Beane didn't panic, he exercised patience. Allen wouldn't have made it to 12, though Rosen may have. Allen certainly has the best arm in the draft, though Rosen is the best passer in the draft. There is a difference.
He tweeted a quote from a popular sitcom that he thought was funny and some lyrics from a rap song that was popular. Get over it.
The rest of your post is hogwash anyway.
I think it's more trusting the talent around him, which he hasn't had the luxury of in the past. I also think he's going to need to learn to dial it back a bit and take what the D gives you at times. He wants to throw the go on 3rd and 8, but in the NFL it pays to see that and take the 12 yard in instead.
I think Allen is already at a pretty respectable level when it comes to pre-snap reads and recognition. Because of that, I believe his progression would benefit most from actual game experience. If he's learning from the bench instead then I'm okay with that too, but that's my take on his development process. People may tell you that he needs to work on his footwork, and I'd agree to an extent, but I'm not sure that practice reps will do much if he's not also practicing the changes in the heat of the moment against a live defense.
I don't think Crosby gets that far. O'neill or Harrison maybe. Or go inside instead with a Wyatt Teller
I still want Braxton Berrios late because I think he's a match made in heaven for Daboll.
If there's one thing that's abundantly clear at this point it is that the team will move as necessary for players they like. Trade back for White, Trade up for Zay, Trade up for Dawkins, Trade up for Allen, Trade up for Edmunds.
I think Allen has a good enough mental grasp of the game that experience will benefit him more than learning theory on the bench. So I think he should start early, learn, and take his lumps as they come. But please do not mistake that as me being disappointed if he doesn't start early.
