  1. If the opposing team puts up 30+ points (and you're behind) I defy you to show me how often you can win without throwing for 300. The Bills are anethema about throwing for 300 & that is the issue. It is not a dirty word!!!
  2. Because the Bills seem incapable of doing it..... Yes I know they did it once this year in a blowout...... All the best QB's are capable of throwing for 300..... The Bills seem to treat it like a plague..... And how many were when both threw for 300...... Oh that Chiefs/Rams game or Chiefs/Steelers, NO/Atl, LA/Minn..... What lousy games & QB play...... What a crock when that stat is brought up.
  3. I saw too many drops, no aggression going for balls, no contested catches, bobbles, no great catches and lack of detail in running patterns. To each his own I guess......
  4. Yes the improvement was noticeable, but I am appalled at just how bad his rookie year was. Still a long way to go.
  5. We can go back & forth about his contribution to the team & whether a true #2. Here is a neat analysis I found. Some great detail. https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/zay-jones/ From what I see, he has not met expectations. Interesting is that his metrics are all 79% or better. I want to see the 5 contested catches he made this year (I don't remember 1)...... Year 3 will be make or break imo.
  6. I went to a bar in Toronto (due to the blackout) with a friend and not many were there and at half I said let's stay for the first possession (pretty sure the Bills were getting the kick to start the second half) and then we'll leave. Left we did when the Bills won it in OT!!!!! We were so close to being gone. Actually when you look at the box score, wasn't as big an offensive performance as I remembered.
  7. Shaw66 I know expectations for all Bills receivers are so low that the fact a receiver can make even a slight adjustment (as Zay did on the first TD) is reason for a ticker-tape parade, but I do expect more. As Alphadawg7 says I want to see some separation, catching 50/50 balls (called that for a reason and the Bills are 5/95 on those), better adjustments and nowhere near the # of drops we saw the first two years. BTW Zay has one of the worst catch % (though much improved this year). https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneZa00.htm Here is an interesting stat page too. https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/zay-jones/ I expect exponential improvement from him in 2019. Again though much may come down to the OC get getting the right pieces.
  8. The thread was not per se about the draft, but about what the Bills need to do to be better. I imagine they'll hit on a few picks, miss on others, someone drafted after will be a star and here there will be grumblings as to why they passed on him. That's what happens in every draft. I love basketball and look at Michael Jordan who was drafted #3, Vince Carter #5 after Raef LaFrenz, Mike Olawakedi, Mike Bibby & Antwan Jamieson (traded at the draft) and examples like this every year. The draft will build the team and offer pieces that hopefully help some in year 1, but really starts to pay off in year 3+...... I am only worried about 2019.
  9. Alphadawg7 is bang on about Zay. I want him to make the leap, but every issue pointed out is legit and this is coming from a fan who watches football and sees him struggle doing the simple things..... Year 1 i remember clearly a simple out pattern where he thought he was still in college, did not tap feet and only got one foot down. This was an easy play with plenty of time to get the feet in and just did not. This year I did not see him make a great catch, fight for a 50/50 ball, show separation or show good crisp cuts. I too look at that pass at the end of the first Miami game, where he actually may have adjusted for the ball and as per usual bobbled it and upon review it was incomplete. Would have been a nice, not great catch, but again missed making what would have been a game changing catch, because he bobbled and in the end trapped the ball against the ground. Sure he'll be back, but I'd pencil him in as the #3 & ask him to prove me & the Bills wrong.
  10. My guess is they sign a # of throwaways and projects and claim the best of the fa's were too expensive. I do not need another Zany Jones'. Hope I am wrong.
  11. The point is so what? There are draft boards and maybe someone moves up or down. Frankly I don't care a whole lot. For 2019 I want to see commitment to the offense and no excuses if they bring in more bargain basement projects.
  12. Sorry it is often a crapshoot and if the Bills hit on a few picks all the power to them. In 2018 they did what they had to do & drafted a QB and fingers crossed. 2019 will all be about what they do to address the offense and whether they are true to their word or can attract FA talent. 2018 was the worst collection of WR's in the league & an offensive line that was porous on the best of days. McD & Beane better make a splash on the offensive side in FA and please no 3rd & 4th stringers as we've seen in the past (i.e. Matthews, Benjamin....).
  13. It was a pretty simple pitch & catch imo. The important thing was that JA was accurate and Foster caught the ball. Again a simple play for NFL players, but with so many comments about Allen's accuracy, in this case you couldn't have placed it better or made for an easier catch.
  14. Again yesterday watching only 2 minutes of a bowl game & a better catch by a college receiver then all year by a Bill. It's amazing watching other games and every game there are 4-5 catches that the Bills did not make all season. Sad part is the excitement generated by a 225 yard passing day. Bills fans have been beaten up way too long.
  15. Watch the All22 yet? Still waiting for your analysis of the Foster catch, where you gave accolades to the catch (and "supposed" adjustment), not the throw. But heck maybe you too are coming around??
  16. OP is not an Allen fan. I haven't watched enough of the others, but saw Darnold play worse then Allen vs. NE in back to back weeks, which means little, but if an Allen fan you'll say he's much better then him. Jackson looks good, but I don't think he's a good passer, but again has a much better offense and team behind him. I too expect the Chargers to win on the weekend. Look how quick Goff went from looking like a bust to a star when they added a great coach and a receiving corp (and oh yes Gurley in the backfield). As I keep harping, wake me up when a Bill receiver actually makes a play to help his qb.
  17. Well count me in as excited for 2019, albeit still concerned with the coaching on the offensive side of the ball. The fact one can be so positive and in retrospect realize that Allen's best passing game in terms of yards was 245 makes me wonder whether we as fans are just so starved here to see some offensive production.
  18. And how few do the Bills have. Outside a lull in the second quarter where I'm 100% convinced they were ready to go in a shell and play for 17-14, the ofeense was there almost the entire game. I am very excited to see what happens with some skill players around Allen (and an Oline).
  19. Surprise surprise, you show up in another thread to denigrate Allen..... Stick to your recaps..... We get it..... You aren't sold on Allen (I don't follow the draft closely, so let me guess you wanted Rosen or Jackson and thought this was a disastrous pick). I for one am excited about the Bills QB for the first time in ages and fingers crossed that the Bills recognize the travesty that is their offense and build one this year and that Allen will be a great QB. Here's to hope!
  20. No. Only Allen throws bad passes. Get it right or don't bother posting.
  21. There was no adjustment, that is where the pass was thrown and is a designed play. It was pitch & catch. That td was all Allen and Foster was the recipient.
  22. Okay then, why were you impressed with Foster and his TD catch (2 catches all game)? It had nothing to do with him, but running the right route and catching a perfect throw. Btw I agreed the int war a terrible but thought the first down call put them in a bad position and he made a lousy call and a rookie mistake.
  23. You're right,Allen threw 9 incomplete one and a pick 6. The 5 TDs were nice, but we need to focus on the pick 6 and 2 bad slant passes. Oh and Foster made Allen look good on that TD pass I get it now..... My bad.
  24. No your comment and follow-up was irritating. Call them as I see them.
  25. Yes, they should have played to get in to fg position, but the first down play was saying "we want to go into the half up 14-7", which was typical McD. As said a lousy read and pass, set up by the first down call. Much like the Bills run run pass playcalling.
