Just so we're clear, I want to clarify 2 points:
1) I don't have a basement.
2) I don't have underwear on when I'm looking at my Josh Rosen poster, or his film in general.
It was either McD or Beane who responded to this (it was a reporter question) by saying "I'm not sure, but I'd bet he'd like the opportunity [to play 3-tech]."
Watkins was gone when we acquired Matthews. He was supposed to be a replacement. But he was 4th string on Philly by that point and him being a #1 in 2016 was a big reason why Wentz needed upgraded weapons that offseason.
Can we go back to this for a second? In 4 games with Mike Glennon, he had 11 catches for 125 yards and 1 TD. In his first 4 games with Tyrod he had 13 catches for 203 yards and 1 TD. Heck, he was 18 yards shy of his yard total on the season in his first appearance for the Bills.
I think this will be one of the biggest benefits of Daboll. His most recent stint was in college, so he is very familiar with how to dial back the offense enough to maximize the production of some one still learning.
Rosters are still very much in flux and ours in particular has a lot of unknowns. I'm not sure that power rankings are going to be very meaningful (using that term loosely) until mid-season.
He started doing well when he moved into the slot instead of playing out wide. I really hope they don't try to put him back out wide unless he's made significant strides.
With all the turnover the past couple years it's really tough. But if you believe the FO knows what they are doing then I think the young core players are pretty safe bets. Guys like Tre White, Dion Dawkins, Edmunds, Phillips, Allen, etc.
Sounds like excuses. Let's just hope Zay has improved in his knowledge of routes and he's on the same page as Allen. His catches in traffic, or lack thereof, were the other concerning thing from last year, but maybe with the added velocity from Allen the ball will get there sooner and it will be less contested.
