  1. The NFL is not a perfectly rational business. 6'5, 235 lb, smart and a bazooka arm will always be appealing, just like a 6'7, 310lb "dancing bear" tackle. There are always a few coaches who think they can be the ones to develop a player past their flaws. I'm not going to pretend that I've watched "tape" on Allen, but if he's graded so highly, he can't be that bad throwing the ball. It is true that if he fails, it will likely be because of his field vision or accuracy issues. Injury (at his size)or character concerns are unlikely. Right now, there is a team high in the 1st that is drooling over the prospect of Allen as their future QB.
  2. Because if he figures it out, he'll likely be the best QB of the class. He has every QB beat in the physical tools department, and that matters to many teams. I like his potential, and he could be molded by the right coach, but he could really benefit from riding the pine for a year or two. He's certainly a boom/bust type prospect. Being smart, huge and having a howitzer under your right shoulder will always put you high in the draft.
  3. Tell me about all the QBs that have busted because their hands are too small. Maybe he'll fumble more, but that will not be the reason he fails. QB failure comes down to accuracy, field vision/decision making, injuries or character.
  4. He doesn't have ideal size, period. Still a great prospect, but it does matter. The only question you have to ask. Is he good enough to overcome it?
  5. Remember when the Bills covered 15% of the stadium renovation and upgrade costs in 2012? So yes, they did indeed take a "cash infusion" from NY State & the county. They have been subsidized by taxpayers for years. It's best to keep that in mind when you throw around terms like "well run business" and "little long term debt".
  6. I'm not one to put owners on a pedestal, which has become commonplace in the modern NFL. Wilson, like all owners, made business decisions that benefited his checkbook. While I don't know if he was a cheapstake owner, I do believe that he especially challenging to work with, especially in the later half of his life. The history is all there.
  7. I have to place some blame in Tyrod's court, he just doesn't put our WRs in a position to make plays. We'll see what Zay can do with a new QB. He's still got a ton of talent to work with. Staying off the bath salts / synthetic pot this year would help reach that talent.
  8. Yes, he's fast on game tape, but an agent would tell him to run. It's an asset, and in these workouts, you can reinforce that to teams. His mother may have his best interests at heart, but this is the wrong time and place to be managing your sons business. Hire a professional. I'm starting to agree. Tape don't lie, and I think he's got all the other QB prospects beat there. Look at Russel Wilson's scouting report. The pros are all there "Can make every throw", "commands offense", "playmaker", "arm strength". The con was that he was short.
  9. I've been struggling with this as well. It's his decision, but why forego an agent? They know the process, the teams, the front office personnel, etc. etc.
  10. It would be foolish to cross any top QBs name off the list. We're likely getting one of them. Mayfield is very, very accurate and is a playmaker. Not a perfect prospect, but I'm very intrigued.
  11. Agreed. I don't have an issue with OBJ on the Bills, we just don't have the right scenario for him to be a long term solution here. A team with more cap room, minimal offensive playmakers and their "franchise QB" on the roster would be much wiser to make this move. Colts, 49ers and Bears are each great candidates.
  12. He'll get a contract that compares, or exceeds, what Evans and Antonio Brown received.
  13. I've said it a few times, but this is a standard offseason smokeshow. At the end of the day, all of these players get fat contracts, or miss a few checks in training camp and eventually show. He'll get a contract in the $17-20m p/season range and you'll see him in September. Period.
  14. Could be a blunt, cigar or a toasted piece of crust. Nobody knows...
  15. He passed up a $60 million contract last year. Now he's a year older with another 400 touches. I think the Steelers hold steady with their ~$12m per season offer.
  16. You can contend year after year by adding young, elite players. If OBJ could be had for the 1st rounder, you make that trade right away.
  17. Thank you for stating the obvious Coach. Yes, elite QBs in this league, even the ones that can scramble and make plays with their feet, are able to "drop back and throw". Man, you guys will take anything these two say and just run with it...
  18. If they could, why would they? Deep down, I don't think teams care about pot.
  19. Of course not, but you know what? This is standard offseason smoke. We've seen this story dozens of times. There are holdouts every year, some guys threaten to sit out the season, and they never do. It might drag into training camp, but the check will get written either way. OBJ will get a fat contract with the Giants, get traded elsewhere and still get a fat contract, and we'll see him in September.
  20. Yes, they did. An elite player for a 4th round pick and a 2019 2nd. Peanuts. I'm thinking about what OBJ would warrant, at a minimum, he's got to be worth a 1st and a mid round pick, right? Say what you want about his attitude or character, but the guy shredded the record books for WR performance. He is one of the most explosive players in the league. You'll have to pay him, but so what.
  21. The league is ultimately talent driven, and teams will put up with all sorts of BS if a player can perform on the field. Now, I don't think Kaps actions were BS, but I know many people disagree. I simply find it shocking that teams are signing trash heap players like TJ Yates, Keith Wenning and Joe Webb but can't find a spot for Kap.
  22. That's a big if, mental health and substance abuse issues, even if they are no longer concerns, may never allow him an opportunity again. He's a 1st rounder who only started 8 games, I'm not sure you can even say he was a bust on the field, and that may be the only reason he gets another chance? Kap is clearly getting blacklisted, that's been obvious for a while now.
  23. For his play on the field, he should be the highest paid receiver in the game. It's a tough situation. Gets his ankle snapped in two when vastly outperforming his rookie deal, so I'm sure he wants some security He'll get 18m p/year from someone this offseason.
  24. Sneaking into the playoffs and scoring 3 points is not the goal, the goal is to be a consistent championship contender. The process must lead to that. So far, I am OK with everything that happened except the Darby trade. As stated, I believe moving talented, young and cheap corners is the wrong move.
  25. Oh yeah, #trusttheprocess. This is the only move that I have disagreed with so far. In time, passing up Mahomes & Watson may be added to that list.
