i've had the weirdest day at work. the bill's new has been amazingly weird. i have a dinner tonight...i wonder if i should even go.
-
i don't know if this is a good environment to develop a qb. i'm more of the philosophy that a good qb will develop over time no matter what, (you obviously have to give him some tools to work with over time). i'm not saying having a number of draft picks is a massive advantage, but it's how the rebuild is going to happen. now, if you don't have any confidence that the right talent will be brought in, that i completely get. i just haven't personally made that determination yet, and probably won't until next fall. the team declining from last year doesn't alarm me at all. they're certainly worse than i thought, but taking a step back was going to be part of this thing. it just can't be a continued part of it next year. we're really just forced to sit and wait.
-
nah. the staff gets at least next year, and possibly the next one after that.
-
this makes sense, and agreed that it's possibly a far bigger concern. i'm not bent out of shape yet. i think some of the signings were just patches, and others were made for the future that sure don't look like they're worth their investment at this point. what happens this off season will be the defining mark for me. they have picks and cap to work with. i don't think there's enough there to create a world beater just yet, but i'd expect significant improvement in style of play and win total. if next year looks anything like this year, we're completely screwed as fans.
-
i think it's far more on those guys than it was on the culture. i'd even put it more on the staff for not possibly doing enough "research" on who they're signing. as count said, i'm sure if the bills were playoff bound davis would have stayed, but it's not like he took a good look at this team when he signed and saw the playoffs. most didn't, yet he still signed. the way he retired proves who he is as a person. if he really did hate the staff, why not retire after the game and move on? boldin is more or less in the same boat. an older vet who didn't want to put up with it, and it i mean losing. didn't he only want to play with the pats? a guy that age wants a ring, and the bills weren't getting it for him. i guess the better question is, what do people think is going on behind the scenes that's making players retire.

Ah. You’re doing that thing where when you’ve been shown the lack of logic in your post, you begin to argue a completely useless point that had nothing to do with the topic in the first place. Do you not think people see through that? You weren’t trying to be clever. You just screwed up with a comeback. I get it...if people aren’t bitching, they think everything is fine. That was your way of coming at me, and in the process, you did what you accused me of doing. You fell on your face there, and now there’s some serious bullshitting to try to not look foolish.
-
Do you really think wood doesn’t have an idea of what’s going on inside that locker room? Do you really think he’s not still great friends with many guys on the team and talks to them on a regular basis? This is silly. Think about what you’re saying. Maybe he’s just telling the truth that after 2 games, the team hasn’t turned on the coaches.
-
You accuse me of ascribing things you haven’t posted, then accuse me of thinking that everything is fine, which I haven’t said at all. Nice work. Let me ask you this...if Eric said the coaches lost the team, would you believe him? Of course you would. Because you want to. My my point in all of this was that Davis retiring at half time doesn’t mean the coaches lost the team.
-
i'm sure players understand what's happening. who says they're blindly agreeing with everything like, "sheep". see what i mean? people love to put weird angry spin on things right now because they're upset. this is growing pains that have to be worked through. i really doubt the staff has completely lost the locker room after 8 quarters. if that make you happy to think of that, have at it. eric said it wasn't the case, but why believe him if it doesn't fit your view.
-
why? you don't think he's brave or strong willed enough to voice his opinion? this type of thinking is the problem. posters are refusing to believe a long term leader on this team about how the coaches haven't lost the locker room, but can't wait to hand on every word of a lb that could be upset the bills tried to move on from him. i'm not saying either is right or wrong, but it's strange how some just want to gravitate towards the worst case scenario. so do think they left because of the staff and because the staff was losing the team? davis was a shell of himself as was boldin. they signed for money and to keep playing, and they probably never should have.
-
i don't think this has ever been said, or is it true. the team this year is not the final product. you and i may not agree with how things have been done up to this point, but it's very much a work in progress. if you want to argue that this won't work at all, i get that, but this year just isn't indicative of what this staff wants. we knew this team wasn't playoff bound this year. if the bills end up winning 6 or 7 games, you watch...people will still complain that we didn't lose enough and get the better draft pick. this year is not for the weak hearted, but i certainly don't think we'll see a squad like this next year.
-
dude, you've been trying far too hard here. you're the exact person i'm talking about. a respected player for years on this team states the locker room is fine, but since it doesn't fit in with you being wildly upset, it can't be true. boldin was complete done as was davis. if they were playing for superbowl contenders would they stay? likely, but both very much new what was going on with the bills, and both were hitting their physical wall. to even bring up incognito is trying too hard. i get it. you're upset. look at things a bit logically here. what happened on sunday was a black mark on davis, not the bills. if you can't see that, that's because you don't want to. see...it's like you just can't wait for it to happen. so you don't think wood would speak his mind?
-
i don't think players quitting on the coaching is a narrative is all except for here. right now, people are so into looking for the bad on this team, that they'll run with any scenario. is it weird that davis quit at halftime? sure. is there something bigger going on than him hitting a wall? probably not. that's because it's absolutely a davis issue.

i'm a godfather to one niece and nephew, and i will always see them a lot, so i will be active in their lives. i think it's luck of the draw in that regard. my wife's family, (and i'm sure many others) have it so the god parents are the ones who take the child if something happens to the actual parents. for our first, i wanted my only sibling, (my brother) to be the godfather. my wife was bent out of shape because she wanted her sister to be the godmother, and they would be the ones taking the kids. long story short, my brother was the godfather.
-
it won't be just cap space. it will be cap space, draft picks, and development of the young guys that will hopefully drag the bills out of this hole. this team will looks quite a bit different next year.
-
i wonder what you really have going on in there. i think i'm going to get some insight from you, but they tend to be just nothing, snarky posts. i know you have something good to say...just waiting to hear it.

Is there any team in worse shape than the Bills?

i find that's a life thing, not necessarily having to do with football. -

so...do people just enjoy getting together and acting like sad sacks in a thread like this? what's the appeal here? i remember the browns being in a similar situation a few years ago, (minus having the qb in place) and everyone saying they would love to be in that position. well...here we are. i don't know how this will turn out, but i think we all had a fairly good idea this was coming. i didn't think it would be this bad, but still not a shocker.
