Also curious on picks 5-11 .. no QB's
  3. Wentz College Stats (remember d2) .. funny as I have been pouring over the same stats from the top 6 in this draft ... but with all the Wentz commentary in this thread ... I went back and grabbed his ... these numbers don't blow you away. 4 years declining completion percentage ... but he obviously panned out ... my point is I was down on Allen for below .. but maybe he just needs to be put in the right system ... ala Wentz with Doug "the QB" whisperer Peterson ... problem is ... not sure Daboll or McD is that person. 4. Dead nuts on ... agree with this analogy in terms of the QB depth .. don't mortgage the farm
  5. I'm not sure I'd take Jackson over Allen .. but agree with sitting tight ... if it took 3 2's to move 3 spots up ... imagine what we'd have to pay to jump the Jets for picks 1 or 2 ... no thanks ... given there is no "clear cut" #1 QB of this class ... sit tight.
  6. Overstating the obvious ... we have sucked at both the QB and passing game (Offensive Coordinator list is horrible) for over 15 years ... hopefully the "process" will find us an able bodied signal caller and match a game plan to extend the ball downfield
  7. Can't this be done by a QB coach .. one who played in the league before?
  8. I'm saying let's not sign one of the 2nd tier FA QB's and draft two QB's .. you carry 3 QB's on the roster .. so why use your FA money on (Gabbert, EJ Manuel, Matt Moore, and a whole lot more on McCarron) ... I'd rather plug other holes via FA and draft one of the top 5 QB's in round 1 and come back with Falk or Mike White in Round 2. Joe Webb
  9. I too have been looking at stats of the top 5 ... gotta say I'm landing on Baker ... I like the completion percentage, the wins against top competition (at Ohio State) ... and the chip on his shoulder/passion.
  10. Why do we want Matt Moore or McCarron .. use that money on other positions ... why not improve your odds (of no bust pick) with a QB in the first and the second? More agressive flashback to what the Redskins did with RGIII and Kirk Cousins in same draft.
  11. Sal C on WGR ... we now over $90MM in free agent money in 2019 ... we're big game hunting (gone Watkins, Dareus, Glenn, Taylor and their contracts) ... time for some talent to come to town in 2019.
  12. I'm sure the Bears wish they could have a redo versus setting the bar for McCarron
  13. I read the article and laughed out loud many times .. the Couch / Holcumb bar reference was priceless .. great work Sal!!!!
  14. Wow .. what a crap take .... kid pumped up 20 reps .. and was defensive player of the year in his conference ... has more heart and drive given what he's overcome ... take him all day long.
  15. I hope the Bills draft Shaquem Griffin LB from UCF ... just busted 20 reps at the combine with prostetic Overview Shaquem Griffin is not just a great story, he's an excellent football player. He lost his left hand due to a rate prenatal condition, but that did not prevent him from being named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in his first year as a starting outside linebacker in 2016. He led the Knights with 57 solo tackles (had 92 total), 20 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks by chasing down plays with speed and wrapping his arms, while also intercepting a pass and breaking up seven others on the year. Griffin was again a first-team all-conference choice in 2017 (74 tackles, 13.5 for loss, team-high seven sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles). He has played football with his "older" brother, Shaquill, since they were young. Shaquill came out of the womb one minute before Shaquem, and also left UCF a year earlier (drafted in the third round by Seattle in 2017) than his brother because he did not redshirt. Shaquem played in one game as a sophomore (against Penn State in Ireland), and then played 12 games on special teams and safety, making nine tackles on the year. Griffin was a second-team All-State pick in Florida as a senior, excelled in 7-on-7 teams growing up, and also could have gone to several schools on a track scholarship. Analysis Strengths Possesses good athletic ability. Smart player who processes the game plan and executes. Attacks face-up blockers with maximum arm extension to keep his frame clean. Carries some upper body power at the punch. Asks for no quarter and gives none. Looks to punish as hitter. Impressive total of 13 passes defensed on 42 targets. Instinctive with the talent to play 3-4 inside backer and 4-3 outside backer spots. Has intriguing burst when edge rushing. Accelerates quickly off the snap and can outrace some tackles to the edge. Posted 18.5 sacks over two years as an outside rusher and blitzer. Plays fast uses good technique. Weaknesses Linear and high-cut. Needs to play with more consistent knee bend. Could use more mass and lower body strength. Contact balance is below average when challenged by power. Disengaging from blocks is a challenge. Unable to make quick exits when play-side shoulder covered by a blocker. Felled by cut blocks. Little margin for error as tackle finisher. Target point as tackler can be a little high. Allowed four broken tackles this year. Draft Projection Round 5-6 Sources Tell Us "The old staff signed him just to make sure they got his brother. The new staff realized the guy was a player and plugged him in and he wins Defensive Player of the Year in his conference. He doesn't have a left hand. That's going to limit him with some things and that's going to hurt his draft value, but he's fast and athletic and makes a ton of plays." -- NFC team scouting director Bottom Line Griffin's physical limitation should be discussed as it pertains to areas like tackle disengagement and consistency of finishing, but his instincts, play speed and technique have all been major factors in helping him thrive at his position. His upfield burst as an edge blitzer and his range as a tackler are two strengths that NFL teams could capitalize on. Griffin could hear his name on day three of the draft, but if not, his competitive spirit and playmaking talent give him a shot to make a roster at some point in his career.
  16. This is great news ... don't want to spend what will be the final bidding war price .. I like him and liked him at MSU .. but not at the pricetag he is going to command without a playoff victory.
  17. Totally agree with this ... only Rosen or Mayfield for me . .prefer Mayfield due to leadership intangibles
  18. Looks like Mason Rudolph has Trump Hands and Josh Allen is Sasquatch Notable QB measurements Player Height Weight (lbs) Hand Size Josh Allen 6'4-7/8" 237 10 1/8" J.T. 19. Want: Kalen Ballage Think: Kalen Ballage Like the run / pass catch ability ..he ran over people at the Sr. Bowl.
  20. Candidly .. I'm not in for Rosen, Darnold, or Allen .. let the top couple picks have them. I don't want to Mike Ditka the draft for any of those guys. My vote would be to trade into picks 7 - 10 .. not as steep of a price ... (Tampa has Jameis) ,8 (CHI has Trubisky) .9 (SF has Jimmy G), or 10 Raiders have Carr ... get Baker Mayfield. This trade also assumes Cousins signs with Denver, Browns, or Jets. We give up Pick # 21, Pick #53 for this year and next year's #2 pick. Otherwise if he's gone Sit tight and hold 21 and 22 .. don't take a QB there ... as history shows pick #22 for a QB is a death spiral. Take the DL and C Price. Edit .. Oh well ... given torn pec .. updating this comment ... maybe Lamar at 21
