  1. Yes, the longer you play the more you learn what 2 and 3 letter words are acceptable. I couldn't use qi in a coherent sentence other than something like 'I couldn't use qi in a coherent sentence' It's where the game lost me. I prefer the current set of 'ordle' games that focus on words that folks actually know and use.
  2. I'm a big fan of word games and played Words With Friends for a short while. The premise was great. Where that game lost me was the obscure/ridiculous words (qi could be devastating) and the ability to try any combination of letters until you got lucky enough to come up with a 'real word' - which you had no idea was actually a real word. I still don't know what qi refers to - nor do I care.
  3. RIP to another legendary athlete. MIke Bossy's letter to himself from 2017: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/articles/letter-to-my-younger-self-mike-bossy
  4. 100% agreed. I like the blue cheese for the carrot sticks. Always disappointed when wings are served with celery instead of carrots or ranch instead of blue cheese. Any combo except carrot and blue cheese will end up in the same place as the bones - in the garbage.
  5. I like it. For the life of me I don't understand the vitriol. It's an innocuous Xmas song. Like most Xmas songs I look forward to hearing it every December, but not a song I have any use for any other month.
  6. As I recall, it was Hershisher's dominance (I think he had a 50+ inning scoreless streak in season), a few soul crushing moments from Gibson and an at best average player named Hatcher (Mickey?) having the post season of his life.
  7. We have something in common. Both of our teams got buzz-sawed in 1988 by the Dodgers. Mets looked like they were back to '86 form and had crushed the Dodgers all year. A's were easily the best team in the AL. A's/Mets would have been the matchup of the two best teams but the Dodgers had other plans. Not to pour salt in old wounds but the Gibson HR against Eck was stunning. Gibson got the Mets on a ridiculous catch in the rain in LF when he was stumbling and falling down. And for your Gibson/Eck we had a stunning Scioscia/Gooden HR in the 9th - it flipped the series. As much as you and I were tortured that was a great run by the Dodgers and why I love sports
  8. 1969 Mets - sort of. I have a vague recollection of watching the Mets score on a black and white TV and then going outside to play. I was aware that they won the WS that year, but that's my only memory. Islanders dynasty. But I think most of the games were on cable stations we didn't have so not a lot of memories - except for riding Ranger fans mercilessly. 1986 Mets. Remind me again why I love watching sports and getting disappointed on an annual basis. The good news is the Islanders have been competitive the past few years, the Mets finally have an owner with deep pockets and most of all: Josh and the current Bills regime gives me a lot of hope!
  9. As an out of market fan I was shocked at how much vitriol there was in the Flutie/Johnson debate.
  10. Hmm, I'll grant you that I interpreted "top athlete" as best player whereas you interpreted it as most popular. If I understood the topic as most popular I would never have responded - who gives a flying f##k which players are popular?
  11. I was disappointed Barzal didn't make the list. Probably fair - but not at the expense of Adam Fox.
  12. The topic is top pro athlete. You insinuated most popular (biggest star) into the conversation. And you still didn't bother to answer who is the bigger star and who is the better player between Cole and Scherzer?
  13. You still haven't answered any of my direct questions to the statement you made- which is weak. Yes, the Yankees franchise has an amazing legacy. That has 0 to do with the current top 10 athletes in NY sports topic - unless you are of the opinion that wearing the Yankee laundry automatically makes you a better player than one wearing the Mets laundry. Do you think that?
  14. Are you seriously saying that the Yankees can afford whoever they want, but the Mets can't? Have you been paying attention to MLB lately? But that's entirely beside your original point that I questioned - that the Yankee star is always bigger than the Mets star. I'll try to ask again: if the Yankees star is bigger than the Mets star does that mean he's better? Is Gerritt Cole better than Max Scherzer? Both of those stars chose to play for a NY team - which one is better? Which is a bigger star?
  15. Got it, so you don't actually consider talent - the laundry they wear makes them better. It amazes me that there are Bills fans that have this attitude with other teams they root for.
  16. Jake's first year was 2014. He started in 22 games that year. Since then he started 30 (2015). 24, 31, 32, 32, 12 and 15...so what are these large chunks of time he's missed since 2015? Maybe you fat fingered and meant 2020. With that said, I think it's legit to question whether Jake will be able to stay on the field going forward.
  17. So if you currently play for the Yankees you're automatically better than anyone that currently plays for the Mets? Or are you saying that if you are the best current player on the Yankees it automatically makes you better than the best current player on the Mets? Or is there some other point that you're making here that I'm missing?
  18. Top 3 are the only times I've been to Orchard Park: September 24, 2017: Bills 26 Broncos 16 November 12, 2000: Bills 20 Bears 3 November 15, 1998: Bills 13 Patriots 10 December 31, 2017: Bills 22 Dolphins 16 and Bengals 31 Ravens 27 January 3, 1993: Bills 41 Oilers 38

  20. 3-0 start and we got to listen to the best in the biz tonight. Good times.
  21. I get so tired of sneakin' around Just to get to your back door I crawled past the garbage and Your mama jumped out, screamin' "Don't come back no more" I can't take it My guitar wants to kill your mama My guitar wants to kill your mama My guitar wants to burn your dad I get real mean when it makes me mad
  22. Apple TV has a Friday night package this year, different teams each week. The Friday night games are exclusive to Apple TV but free - you just need to set up an Apple account if you don't have one already. The Apple TV broadcast last night was God-awful in every way imaginable. At one point I turned off the volume and tried listening to radio but there was a half-batter delay so that didn't work. As I'm watching last night I started reading Buck's comments about the three Mets that got hit in the opener. His premise was that it wasn't intentional but it's still not acceptable. He actually made the point that the pitchers should be able to use stuff that let's them grip the ball better - the same way a batter is allowed to. Then I look up at the TV in time to see Lindor take one off his chin.
  23. Do you see anything wrong with that sentiment?
  24. Appreciate the feedback. I trust word of mouth more than other sources.
  25. I think the Rules of Basketball on the side of the Kansas jerseys is cool. But I need NC and < 147 points and that's all that matters to me this evening wrt NCAA hoops.
