  1. You trade down again for a pick in that same round and a second pick next year.
  2. I have hopes in Coleman. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/corey-coleman?id=2555333Bottom Line D Put this guy on the outside and have him run a fly pattern most of the time. That should take two defenders downfield. Draft offensive linemen.
  3. Nice color pants. I disagree. The most important thing this year is to develop the guy and not screw anything up.
  4. Let me add something that hasn't been directly mentioned. Being able to throw an accurate 50+yard pass makes everything else so much more effective. The deep square-in now becomes an easy pass because the CB has to respect being beat REALLY deep. Every fake by the WR is now better because the DB has to delay a split second to guard against being beat deep. The free safety is now a deep safety and his job becomes being around to bail out other DB's who might be beat. The Bills can get a "Bob Hayes" type WR and the defenses have to think about double covering him- giving everybody else more room. (Bullet Bob Hayes was a 100 yard dash track star who converted to football. Originally, he had few moves but he could outrun anybody by 5 -10 yards. https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=mcafee&p=bob+hayes#id=1&vid=2bf9866750ef31fc10fc0bc1fb92b0e3&action=click ) A nice thing about this type of player is that most teams can't use them and also most teams don't have DB's who can match them 1 on 1. A cheap draft pick can get you a home run guy that the other teams have to game plan against. WHOOOT !!
  5. Rudolph was a steal in the 3rd round and, except for the large number of highly rated QB this year, would have been a low 1st, high 2nd round pick. Pittsburg is usually going to be drafting in the 16+ slot and can not expect at getting a consensus top QB in the draft, without giving up something more than two years of 1st and 2nd round picks. ... so, taking two or three 1-for-4 shots for the replacement QB, rather than a very expensive 1-for2 shots is a smart move to do. Rapensberger seems to be a self-centere butthead because the team put the team's interest over Ben's selfish interest.
  6. now that he is a bill, I am.
  7. You have to know a bit about the business and how to deal with people and pick the right people. It is not necessary to have played linebacker. Soooooo, you think the position can not be defined,,,, so how do you know she isn't qualified for it. Or she could do just fine. ???
  8. No QB with 4 letters in their first AND last name has ever made all-pro in even numbered calendar years.
  9. Heh? A CEO does not get down into the nittie grittie. They don't have to know that this guy did 37 lifts and this guy only 32. They delegate that work and set general directions. They set objectives and set teams to work towards them.
  10. I'm looking at this draft this way. We had three picks in the first 3 rounds and got a high-ceiling project QB, a very good MLB and a DT in the 3rd who should have been in the 30-50 range. That is a success. I wanted to pick up a remake of the o-line with picks 53, 56 and 65. Looking at how the draft shook out, all the good ones (3 good centers especially) were taken earlier than that and it was mostly DB's taken in that area. So we didn't miss on rebuilding the line, unless we consolidated the picks and drafted up to get 1 or 2 guys. Not that smart to reach for early 2nd round guys. Let's hope Allen can handle the greater speed of the pro game. If so, we are in good shape.
  11. Allen was not my favored prospect because of uncertainty about his ability to process at the pro speed and some inconsistency in accuracy. I thought a better route was to hope for one of the other 3 top QB's or keep picks and take somebody lower. But a lot of football people and scouts liked Allen regardless and they could be right as well. We have him now, so lets support him and get on with life. We got a stud linebacker and what might be a very good QB in the first two rounds. Let's hope we can back-fill the o-line with something and have a good year. One good thing about Allen is that it will become obvious within two years if what I think are issues are real or not. We can take another swing at a franchise QB in 2020.
  12. Well, he is a Bill now so lets talk about how to improve the o-line
  13. I have been against Allen because of his 2 years of community college and 2 years in the 7th rated conference. He hasn't proven that he can process things at the high college level/NFL level and hasn't proven that he can do tight throws against NFL speed. I considered it too much of a risk and looking at the first round, we would have been better to take Rosen and a lineman (or two). If Allen is able to learn to the next level, we are in good shape- I didn't think it was worth the risk. Now that he is here, he has my full support. By the way, I was wrong when I was saying that the McBean's would never go the way of a QB at any cost. They did.
