I will never understand the 'please close this thread' posts. -
I can't say enough good things about the Ramones. Saw them more times than any other band and they never disappointed. Two great 'dance' covers:

Because if the accusations are unfounded it could be the worst outcome for the guy. Are you familiar with the Duke lacrosse case from 2006? Back then I took the bait and assumed the worst of the accused - turned out that was a big swing and a miss. I have no idea whether that will be the case here but I don't see any need for a rush to judgement based solely on allegations. -

I'm trying to understand your point of view. Is punter the only position that would result in a situation like this? Did the situation arise because punter is "the least important position in the NFL? I think your take is utter BS. "Again all of this could have been avoided if they didn't draft anyone" seems more accurate to me. -
We've had a goldfinch drop by a few times the past two weeks. Can't remember ever seeing one before, had to google to figure out what it was. Absolutely striking!

I think that's a fair point. Lindor is having a great year but I can't think of a defining moment he's had in a big spot. LAMP time: Got lucky this week, me and friends had targeted tonights game for a visit to Citi Field. By Monday it was down to two of us but we decided to go anyway. Lucked into tickets on stubhub at a below-value price 11 rows from the field by 3rd base. As if that wasn't good enough they pushed Jakes start back to tonight. Good times!

Congrats on the two game sweep. Perhaps we'll meet again later this year! -

I couldn't drink a beer through a regular straw. So while I applaud the ingenuity/stupidity/depravity of the hot dog straw - that's a puke emoji for me. -
Due to the brutal August scheudle I hadn't looked ahead to September - good to know. Just a guess on Alvarez but maybe they're not comfortable with him catching for the staff yet.

Obviously disappointing we didn't get the split against the Braves. But I think that was our first series loss to a divisional opponent this year. Braves aren't going away. 2 of 3 against the Astros was impressive - I was hoping the Astros would help us out more.

Awesome. My favorite part is that your kids got you into the game. I'm a lifelong Mets fan - so like you I'm hoping for a championship or two as well this year. And as much as I want one for me I want one for my sons even more. -

IMO, that's an unexpected perspective for a Yankees fan. I'd be interested in what drew you into baseball and the Yankees. -

lol - a few months ago I went to the Capitol Wheel in DC. The guy getting off (pun intended) had two attractive women with him. Told me the ride was too short and he could only take care of one of them. Thought that was pretty damn funny. But looked before I sat.

Nice night at Citi Field in spite of the loss. If I told you Max would give up 1 run in 7 innings and Diaz would have another utterly dominant 9th you'd have to assume a win. Max was in and out of trouble most of the game and in the early innings was consistently behind in the count, meanwhile the Phillies pitcher seemed to be ahead in the count all game and had the Mets hitters off-balance. What can you say about Diaz, he is utterly dominant and his entrance to the trumpets is an event. He has struck out over half the batters he's faced this year. Another noteworthy moment was Vogelbach tagging from second to third in the 10th. Ultimately the Phillies cut down the runner at the plate on a sac fly and we couldn't do the same. Hopefully Jake gets us back in the W column today. LFGM!

Love your insight and perspective @ExWNYer - keep it coming. But - and I hate to be this guy - paragraphs would help. Agreed on the Dodgers - my Yankee bud might agree too. Just thought it was cool to share that a (knowledable) Yankee fan put our team ahead of his. As an aside - I find it humorous that the Yankees Are So Damn Valuable thread only gets bumped when the Yankees win or @Gugny tweaks them. Good times! .
