (such as looting and violence associated with both right and left fringe groups), and not think that a few minutes of protests aimed at opening people’s eyes has to detract from my enjoyment of the game itself. -

200,000 deaths in our country from one agent is a huge number, and it is not over yet. for perspective, in 2019 there were about 650k deaths from heart disease in the US; Covid will likely be at least half of that. With heart disease we have hospitals dedicated just to cardiovascular conditions, we have cardiologists by the score, we have statins and diets and on and on to fight the war against heart disease. -

I'm trying to be objective. But I think it's the Bills for a couple reasons. One is continuity; I think that is going to be critically important in this Covid altered year. On the defense we have a ton of continuity in the back 7, and on offense other than Diggs we have a ton of continuity up front, in the WR corps, and of course with Josh. I think Josh contiunes developing this year as he's done the past two seasons. Second, I think the Pats while being our toughest competitor lost way too many people on defense, so despite the brilliance of Belichick that will be a challenge. They also will not be as effective on offense given Brady's departure and a thin WR corps; I also do not think Newton is good enough to overcome those effects. As for the other teams? The Fish will put up a fight. I think Flores is doing a helluva job, but they still have issues on the offensive side of the ball that will limit them for another year or so. And the Jets will not scare anyone as long as Gase is their HC. -
I was 9 years old for the ‘64 Bills. The defense of the two AFL teams was just dominant. I wish the Super Bowl had been moved up a year or two; we’d have given the Pack fits. And especially in ‘64 with Cookie and Carleton I think the offense could have ground down any NFL defense. As for Namath I commented above, but his contract precipitated the merger and the Jets SB III victory validated it. Those and his 4000 yard season cement his HOF status

Great stuff as always Shaw. Should be a helluva lot of fun this year. Comes down to Josh and I for one am excited to see him progress.