  14. Nothing for the offensive line. 2018-2019 is going to be interesting.
  15. Hot. I was around in 1969 and a girlfriend of my future wife (they worked at the same insurance agency where Harry Jacobs sold insurance in the offseason), used to hang out with bikers at the Anchor Bar. the friend was pretty wild and used to wear real short pants and tall boots. We had to pick her up and rescue her a few times. I like using Franks Red hot sauce but slowly think that Sriachi works too. Does anybody else remember buying 6 packs to carry into War Memorial? I'm in this film, can you see my face in the stands?
  16. I'm set. Every team is going to trade up or trade down. Everybody with an early pick is hoping some fool will give them 3 firsts and 2 second round picks. Every team thinking of draft up is going to give a third rounder to get one step ahead of a rival and get a gold jacket QB. Nobody in the entire world will know actually what REALLY happened, except 148 guys at 2BillsDrive. Some guy from the 3rd round will QB his team to the SB and 145 guys at 2BillsDrive will say they predicted it.
  17. Get a guy who has proved he can do it, rather than a guy who hasn't but might do it better. I use this line in bars as well.
  18. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2018/04/23/its-a-quarterback-heavy-nfl-draft-but-the-three-best-players-arent-qbs/?utm_term=.19c8237a46c2 General Manager Brandon Beane said at the Bills’ pre-draft news conference that it could be a successful draft for the team even if it doesn’t use an early pick on a prospective franchise quarterback. “There’s a lot of good players in this draft and that was the big thing from moving from [No.] 21 to 12,” Beane said of an earlier trade with the Cincinnati Bengals. “The natural assumption — I get it — is: ‘They’re moving up to get a quarterback, yada-yada.’ No, we improved our draft position. … We’re excited about where that moves us on our draft board, the players that we see would be available there.”
  19. Darnold and Mayfield will be gone by 3 at the latest. Personally, I think the Giants realize that they will not have such a good chance to replace Manning as this year, so they might be gone before #3.
  20. Actually, maybe we should cut the guy a little slack on his attitude. I grew up in a town that was 1/3 Jewish and nearly all of my friends were Jewish. There is a style of family relations that is all about bragging about "My son the doctor, or my son the lawyer or my son the rabbi" That would be considered brash and uncouth by other sub-cultures, but isn't a big deal. Maybe we are just seeing a bit of that in him, tooting his own horn.
  21. Gee, somehow people can instantly know that some 20 year old kid is the next sure franchise thing, even if he is playing at a low level program. But it takes 3-4 years to figure out he isn't going to make it in the pro's, even when he is playing in the pros. Let's think about some of those, sit-on-the-bench-for 3 years fellows. If they were sitting on the bench for 3 years, I think that suggests that they were on a pretty successful team. The guy ahead of him at QB was doing well,,,,, gee that might mean that the supporting team was pretty good, and for 3 years they ALSO didn't have to waste a bundle of high draft picks on a QB prospect, because the prospect was on the bench? It shouldn't have, but Allen reminds people of EJ because both were big, strong, throw-it-thu-a-brick wall guys. EJ played in a very simple system with a good supporting cast, but never could make the step up because he couldn't process information fast enough and choked on very simple pass patterns. Allen played a simple system at a community college and then low level of competition, and may not be able to make that same step up.
  22. Allen played his first two years of college at Reedly Community College and this was his record one of those years. Then he sent letters to 350 NCAA division I teams and got two replies. He then played two years at Wyoming, which was the 7th ranked conference in the NCAA. They played teams mainly in the 100's to 200's and did so-so. His senior year they beat Gardner-Webb 27-0. They did play two top 50 teams that year Oregon and Iowa- his QB rating in those games was 6 and 30. ...... Sorry, one of the criteria of most people is that a high candidate should have 3-4 years of success against top notch competition to show they can do it year after year. Trying to extrapolate from such a low level to the pros is risky and IMO, foolish. But he does look good in shorts. Has he ever tried to pass against DB who have the closing speed of the NFL guys? Nope, he played 3 or 4 levels below that. It is the schedule of the junior college where he played two years.
  23. Allen has two years of college experience against the following teams in his league. (Their 2016-2017 scheudle) Do you think that Ohio State would be scared of this schedule?
