  1. Tyrod has had the benefit of a fairly good running game (granted he contributed to those stats) .. but we've been a top 10 rushing team .. that should open up some windows .. he's a single look .. no anticipation passer .. drop and run. We've given him 3 years with one of the best RB's in the league ... time to move on from mediocre (2nd level stats aside). The only stats that matter are win/losses.
  2. Oh and one other thing ... A+ when considering we got another 1st round pick this year.
  3. I give it an A+ when compared to the draft just 12 months earlier ... I too was way high on Zay Jones and was disappointed ... but will give a hall pass due to surgery at end of year .. let's see what happens in 2018 with someone else throwing him the ball. 2016 Buffalo Bills draft Round Pick Player Position College Notes 1 19 Shaq Lawson DE Clemson 2 41 Reggie Ragland LB Alabama Pick from CHI 3 80 Adolphus Washington DT Ohio St 4 139 Cardale Jones QB Ohio St Compensatory 5 156 Jonathan Williams RB Arkansas 6 192 Kolby Listenbee WR TCU 6 218 Kevon Seymour CB USC Compensatory
  4. Holy Captain Obvious The Chiefs had won 9, 11, & 12 games per year up to last year ... so where did you think the pick was gonna land?? The bigger surprise was the Bills record / playoffs in 2018 ... yes we played in a game after New Years .. that I'm happy about .. but many on this board (me included) probably has us in the six win stage so our pick is the one that is later than most expected (especially after the trades of Sammy, Dareus, etc.).
  5. Congrats to Frank .. he's paid his dues as an OC ... happy to see him get a shot. Wishing him the best of luck and glad to have McDaniels be around for the fall of the Pats as Brady's career winds down.
  6. Please don't ... agree this is full Ditka .. don't punt that much
  7. I'd take that deal .. trade the 2 2's to move to #29 in round one .. and have picks 21,22, & 29 ... 3 players in top 29 vs. 4 players (21,22, 53 & 56 in round 2)
  8. I think history will show there are more first round QB busts over the years than quality QB's (drafted after round 3 or UDFA's) ... my point is I don't think any of this year's round of QB's is without some faults so let's not trade the farm to move up .. let the draft come to us ... I'm perfectly happy with all these picks regardless of where they are seeded in any given round ... ask any other team with less picks which draft board they'd rather have.
  9. Maybe its just me ... but I think we fill the defensive holes in the draft sans if we can get Star DT .. get the LB's and OL's and CBs in the draft Sam Bradford - Fragile .. but competent and maybe cheaper due to injury history Star L Paul Richardson
  10. I'm totally good with Beane not going in for Smith ... $70 Mil for above plus remember the year he didn't throw a TD to WR's a few years ago. Daniel Snyder's team continues to strive for mediocre ... I'll trust the process. RG III's tweet was priceless ... that they'll find a way to blame him. Bradford maybe on the radar now .. given his injury history .. maybe he'll be cheaper.
  11. 1) OJ and the Electric Company (led by Joe D and Reggie) in the early/mid 70's .. yes I'm Old. 2) Gunner Bill ... I appreciate his insights and depth of knowledge on players 3) Self Explanatory .. we will get revenge from Wide Right at some point 4) I want DL if we hold our picks (Vea .. though don't think he'll be there .. Davenport the kid from UTSA ... Hurst Mich) and stud LB (I see where some mocks have Roquan Smith form Georgia dropping to us .. I just don't see it). Extra ? by Gunner ... last 4 drafts .. but hindsight is 20/20 2014 -- Trading up to #4 for Sammy and not taking home product Mack from UB (as a UB grad he's the greatest athlete to come from the program) who went 5th 2015 - No choice as we gave up our #1 & #4 for the above move 2016 - Round 2 ... taking Ragland at #44 in lieu of Michael Thomas at #47 2017 - I actually loved round 2 last year ... I loved the Zay pick (though he had rough year .. hopefully surgery helps) having watched him at ECU (my daughter goes there) I thikn he will come back and surprise in 2018 playing in the slot.
  12. Still suffering from Watkins Hangover ... please no WR in the 1st round (also anyone impressed by Amari Cooper's year this year? He was heralded moreso than Ridley) ... I like the Richardson FA call ... fill another hole at 21 / 22.
  13. JM57 ... I hear you .. but will continue to respect Polian ... as it relates to the colts (see below) I will respectfully disagree. Given that pedigree and history beyond what he did for hte Bills and Panthers .. I will respect his take. In 1998, Polian was hired as President and decided to build through the draft as the Indianapolis Colts would have the number 1 overall pick for 1998; the Colts picked Peyton Manning. In 2002, he hired head coach Tony Dungy. During his tenure, the Colts led the NFL with eight consecutive playoff appearances and seven consecutive seasons of 12 victories. They won seven division titles (1999, 2003-07, 09), won the 2006 Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears, and made a second Super Bowl appearance in 2010 but would lose to the New Orleans Saints under coach Jim Caldwell. From 2000-09, the Colts (115-45) set the NFL mark for most wins in a decade and nine playoff berths tied the NFL record of Dallas in the 1970s.
