  1. There are many possible scenarios in picks 1-6... With a Browns trade, we could see QBs go 1-2-3-4 completely unprecedented, but it could happen. Here's a scenario we have not explored yet.....Barkley and Chubb going in the top #2. Browns could see the top 3 QB prospects as the same and be fine with whoever is available at #4. That could make for quite an interesting trade market.
  2. I do think Gettleman goes with BPA at #2. Nobody is going to blow him away with an offer. He talked about "seeing your player in a gold jacket". There are 3 guys that project so favorably right now, and that's Chubb, Barkley and Nelson. I can see them making a move from #34 up into the late 1st to get a QB.
  3. Marcus Peters. Dropping "you feel me?" and "hella weak" left and right.
  4. Phone is only going to ring if a QB or Chubb is available. Nobody is burning draft picks to get Nelson or Fitzpatrick. It's been said that this draft is top heavy. Didn't one GM say that a pick in the 20s might as well be in the 50s?
  5. I was talking with a good friend today who is a draft freak, discussing how inaccurate these mocks are, year after year. We forget that these teams have wildly different draft boards, each with different priorities. Every mock has a QB rush early, some with up to 4 going in the top 5! That would be unprecedented, but it could happen. Someone is going to slide...
  6. Ben - Eli - Rivers Rivers never put it all together. He had HOF weapons out there and still couldn't sniff a Super Bowl.
  7. OK, which GM is going to panic and make that trade without knowing the player available? Steve Keim? Ozzie Newsome? Tom Telesco? Mike Tannebaum? OK, he might...
  8. You win TBD for the day. Are you here through next Thursday? Nice work.
  9. Found this interesting.... Elway said he doesn't have more than 4 QBs graded as first-rounders.
  10. Let some other team panic. If the Bills don't like the QBs available, don't make the deal. It wouldn't be reasonable to assume the Bills like the top 4 QBs equally. It has been proved that teams have wildly draft boards.
  11. There has always been a big gap between how NFL teams view Allen, and how the general public views him. I've accepted that the Bills will come out of this draft with a QB, so I'm trying to keep an open mind to all the prospects. I can see the intrigue. Arm strength is glossed over by the public, but there is value in having a howitzer behind center. He's big, smart and played in an offense that translates well. I can also the fear. For all the hype, he's just not a great player yet! Some team will fall in love with him and take the chance.
  12. Teams at the top can sell high right now. If you want to get ripped off, make a deal with the Browns or Broncos today. If their targeted players are off the board, they are more inclined to deal, and will not demand a kings ransom.
  13. I'm referring to the Broncos. They have a QB they just paid, and a 1st round QB who hasn't really seen the field. Elway has always been a big believer in Paxton and I just don't see them getting rid of him yet. The QB rush early, possibly 1-2-3, allows them to grab BPA at their most critical positions of need (OL and RB). If Nelson and Barkley are gone, I think it is more likely they trade out.
  14. People are throwing around "HOF" with Nelson and Barkley. Bradley Chubb is also ridiculously appealing. If either player is available, I don't see how you pass on that and move down.
  15. "Stats are for losers!" - Mel Kiper When talking about college QBs, I like to look at their play against top teams. I remember EJ Manuel being garbage against top 25 teams. NFL QBs? Eye test. You know a good one when you see one.
  16. Hollywood actresses are not Cali women. I'm thinking about the babes at the beach in Del Mar or Santa Monica, or the startup chick in San Francisco.
  17. What's a "blue collar" player anyway? A big Eastern European brute who lumbers around the field, isn't particularly refined, but they bring their lunch pail and a "Can do!" attitude to work every day? I'd rather just take talented players and let the sports radio guys worry about the rest. If OBD wants a big arm, big bodied, smart player with tremendous upside, they'll pick Allen, period. If this is just a thread to whine about Buffalo, I've got my opinions. I did leave and don't intend to return, so you can put the pieces together
  18. Let's not pretend the state and county are going to play hardball. History tells us otherwise. https://deadspin.com/5971468/the-bills-blackmailed-new-york-taxpayers-into-covering-84-percent-of-stadium-renovations Here's the list of events that you can expect from a stadium: https://www.usbankstadium.com/events http://www.levisstadium.com/events/category/tickets/ https://www.metlifestadium.com/events-tickets/event-calendar These regions are significantly larger and richer than WNY, and they still can't get many events! Are a few Taylor Swift and Jay Z shows worth half a billion, or more, in taxpayer dollars? No chance. The stadium / convention center idea was floated in San Diego and never took off. Completely different facilities that just don't work well together.
  19. I have accepted that any of the big 5 prospects could be our new starting QB in 8 days. They all have their pros and cons. I can see the appeal of Allen, but also why others are sour on him. We'll all buy their jersey when they toss 3 TDs on the road in New England, I'm sure we'll get over it.
  20. Give me an open air stadium or a dome. No retractable roof. You guys need to look into the usage rates of some of the new facilities out there. Keep in mind they are in much bigger markets with more discretionary dollars available. The reality is that it would be unused for 97% of the season.
  21. Some recent non fiction standouts: The Big Burn - Timothy Egan. The Worst Hard Time - Timothy Egan Getting Up Slowly - Nate Jackson
  22. I will not pretend I got to see OJ, those were the days before highlight reels were regularly available. When talking about pass rushers and RBs, I think we have to boil it down a bit more. Bruce, Reggie White, and Derrick Thomas were all different players. Which is best? In this era, I would take a better version of Thomas. Same with RBs, would you rather have an elusive back like Sanders, a power back like Campbell, or the speed of Bo Jackson? In this era, I would take a better version of Sanders.
