  1. The bourbon sits inside me Right now I'm a puppet in its sway And it may be the whiskey talking But the whiskey says I miss you every day So I taxi to an all-night party Park me in the corner in an old chair Sip my drink and stare out into space And now you're leaving New York For no better place
  2. I felt like this on my way home I'm not scared I pass the boats and the Kingdome I'm not scared
  3. @muppy Greetings right back at ya! Appreciate all your posts. I love that this thread has gone on for 7 years and somehow avoided negativity. I have no doubt some folks think that some songs I post are utter crap - and tbh I feel that way about some songs that others post. But the toxicity of 'my opinion is sacrosanct' is absent in this thread. Good times. Here's another song in my 'chill' summer playlist that has the distinction of being liked by wifey AND references the Sex Pistols.
  4. Oh no, I don't believe it You say that you think you know the meaning of love You say love is all we need You say with your love you can change All of the fools, all of the hate I think you're probably out to lunch
  5. We don't go out of our way to visit ballparks, but any time we travel we'll check to see if there's a game. The exception was Wrigley - wifey knew I always wanted to go there and she suggested a Chicago vacay that included a game. We had a similar story with Oracle but with a luckier ending. Planned a west coast trip where we flew in to LA, drove up the coast and planned a weekend in SF. Completely lucked into the fact that the Mets were in town and saw Thor dominate and Yoenis hit a late 2 run HR for the 2-0 win. Good times. This summer we're headed up to Montreal and Quebec. Was hoping to squeeze in a CFL game but timing is off. Son wanted to hit up a Toronto game, but couldn't make that work either. Looking forward to hearing about your PNC trip.
  6. Outstanding, enjoy! Just yesterday me and my sons were talking about ballparks we've been to and which ones we'd like to visit and we agreed that PNC is top of the list. We've been to Fenway, Wrigley, Camden, Oracle (Giants) and the Nats. Only the Giants was against the Mets. Hope you both have a great time and the Mets go 2-0!
  7. I'm in summer chill mode, not listening to the crunchy stuff as much. Hope these aren't repeats: Two from Fountains of Wayne: And the elderly Stones making it look effortless:
  8. Two great ones above from Kid Rock. Another I came across recently:
  9. Tattooed love boys got you where I used to lay But ha ha, too bad You know what they say. Stop sniffling You're gonna make some plastic surgeon a rich man Oh, but the prestige and the glory Another human interest story You are that.
  10. Those people who tell you not to take chances They are all missing on what life is about You only live once so take hold of the chance Don't end up like others the same song and dance Motorbreath It's how I live my life I can't take it any other way
  11. Hard to top Fast Times. I wouldn't call this my favorite but Can't Hardly Wait was pretty good. Watched it recently with my son who graduated on Friday. A great B movie was Rock 'n Roll High School.
  12. Well put. The only part I'll push back on is the Astros series being a litmus test. With the exception of the Phillies I think the Mets have held up well against the better teams. Winning the Astros series will be awesome, but if we lose it I won't sweat it. We're due to lose a series and if it comes at the hands of a talented team that's on a heater so be it. BTW, strong early season call on the need for a DH and J.D. Martinez. I was OK with the mix and match approach but J.D. has been a difference maker.
  13. I don't follow the Yankees (Mets fan) but when I saw his slash line during the game last night I was amazed.
  14. By all accounts it will be a sellers market so if they decide to part ways with Alonso or Severino at the deadline they should bring back some nice pieces. The trade deadline is still over a month away and as we've seen in the past month a lot can change, but as it stands right now the only way I'd move either of those players is if it brought back a top top prospect.
  15. One thing missing from this thread is that Bama backer talking up Robert Foster. if only Josh realized what he already had on the roster. My choice would be Moulds.
  16. Love is like a rock (for the record this song is awful)
  17. I was a willow last night in a dream I bent down over a clear running stream Sang you the song that I heard up above And you kept me alive with your sweet flowing love Crazy Yeah, crazy on you Let me go crazy, crazy on you
  18. If I understand what your are asking, I think that society was the bad guy and by proxy so was mlb. I do not think it was mlb's responsibility to cure the ill. In the context of this thread I'm semi-interested in the when and where but ultilmately that's meaningless to me as it's in the past. Bill and Ted put it best: Be excellent to each other.
  19. Looking back through your posts in this thread, there's nothing for you to clarify to me. Be well and prosper.
  20. I'm trying to understand your point of view. On one hand you claim that MLB barred 'them' and on the other hand MLB managed to skirt some laws that @ExiledInIllinois referenced. Would appreciate any clarity on your thoughts.
  21. That is just outstanding! What a great way to honor and shine a light on their legacies and accomplishments. For the record I have mixed feelings about intermingling the stats - simply because they didn't play in the same league. Should we consider Sadaharu Oh the MLB career leader in HR's? And before I get torched I get that it's not a 1:1 comparison given the history of segregation. In the end MLB is in a great place right now - attracting high end talent from across the globe.
  22. Thanks for the tip. We've always had chipmunks but never as many as this year.
  23. An update. Haven't seen the young hawk since Sunday but now we have two medium size hawks spending time together in our backyard the past few days. Pretty sure neither is the mother I saw the other day. Hoping they cull the chipmunk population in my yard.
  24. You tell me where your skeleton's hiding Tell me all and I'll tell you You think you have a real good %#@%ing answer A %#@%ing answer I'll give you
  25. His steed of fury Eyes of fire and mane ablaze Demonic vultures stalking Drawn by the smell of war and pain He roams the star ways Searching for the carcasses of war But if it's hungry then its very presence Disrupts the calm into the storm Curse and damn you all You'll fall by the hand of the Sinner
