Apart from Yolo's contention that McDuffie is a slot corner and Elam isn't - none of the vitriol towards the contention that the Bills trade up was a direct reaction to the Chiefs trade up has attempted to explain why the Bills traded up. BTW - my post was in no way unsupportive of the Bills. I'm just interested in why the trade up.
-
Hey @YoloinOhio - I respect your opinion - what's your take on the reason for the Bills trade up? Bills were convinced Dallas would nab Elam?
-
I'm probably out of my depth here. I looked at it as the Bills wanted to come out of the draft with a CB. KC traded up for McDuffie which took him off the board and the Bills may have been compelled to trade up to make sure they got a CB they valued highly. The timing of the trade-ups didn't look coincidental to me.
-
I think it's entirely possible and very plausible.
-
Nobody won a SB tonight, nobody will win one tomorrow and nobody will win one the day after. Drafting your boy would not guarantee winning a Super Bowl. You're either seriously delusional or a world class troll imo.
-
Um, everything is their prerogative. And their prerogative has been pretty damn good of late. Why you think you know more then 'them' is beyond me.
-
Or a reaction to the KC trade up?
-
Maybe the Titans don't value the $$ they'd have paid AJ. My first reaction is maybe this is the start of the commoditization of the WR position similar to what we've seen at RB.

Not sure why you posted this in the Mets thread - but it reminded me of a great SI column by Rick Reilly that included this great line: Don Zimmer, who has had more hard objects bounce off his skull than Gilligan Full article (this belongs in a Mets thread): https://vault.si.com/vault/1999/11/01/the-team-i-love-to-hate

New York Yankees 2022....Aaron Judge sets AL record with HR #62
SinceThe70s replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in Off the Wall
LOL - that reminded me of a fond Yankee memory from my youth. Yankees used to bring in opposing relief pitchers in a pin-striped Datsun that would drive along the warning track and then down the third base line. It got pummeled with beer nightly, especially when it made the turn by the foul pole. I always thought that was hysterical. Of course back then it was paper beer cups and the pitcher was inside a car so it seemed pretty harmless to me. -
As unusual as it is for Arenado to make a throwing error it's a good example of why putting the ball in play is better than striking out. That's obvious to most baseball fans but apparently less obvious to the modern day hitter.

Fun start, 12-5 with Jake on the shelf. There's a lot to like about this team, but concerns as well. Biggest concern for me is the closer. Not sure I can trust him to close out a post season series - or who would be a better/available option. As an aside, Buck's scowl every time a Met gets HBP has become a thing in my household. Good times.

Bad look for the bleacher creatures today throwing stuff at players, on the warning track and hitting an ump: https://nypost.com/2022/04/23/guardians-rip-yankees-fans-after-altercation-worst-fan-base/ But I can't give a pass to the Cleveland outfielder who confronted a fan. Doesn't justify the fan reaction, but that never ends well. Good look for Judge and Stanton leaving the celebration to try to calm things down. -

RIP to another NHL legend. Lafleur was one of the last 10 helmetless players in the NHL.

The statue is great! I got the same picture you've seen a ton of times! I try not to think about what I pay when I got to games, lol. I would definitely go to more if it wasn't so expensive. It was me, wifey and my youngest son. Freaking $30 to park! When I go with a friend who is an ex-cop he has a line on free parking. My wife used to get free tix from work once a year that came with parking so that was a big help. Neither of those were in play last night. Dropped around $275-$300 total. The good news was that tix were only $44 and we had really good seats for that price (section 325).

@Gugny @Another Fan First game of the year tonight, unfortunately a 5-2 loss. Some comments: I had no idea Buck didn't manage until after the game. I wonder if Marte would have run if Buck was there - I thought it was an exceedingly dumb steal attempt. Escobar at DH/Davis at 3B was an odd choice. Canha looked slow in LF to me. Props to Bassitt for gutting through 6 innings after a rough start. Looked like he was headed to an early shower. Wilmer Flores got an opposite field hit in the first - anyone remember him ever doing that for the Mets? Reid-Foley threw two strong innings.

I think yellow for the division (i.e. - AFC East) means correct conference but wrong division.

Has anyone posted the football player version? https://www.weddlegame.com/

Do you remember what you did during recess at school?
SinceThe70s replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
In elementary school you would usually find me playing kickball during recess. Pretty sure there was no no recess after that, but in high school you could do what you wanted during lunch period. When I was in 11th or 12th grade me and my marginally athletic friends would play ultimate frisbee against guys from the JV football team. They were more athletic but the extra year or two we had on them helped and the games were competitive. -
I didn't see this, but the Mets exploited a loophole in the appeal process yesterday. They were willing to trade an out for a run, but our old friend Ollie made a couple of mistakes when he stepped off the mound and Davis broke for second and they didn't have to sacrifice the out. https://nypost.com/2022/04/17/mets-use-loophole-to-end-appeal-play-vs-diamondbacks/

I'm taking my son to a game next week and part of the motivation is to see the statue!
