  1. Fun fact: Stray Cats hooked up with Lemmy from Motorhead and toured together as Headcats before Lemmy's passing.
  2. @Gugny @Another Fan @ExWNYer Last nights game had all the earmarks of a loss. Felt like a given that we'd get burned by Guillorme, Kelenic or even D'Arnaud. And Teheran debuting as a Met against the Braves had trouble written all over it - when we went down 4-0 I almost turned it off. Glad I stuck around. Two comebacks, a gutsy performance by Drew Smith (gotta admit, I'm not his biggest fan) and throw in a perturbed Keith moment and it was a pretty good night.
  3. On Long Island we had an aftershock around 6 PM that was 3.8.
  4. Are you sure it wasn't the breakfast burrito? jk, that may be the furthest I've heard, the other two were @Irv in indianapolis and my son in Maryland.
  5. The race for WC 2 is more than those three teams - and except for the Wings is a race to WC2 and Met 3. But I love the Stooges and agree with the premise that none of these teams don't appear to be serious Cup contenders. But a heartfelt thanks to the Sabres, Hurricanes and (one of my two most hated sports franchises) Rangers for putting the Islanders above a Wild Card spot for the time being.
  6. @FireChans What's your opinion?
  7. @ExWNYer @Gugny @Another Fan RIP Pat Zachry. Came to the Mets in the Seaver debacle trade. I've probably mentioned it but I was at the game where he gave up the hit to Pete Rose that tied Tommy Holmes hit streak. We were on the first base side and when he got to the dugout after the inning I saw him disappear awkwardly. Told my father and the next day we found out he was p!ssed about giving up the hit (could be wrong but I think it was Rose's 3rd AB), tried to kick something and tripped - ended up with an extended stay on the DL. Good times.
  8. My son is in College Park, MD and they felt it. A co-worker in RI felt it as well. He was on a call with folks from Philadelphia who felt it a few moments before he did. The Empire State Building’s official X account jumped into the fray online, quipping, “I AM FINE.”
  9. It'll be a unique opportunity to see MLB up close and personal. Without knowing a thing about the area, it wouldn't surprise me if they pack the place regularly. Especially since they'll only be there a few years. Reminds me a liitle of the Islanders playing in a scaled down Nassau Coliseum while their new arena was being built. Not apples to apples by any stretch cuz the Coliseum was smaller but not tiny, the Isles were competitive and the Coliseum was closer to their fan base than Brooklyn.
  10. Two very different clips from bands of a long time acquaintance. I like both.
  11. I wouldn't characterize myself as checked out, but I had more optimism than others going into the season (it's what I do) and that quickly flipped to pessimism after 2.5% of the games have been played. I watched post game interviews with Manaea, the manager and Lindor and got really deflated. None of them showed any passion, my son and I were just crushing the formulaic and sometimes dumb stuff they were saying.
  12. Damn I forgot the Rush connection - that's the only tour that I saw them live. Pretty scary stuff, eh kids? RIP
  13. @Gugny @Another Fan I didn't see the slide but by all accounts it was clean and tbh I heard a quote from the Squirrel about 'safety first' that sounded cringy. But I have no problem with the reliever making a point by throwing behind Hoskins. Much better than the past few years where all we got is the Buck scowl. On the field, I have really high hopes for Alvarez. Looks like a guy with the skills and swagger to be a great one.
  14. Booty time booty time, across the USA Booty time booty time, hey hey hey hey

  16. Fritos Dark Russet Kettle Chips Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili (honorable mention: Sweet and Tangy BBQ) Dark Chocolate M&M's (honorable mention: Reese's Pieces)
  17. I'm cool with both. In this case the vocals are so true to the original from decades ago that I'm blown away. Not sure if the singer is a 'Karen Carpenter' tribute singer or a singer that nailed a tribute to her. I suspect the latter but could be wrong. Completely agree on pros/cons of 'bringing new life' to covers. To each their own, my wife isn't a fan but I think this is great:
  18. I thought the same and actually closed my eyes to test the theory. It passed.
  19. Bumping @WhoTom's last post. Lyrics feel right.
  20. No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes
  21. After how many years? I had to look it up and was shocked....15 for Marvin.
  22. The song is over I'm left with only tears RIP.
  23. Give me alchemy, give me wizardry Give me sorcery, thermatology Electricity, magic if you please
  24. Oh no, I don't believe it You say that you think you know the meaning of love You say love is all we need You say with your love you can change All of the fools, all of the hate I think you're probably out to lunch
