Does anyone believe GM Beane about preseason game?
SinceThe70s replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I saw Sammy get targeted on the first possession I thought it was odd. Chalked it up to McD sending a message that Sammy needed to be a big part of the offense this year. In hindsight, seemed like a showcase and if McBeane were on the same page. a non-story. On the other hand, if McD was counting on Sammy and blind-sided by the trade, yikes! -
16 Until the first loss and then 15. Until the next loss and then 14. Rinse, repeat....but never give up!

Cruise Control: Do you use it?
SinceThe70s replied to Southern McButterpants.'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I never use cruise control. Tried it many many moons ago and didn't like it. Personally, I felt like cruise control was an opportunity to lose sight of the task at hand. -

The Jay Bruce trade is small potatoes after today, eh fellas? Hope I'm wrong, but one look at Dominic Smith's belly makes me skeptical.

Go on record regarding the trades
SinceThe70s replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with you. Great teams need great players. But I thought the Bills did the right thing by hedging their bets and not picking up the option. I assumed that was due to injury concerns and made sense to me. If Sammy had a big year and was injury free, we could tag/sign him. My only hope...and this is not intended as ill will towards Sammy...even though it is...is that Sammy does not become the monster we all expected he would be. -
Go on record regarding the trades
SinceThe70s replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The player with the highest ceiling went the wrong direction so as I sit here today contemplating what to drown my sorrow with I do not like this trade. Hopefully in time I'll find I was wrong. -
Agreed, but do you want to see Bruce crush us next week or kill it for the NYY post-season? That's a consideration. Yankee-Met trades are rare.

The Red Rocker! WTF was that all about? Van Hagar? Thanks, but no thanks. Chickenfoot albums were the best thing he was a part of IMO. Ironically Chickenfoot popped up on shuffle on my way to work this morning for the first time since forever! Thoughts on Satriani? I think his albums kill, but saw him last year and was disappointed. Show was spot on, but had no improv like a UM (I know you like them) show,

Sad/Tragic Football Related Death
SinceThe70s replied to SinceThe70s's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No doubt, that's a horrible societal aspect that only adds to the families trauma. -
BADOL: Totally appreciate your point of view even though I'm on the other side of the coin. Love that you trust and respect OP's handling of HIS young twins at a young age...but I'm with most, yikes...good luck with that! The badge of honor later on is cool too. I always wanted my kids to remember their first game, not be told about it and just have a photo memory, but that may be prejudiced by my own experience. For the record my boys (11 and 14) will be attending their first Bills game in September. Timing WRT school finally worked. Wifey wanted to do a pre-season game, but that was laughable to me. Anyway, whatever you do Ship, best to you and your boys!

What the Bruce trade tells me is that the Mets don't view Conforto as a center fielder. I don't either. Ideally Conforto is in LF and Cespedes in RF but that ain't happening. Sigh With that said, dumping Bruce for salary is a bad look, no doubt. BTW, I am LI_Bills...password issues. Let's go Mets!

Saw the early reports on this local story this morning that there was a critical injury during a high school football practice. Hoped for the best outcome but was surprised/disappointed when I saw the outcome reported nationally: http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/20305333/high-schooler-dies-log-falls-football-drill Can't imagine what the parents are going through.

Rob Johnson is a dooooosh
SinceThe70s replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i was a Flutie guy. The only thing that stuck out to me was the autism comment. Classless. The other comments didn't bother me at all and appear to be on point. With that said, this may be more interesting than the Tyrod, Anybody But Tyrod QB controversy. -
I love Umphreys!!! Almost posted the Funk 49/Sweet Emotion mash up. Totally agree on the monster drum kit comment. I have a Zappa Plays Zappa show on DVD. Joe Travers was the bands drummer and had a very basic setup. Terry Bozio was a guest and came out with this ridiculously huge setup. IMO Travers was the better drummer( or maybe the one I liked more, I get your point). As for cred, you got me there. I took lessons and played drums in my formative years (through HS)...but honestly I was nothing special.
-
Not picking a fight, but who do you like more? I always thought he approached the drums as more of a musician than others and that was only based on seeing him once....but from the third row.

Specially NOFX

Nice. Had a Creedence vibe to it.

Saw Rush once many many years ago. For the most part I fixated on Neil Peart, Always thought he blew away every other drummer I ever saw live. By far. Nobody came close until I saw Gavin Harrison play with Porcupine Tree a few years ago.. Not sure if this does him justice:

IK Enemkpali Throws Punch at Cyrus Kouandjio
SinceThe70s replied to Uffalo Ills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Enemkpali "took a swing at Cyrus Kouandjio" ...before fellow offensive lineman Ryan Groy stepped in to make it a "two-on-one situation." Sadly I can't add to the humor value of previous posts (which were awesome), but In a case of cross-thread pollination minutes ago I questioned why nobody on the Jets had Geno's back. -
Geno reflects on "The Punch" one year later
SinceThe70s replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
'Hey, this is not my fault. I'm the victim here, and this guy should be going to jail.' Instead, I manned up. I owned it. I took responsibility for whatever actions I had in that altercation, and I chose to let that fuel me to become a better man and a better player." Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but this sounds like agent-speak that Geno wasn't quite on board with: My actions vs. whatever actions I had...and make sure that anyone listening knows that IK should have gone to jail. I'm not defending IK, but what always stuck with me was nobody on the Jets had the starting QB's back after he got sucker-punched by a backup.
