  1. In another thread I responded to grading Daboll and I continue to ask why in the fourth the Bills can look so good (and these are all one score games), but seem to bog down the first three. They've scored 53 points in the 4th (not including the on-side kick vs. Miami) with Allen, so are averaging 10.6 points & have scored 61 points in the first 3 quarters or 12.2 so to me that is the most interesting stat. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/4th-quarter-points-per-game How about playing every quarter like it is the fourth????
  2. Yup, It's all on Allen as every QB in the NFL finds the open receiver every time except Josh. No one has ever missed a deep ball either and only Allen throws Ints...... Then come the 4th quarter Allen finally follows Daboll's plan and Daboll engineers all those points. Again the question is how the Bills in close games (seem to score in the 4th when needed), but not so much in 1-3...... They've scored 53 points in the 4th (not including the on-side kick vs. Miami) with Allen, so are averaging 10.6 & have scored 61 points in the first 3 quarters or 12.2 so to me that is the most interesting stat. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/4th-quarter-points-per-game Sheez.....
  3. I want to believe in Allen & think he has the ability. The offensive schemes & play calling unfortunately still lacking in my view. What we have seen is when the game is on the line in the 4th, he has produced, which tells me the coaching for the majority of the game holds him back.
  4. Someone wrote it, so must be correct..... Right???? Wrong.... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/2001.htm Threw for over 300 in his 3rd start. By 2002 (one year under his belt) had 3 300 yard game, 28 TD's & 3800 yards passing..... And the Pats were only 9-7..... So when you post something, check the stats first. Also a different game in 2001/02 vs. 2019 BTW Wrong on Brees too...../
  5. How come Kyler Murray can throw for 300 in his first NFL start, but excuses abound for this Offense? How have the Bills gone 40+ games without a 300 yard game (yes a #, but a standard often sited)?
  6. Again missing the point as many here are as they talk about the Defense and "baby" steps. The Bills offense has been a dumpster fire since 2015 & always some excuse. Happy to see some improvement, but want to see more. Take a look at 2015 & who was at the bottom & they seemed to address it..... Look at 2016/17/18 and again we see teams that have turned it around. Is it too much to want the Bills to do the same. Always an excuse.
  7. Yes I want offense & 300 yard passing games. That is what entertains me. Yes & winning doesn't hurt too. Will say it over and over that I have no interest in a 14-7 defensive struggle, which should be the exception not the rule. Seen way too many of those (and blow-outs) as a Bills fan. Just once I'd like a 35-31 game. Looking at this years stats confirms the Bills are better but pretty much in the lower third and have had an easy schedule. What's sad is just how bad the Passing line has been since 2015. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?seasonType=REG&offensiveStatisticCategory=TEAM_PASSING&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=TOTAL_POINTS_GAME_AVG&tabSeq=2&season=2019&role=TM&Submit=Go&archive=false&conference=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=null&qualified=false And to think they are 5-1 and had to come back & win in the fourth in 4 of 5 games. The Bills need to assert themselves and bury these bottom feeders and be life & death in the fourth. Yes and I will keep banging the drum........
  8. Again this is not an elite defense. It is a good one, but not Elite.... Stop it. It is pretty obvious that having one of the worst offenses year after year has resulted in such low expectations.
  9. And thus the question as to why they can't play similarly for 4 quarters & score points. Again the defense is good and I'd claim far from great. But others will tell you how great the defense is and the O needs only to make no mistakes & score 14-20 points/game. Miami shredded them.
  10. Not including the NE game and in their 5W's. Avg. Allowed Scored Miami 36 pts/gm 31 (inlcuding the On side kick). NYJ 26.5 17 Cin 27 21 Tenn 16.33 14 NYG 26.5 28
  11. C & that is generous. Need to see them put away a team and not struggle for portions of the game. First half they were great vs. the Giants & then let them get back in the game. Not enough slants, quick hit and passing yards. 5-1 & largest lead no more then 14 as the Bills then shutdown.
  12. The point is that McDermott and many on this board have been going gaga over this Defense that played superb vs. NE & has played also against some of the worst teams in the NFL (particularly on offense). Yes the reason for the thread was too many here were trumpeting the Defense as so good that all the offense needs to do is put up 14-20 points a game (and no turnovers) and the Bills are "Golden". Sorry the offensive game calling and mindset should be 30 points+/game.
  13. Rain, two defensive scores and a different narrative on Lamar Jackson who had great running #'s, but passing was almost all due to 2 long throws. But the media loves him & 9-20 & 143 yards is perfectly acceptable. The Bills move the ball, they just seem incapable of piling up big yards and yes I want to see that 300+ yard passing game.
  14. The point was, when anyone here laments about the offensive scheme & play calling, some here went on about just how good the D is and that 17-13 works for them. The Bills have had just a ridiculously good schedule to date and certainly taken advantage of it, but they need to understand that at the end of the day this is an offensive league and need more then 17 points most weeks (today they needed at least 22).
  15. I have..... It is my continual concern that this coaching staff is too pre-occupied with Defense and thinking that games can be won 17-13, 14-10 on a consistent basis. I want to see this team concentrate on Offense for a change.
  16. Miami had scored 42 points prior to today & seemed pretty competent on Offense (on the road no less) against a Defense that had some here going on and on about as the best in the league. Many were calling them the best in the 2019 NFL (or top 3)...... And McDermott coaches the Offense as if they are and can win every game 14-10..
  17. As were the Monsters of the Midway or the 2000 Ravens and the Bills can not win every game 17-13? Today we saw Miami almost beat them and if not for a bad Int at the goal line (and subsequent 98 yard drive) and a bad fumble the Bills again play to their competition. This trying to control the clock and game between the 20's is a dangerous recipe and the Bills need to know how to score in the high 20's.
  18. Exactly. The play calling and and not innovative at all. I want this coaching staff to map out a game plan to score 30 points, which they refuse to do.
  19. And they've played only one team with a semblance of any offense (NE). Very good, but schedule has helped too.
  20. It's not that entertaining 17-13 imo. Again what was a better game to watch the 13-3 Superbowl or the NFC & AFC Championship games? Oh yea and NE had to put up 37 points in that game to make the Superbowl...... KC too were a dear in the Headlights scoring 0 the first half.
  21. How about being entertained? As a Bills fan they are winning so yes that makes me happy, but if you are just watching the game as a football fan, the games are not that much fun.
  22. Welcome to the 10% or less..... 6-3 games after 1 (imo) is more then enough. We are not a fun team to watch (outside 4th quarter comebacks). Frankly I'd like to see this team down by 14 and see what they have (yeah yeah I know NYJ). More so I'd love to see a shootout.
  23. You do realize that even amongst the most ardent fans (I'd bet 90%) would have no interest after a while watching 6-3 games???? My friend was in Tennessee and has been a season ticket holder driving down for 30 odd years and he commented how boring a game it was. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/270428-worst-game-ever-buffalo-vs-cleveland-review But keep fondly reminiscing about that Cleveland game...... Oh I forgot Buffalo lost......
  24. It is as I say over & over the idea that McClappy preaches about the game being played between the 20's. The Bills can move the ball, they just often turn conservative and continue to play for a 17-13 game, vs. where the NFL is going, which is 27-24 (or higher). Eventually it will bite them in the a$$. Yes I want them playing with the mindset that they need to score 30+ every game & not ball control.
