  1. We recently bought one for my mother and one for my father-in-law. The one we chose works through your home phone (link below) so there are no subscription charges. The unit gets activated by pressing a button. There's a call tree of up to 5 numbers, so if my mother hits the button I'll get called first and if I don't pick up it calls my sister, etc.. and when the call tree is exhausted you can have it call 911. The pendant is really just another phone so if I get called I can speak to my mother assuming she's conscious. It's only good for in-home use though as you need to be within range of the base unit. It came with two rechargable batteries. The pendant uses one and the other sits in a charging bay in the base unit. The battery on my mother's recently needed to be recharged and the unit actually called me to let me know. https://www.amazon.com/Assistive-Technology-Services-Freedom-Pendant/dp/B0083UG11Q/ref=sr_1_1?crid=303BJQ1CWF1LP&keywords=assistive+technology+pendant&qid=1654824556&sprefix=assistive+technology+pendant%2Caps%2C76&sr=8-1
  2. So .761 vs. .746 winning percentage after 17 losses. I don't care who you're playing that's insanely good.
  3. What many sports fans aren't aware of is how dominant Babe Ruth was as a pitcher. For example, 3.0, 0.87 ERA in 3 WS series games with the Red Sox (https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/ruthba01.shtml). He is easily the most dominant baseball player of all time. In football I'll go with LT for most dominant on defense. TB on offense. Hockey it's Gretzky. Carlton was great. In his era Gibson and Seaver were better.
  4. Completely agree.
  5. I missed it but I heard Diaz was lights out last night. Mets have been pretty resilient minus their two best players. I still think this seasons success hinges on one or both coming back and being dominant.
  6. My point on Nimmo and McNeil is that it's not just the players Eppler obtains, but also the ones he chooses to retain.
  7. Would love to see that show but I couldn't justify the ticket price. Only time I saw Janes was in a small venue at a fraction of the price.
  8. Canha looks like a guy that could have come up through the Cardinals system. That team has a penchant for developing players who are solid over spectacular and have long, impactful careers. In general, the Mets GM (Eppler - is it bad that I had to fact check his name?) has brought in or retained some solid positional players. Canha, Marte, Escobar, Nimmo, McNeil. Fun team to watch. Side note #1: I'm dating myself (where is @Misterbluesky when you need him) but Canha reminds me of Joel Youngblood. Boring looking white dude, solid player. Youngblood has the distinction of hitting two HR's for two different teams in two different cities in the same day (https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/joel-youngblood-two-hits-for-two-teams-same-day-1982-mets-expos/jtp9kadw3r171hdjti066djrh) Side note #2: my new favorite non-Met is Brandon Marsh. He crushed a HR Friday night and in his next at bat dropped a bunt towards the vacated 3rd base.
  9. LOL, I 've never ziplined or went skydiving. Wifey has a great sky dive story. Went with her two brothers - their poor mother! It was solo jumps and involved somehow monkey-barring (not sure how else to describe it) under the wing to get far enough from the fuselage before letting go. Of course these days spider crickets scare her. Go figure.
  10. I booked it so now it's just up to the weather to cooperate. It'll be my first time in a hot air balloon. Wifey actually bungee jumped off one years before we met.
  11. First off, thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond so far - keep the suggestions coming. We tend to never vacation in the same place twice and sometimes it takes more than the few days we have to get the lay of the land so all this info is much appreciated. With that said @MarkyMannn, not sure what 'new bridge' is referring to.
  12. You are clearly a master of the obvious!
  13. Thanks - that's probably too much for my drive home day.
  14. Helluva split. Drop the first two and then win with Pedersen and Trevor Williams over Buehler and Urias.
  15. We have a day allocated to Watkins Glen. Not sure how much time we would need there - also thinking of possibly hitting that on our way home.
  16. Thanks. Camping is a non-starter for the wife. Staying at a house we booked on airbnb just outside the park (Portageville). Options were limited because we booked so late.
  17. Me and the fam' are headed to Letchworth State Park in early July. We plan on booking a balloon ride and rafting. Any suggestions for hikes, restaurants or other things to do in the area? My boys are in college and high school. Thanks in advance.
  18. There's a side story where Dom said he would welcome playing every day for another team. I think it's a nothing burger that the local papers are making more of. than need be. And I agree that getting AB's might help him. @Another Fan @Gugny Thought you might like this Q&A with Chris Bassitt: https://nypost.com/2022/06/04/mets-chris-bassitt-on-his-pithing-not-being-normal-dads-tough-love/
  19. Here's another one I play daily. I found that if I put it in hard mode I solve it in less turns but longer clock time. https://crosswordle.serializer.ca/
  20. Yup, pretty sure the Yanks and D'Backs both won the WS the year after he was let go. I'm not the least bit concerned about him wearing out his welcome here - he was/is the right manager at the right time for the Mets IMO.
  21. I had the opposite tonight. Mets gave up 3 top 1 and I shrugged my shoulders thinking it's a long game. Didn't expect to double them up by the bottom of the 2nd! Fun team to watch despite the fact that they are missing 2 of the best pitchers in baseball.
  22. So much to like about the way they've been playing. Last night they trotted out a stat to the effect that the Mets have about as many sac flys already this year as they had all of last year. They definitely had a strong infield last night. Biggest surprise to me is Guillorme is hitting the ball. I've been killing hoim the past few years and now that he is finally hitting my boys are having a lot of fun at my expense.
  23. Great pic of Shea - one look at the parking lot brought back a few pre-game memories. We also took a stroll through the Mets HOF/Museum last night. It's small but has some cool displays. A couple of head scratchers too - like Dom Smith game worn pants.
  24. Had the good fortune of going to the game last. After watching the Phillies this past weekend I felt bad for Girardi. Good hitters but p!ss poor fielders. After Castellano hits the big 3 run HR he gets pulled for defense - only to have his spot in the lineup come up for the big at bat in the 10th. BTW - did you see the catch Escobar made in the 10th? And then he follows it up with the game winning hit. Nothing like the walk out of the stadium after a walk-off win. It was the first walk-off my kids had been to. Good times!
  25. What they teach you to fix, needs to be broke I say he who laughs first didn't get the joke Go on, untap your mind Quit knocking on mine
