Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.
JohnBonhamRocks replied to bill8164's topic in Off the Wall
My reason for thinking it will settle quickly is not what I posted about the legal defenses. That was just for a general FYI. These things just sadly tend to get fairly easily resolved and/or underpunished. -
Anybody Concerned About Our Defensive Backfield?

We know both safeties and nickel corner are set. Dane Jackson is no slouch. We just need him plus the 2 draft picks to not be abysmal at outside corner for a few games. -
Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.

I’d be shocked if this isn’t quickly settled with the season so close. Also: ”Defenses To Statutory Rape Under CPC §261.5 The two basic defenses to a conviction under California's Penal Code §261.5 are: You Didn't Have Sexual Intercourse With The Minor Example: Twenty-three-year old Defendant Darnell is attracted to his neighbor's seventeen-year old daughter, Victim Vicki. Darnell makes a pass at Vicki but she rejects him. Darnell, embarrassed, tells friends at a local tavern that he had sex with Vicki anyway. Bartender overhears Darnell's story and calls Vicki's parents. The parents report Darnell for Statutory Rape. Darnell is arrested and charged under CPC §§261.5(a) and (c). Should Darnell be convicted of the crime? Conclusion: While Darnell may have attempted to develop a relationship with Vicki, he didn't succeed. He then lied about it rather than admit the truth. Therefore, while Darnell did not behave at all well, he can't be convicted of Statutory Rape because he actually didn't have sexual intercourse with the minor. You Honestly, Reasonably Didn't Think The Minor Was Under Eighteen Example: Seventeen-year old Victim Vernon takes his very realistic-looking fake driver's license to a bar, where he meets twenty-one-year old Defendant Don. Vernon uses his illegal license to buy several alcoholic drinks for Don and for himself. He tells Don that he's a twenty-two-year-old college student (which his license seems to confirm) and that he wants to take Don back to his apartment but can't because he lives with other students. Don invites Vernon back to Don's apartment. They have sex and Vernon leaves. Don, however, is shocked to be arrested for violating CPC §§261.5(a) and (c) after Vernon goes home and admits to his parents what happened. Don says he honestly didn't think Vernon was under eighteen and doesn't see why he should've thought otherwise. Should Don be convicted? Conclusion: Don had sexual intercourse with someone who wasn't his spouse. Vernon wasn't eighteen when he had sex with Don. Vernon, however, used an expensive false identification card to represent himself as being a legal adult. He then bought alcohol several times for Don and himself and represented that he was a college student with roommates, which would reasonably explain why Vernon wouldn't take Don to his own home (where, of course, Vernon's parents would actually await his return). Vernon, therefore, repeatedly represented through words and acts that he was old enough to have sex with Don and presented physical evidence to prove it. Since Don could honestly and reasonably believe that Vernon was years older than eighteen under the circumstances, Don shouldn't be convicted of Statutory Rape.” Source: https://www.kannlawoffice.com/statutory-rape.html -

Always considered Cleveland a type of sister city to Buffalo. One of my best friends from college is from Cleveland and a big part of why we became friends was a mutual understanding of how miserable it was to be a fan of our cities’ sports teams. (James left for the Heat our freshman year.) Anyways, safe travels and Go Bills!

Preseason week 2: Broncos at Bills

Fair assessment and it lends itself to the Allen needs to gel with Dorsey line of thinking -

Edited my prior post to mention it, but what do people make of McVay sitting his starters in preseason and winning the Super Bowl? Editing this post to include an article from last year: (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32011689/los-angeles-rams-again-rest-all-starters-preseason-games?platform=amp) He treats training camp scrimmages as a type of preseason and uses preseason games as more of a roster cutdown analysis tool. -

I’d rather it be against one Aaron Donald than 53 Broncos. Couldn’t not read that in Milton’s voice haha (Edit: You ever think of a great comeback later on? Mine is “Oh yeah? Something-Something-McVay-Rests-Starters-Won-Super-Bowl-Something-Something”) - - - To be frank I’m going to the game so selfishly love that so many starters will be playing! -

I get the reasons for playing them, but do think the starters, especially Allen, should sit. Knock the rust off and iron out any lingering communication issues in the 1st quarter against the Rams if need be. Sure, injuries can happen anytime, but that does not mean playing them isn’t risking a lot. Last thing a team with Super Bowl aspirations needs is a significant injury or heaven forbid losing a key player for the season before it starts. -
Chargers Safety Derwin James Massive New Contract
JohnBonhamRocks replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
To be fair, not that he was bad, but the back half of Fletcher’s career has long been described as making a boatload of tackles 5-10 downfield. Regardless, I too have faith a deal gets worked out for 3 main reasons: (1) Poyer wants (and should want ) to be here, (2) Beane is a wizard, and (3) the cap doesn’t exist. -
Was that Zach Moss run actually impressive?
JohnBonhamRocks replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get OP’s point in that it doesn’t seem Moss did anything exceptional to make the run happen. In other words, it was not successful due to a huge display of talent. But regardless, can’t discount the vision he used to see the cutback. That alone was impressive, especially given how down on Moss many have been. -
Big brawl at Pats/Panthers joint practice
JohnBonhamRocks replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sources say the brawl stemmed from an argument over which team could claim the Bills as its daddy. NE pointed to their last game against the Bills but CAR took exception noting how they are basically the Bills’ farm team. More on this at 6:00.