  14. I agree ... but ... I love Vita Vea and would like to see him in Bills colors ... I know most of this thread is about QB this QB that ... I don't believe they will take a QB with these picks and concur with others .. they may trade one of the two picks to gather more draft capital. Contrary to many on this board ... I'm a Kiper fan .. not because he's remotely accurate ... let's be clear . .he is NOT .. .the Jimmy Claussen commentary stated earlier reinforces this .. but let's be clear ... look at 1st round bust historically ... many NFL GM's included those employed at 1 Bills Drive ... have missed on many picks as well .. but bottom line he's in the sports entertainment business ... this guy carved out a niche and has been doing it for 30 years now ... got to give credit where credit is due ... he hypes up the draft in January .. has us talking about it ... prolongs the NFL discussion in the offseason ... and for nothing else .. this clip alone is entertaining regarding him and the Colts from 1994. I'll watch Kiper and McShay talk football picks any time http://www.nfl.com/videos/indianapolis-colts/0ap2000000345422/Caught-in-the-Draft-Kiper-calls-out-the-Colts
  15. Bill Polian just trashed this last night on Mel Kipers 1.0 draft show .. they see him as a WR ala Terrell Pryor
  16. I think Watson's passing stats more mirror Rudolph (see my above post) vs. Jacksons .. Watson was more of a passer in college than Jackson. 17. Check out the number of N/As .. .kind of telling for 2nd round .. if I was not given the round number .. I might think it was round 4 or 5. Also looks like with Dawkins we got the best OL of the 2nd round.
  18. OK .. agree as a college player .. Jackson has had more impact .. but that's due to his rushing stats .. I think history shows (see Tyrod) that rushing based QB's vs. pocket passers don't translate to the NFL ... the three year trend of Mason Rudolph looks good . .but history of Big 12 QBs excelling in NFL is limited due to wide open spread offenses. But of the two I'd take Rudolph at 21 or 22, its worth a flier. 19. Smith is an upgrade ... but here's my problem .. a few seasons ago .. 2014 that is .. their WRs had ZERO TD's ... let me repeat that ... Zero TDs. "The Chiefs, eliminated from playoff contention after a Ravens win, officially finished an entire season without a WR catching a touchdown pass. To put the drought into perspective, only three teams have gone through a season without a wide receiver catching a touchdown, and all of them played in a bygone era. The last team to do it was the Giants in 1964, when the Bears had the NFL's best passing offense at just over 200 yards per game." Let's not give up the farm for that recent history.
  20. Not sure where you're going with this Jeremy ... I appreciate the other comments from the start of my thread ... but my point was apparently our gameplanning and defensive players stepped up and made the Jags pucker a lot more than the vaunted Steelers D at home a week later ... 48 hours later the Steelers fire their offensive coordinator .. go figure ... I like what Frazier and McD have done to our defense (which again shows the wreck of Rex in years prior). I read alot about Bortles missing throws ... but don't some think that pressure from the D Line and tighter throwing windows from our secondary .. and fact the game was so close and he was fearful of turnovers .. maybe influenced some of his poor throws? He was hit or sacked on one out of his three throws ... 2 sacks / 5 QB hits in 23 passing attempts (note Tyrod was 8 out of 38 in that time).
  21. I think this is the most telling thing of last weekend's games. The Jags demolished Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh offensively and our D went down to Duval County the week prior (along with a lot of Bills Mafia support) and held the home team to 10 points and Blake Bortles ran more than Fornette who averaged 2.7 yards per carry against us.
  22. So for the trade up crew ... taking into account the other QB starved teams ... Kirby wants to trade the next 3 years of picks .. which top 3 QB is worth it? I like sitting back for Rudolph ... though the history of Big 12 QB successes is rare ... I'm not sure I see the differences (and welcome feedback) of what the other higher ranked QB's bring to the table for the draft price. I kind of like controlling back to back picks.
  23. If you start a thread .. where is the defense to your stance after 4 pages of response? Or do you just throw grenades and run? I'm sorry but the trades of players (who were overpaid and not contributing) and accumulation of picks from 1 Bills Drive occurred under current GM tenure.
  24. We've had a top 10 defense more than a few times during the drought ... I'll take a franchise QB for a change ... the dink and dunk of the past 17 years has grown extremely tiresome as well as the inability for a Bills QB to lead a 4th quarter comeback
  25. I'm not a Marrone fan either (just in way he left the organization) .. but that hardly makes me want to root for the Pats .... I look at it this way ... .yesterday's game is really a compliment to our defense .. we held those guys to 10 points in their own house ... I hope they destroy NE
