  1. I picked some contemporaries, none of them considered stars, with some having signed huge contracts & put together good careers. I included Goff, who looked like a bust his first 6 games under Jeff Fisher & lo & behold an innovative smart HC did it almost immediately under him (1st or second game). Trubisky may not be a great QB, buit did it quickly too. Bridgewater is now a serviceable back-up and had bad breaks and was considered a good prospect, did it quick too. You really have an issue with Deshawn Watson? We too know Lamar did it week 1 vs. Miami. Carr week 7, Prescott week 10 (great team went 13-3 a year after Romo was injured after a 3-1 start that lost 11 of next 12) I decided not to go on about the future HOF QB's playing today, but showing that everyone seems to do it within 10 games.... Remember too that no one thought anything of Tom Brady year 1 as he was a 6th round draft pick in a different game back then. Everyone I've pointed out does it approximately 3X's/yr...... The Bills are on to game 42 without one..... And I probably expect Allen will need 300 yards this weekend, because I do expect Cleveland to score 24 minimum.
  2. Forget the OP..... I am going through the top 20 QB's in 2019 & how long it took them to reach 300 yards. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/passing.htm#passing::pass_rating It is quite apparent that the answer is "NOT LONG". The outlier is as people have pointed out Russell Wilson who did it as a 3rd round pick & in his last game of the season in the playoffs. Also note how good & dominant his team was his first 3 years (especially the defense). We have already commented on Rivers, Brady, Brees, Rodgers.... Let's looks at the others. Stafford threw for 416 on a team that went 2-14, but won that game (was injured & started only 10 games). Cousins was the back-up to RG3 & did it within his first 10 games Watson within his first 6-7 games Bridgewater 4th game..... Trubisky in under 10 years....... Allen is now 19 starts & most passing yards in a game is only 253... Could keep going, but using this list it is obvious they all do it quickly, and how that is considered a bad thing and doesn't result in a quicker learning curve and positive long-term results just does not know football. 20 passes a game & under 200 yards passing can happen from time to time (either you blow out a team or get blown out) but is not a good learning curve for a QB....
  3. That we are up two td's+ against lousy teams headed into the fourth and have shown the ability to move the ball up and down the field.
  4. Shaw66 expected better from you. If the Bills were 6-2 and the 6 wins were convincing, there'd be plenty of press. They have been in tight games into the fourth in every game vs. teams with 0,1,1,1,2 & 4 wins (oh and they missed 4 fgs in the game).... If the Bills beat the Pats, maybe then it'd be a different story.
  5. I expect 1-2 games that they win convincingly against terrible opposition. 9 Weeks & I counted 43 games where there was a minimum of a 10 point spread entering the 4th...... or about 5/wk...... And again 300 is a benchmarks that every great QB hits fairly early and is not a difficult feat, unless the Buffalo Bill. The fact we can't reach 300 vs. lousy teams is disconcerting. I keep saying as a huge Bills fan I want to know what Josh Allen is and 20 passes/game is not enough.
  6. I'm comparing coaching staffs that thought their Defenses were so good, that QB play was secondary. Well their Defenses are good, maybe very good, but not elite & can't overcome bad QB play & offensive schemes. The Bills need to know what they have in Allen & 20 passes/game & <200 tells me nothing vs. teams with 0-2 wins & bad defenses.....
  7. Yes I am beating the drum again as I want Allen to succeed and be a star in this league. The last 4 weeks we see Allen's #'s going down. Weeks 1-3 uneven but 240-255 yards passing and since then less & less. The Mantra of mistake free football and less & less passing yards is concerning as I want to see what the Bills have in Josh Allen. He has as others have said looking more & more like check down Tyrod thanks to this coaching staff. Even those preaching at the foot of McD & going on about the Process talk about that 4-5 year plan. Take a look at the Bears & Jaguars & what happened to them. Two teams that thought they had Elite Defenses and only needed a game manager to not make mistakes & take them deep into the future. Bortles is the butt of jokes (watch The Good Place) and not sure where he even is. Truibinsky just put up 125 yards & is close to being benched or labeled a bust!!!! If this is a 4-5 year process don't we need to see who the Bills have in Josh Allen?
  8. And that is exactly the same mistake that Chicago has done with Trubinsky & Jacksonville with Bortles & when needed we know Bortles is a Bust (watch The Good Place to see what a joke he is) and Trubinsky looks to be headed that way too. Got to see what the Bills have in Allen!!!!!
  9. And again Wilson was drafted in the third round, not the first. His first year the Seahawks went 11-5, not 6-10..... The team went 11-5, 13-3 & 12-4..... There defense was much better. Take a look at their points differential too where they didn't need 300 yards passing. The Bills are 6-2 granted but a point differential of 27 and every game they needed to put up points & move the ball in the fourth. Can compare some things about them, but the teams surrounding them were different.
  10. It's beyond easy, it's been a joke to date & that is why I keep wanting to see or get an idea of what the Bills have in Josh Allen and I have no idea thanks to Daboll & McD. To be excited that they have either had to come back or were in games that were one score games in the fourth quarter are red flags. So they've beaten teams with 0, 1, 1, 1 & 2 wins is making great strides because they did not lose???? Another poster drinking the McD Koolaid and spouting off about The Process...... And yes 300 yards passing and a vertical game with Allen is important to see if they have something. Funny too that Allen's passing yards have gone down since week 3 and never has had more then 255 in a game. Remember this is the coaching staff that had Nathan Peterman start vs. LAC and named the starter in 2018.
  11. We can only hope.......? Also they have the best receivers the Bills have faced all year. Sure they can screw it up though.
  12. And again what does that mean for the Bills? Chubb is a great back, which is not a good match-up. Cleveland has had a very hard schedule.
  13. This schedule has been beyond a joke in how easy it has been. They have played 3 teams with more then 2 wins & are 1-2. To put into context Wash beat Miami, NYG (the juggernaut with 2 W's) beat Wash, Miami beat NYJ.... Only NYJ win was against an actual winning team Dallas.
  14. Yes they had the longest streak going into 2017 missing the playoffs, but generally they were just bad (not a laughingstock) as they were generally between 6-9 & 9-7.......
  15. I then don't see growth beating the teams they have beaten, since all 6 wins were within one score into the fourth quarter.
  16. It was a fair analysis, same as your weekly detailed breakdowns, which one can take it or leave it. The point is that the Bills have had as easy a schedule as possible. Only three Road games vs. NYJ, NYG & Tenn to boot. The 4 win Tennessee game is their signature victory. Other wins vs. teams with 0, 1, 1, 1 & 2. Washington's only win vs. Miami & Miami's vs. NYJ......
  17. What is it then? The Bills D did play very well vs. NE, quite well vs. Tennessee (who also happened to miss 4 fgs!!!). Otherwise the D has been AVERAGE and has played only one team with an above average Offense (Philly). Rose coloured glasses?
  18. Quit talking logically.... Wonderful that the Bills are 6-2. This however has been a ridiculously easy schedule and again every win was either a comeback or within one score into the 4th quarter. The OC and HC just refuse to see what the offense can do (or are just plain bad). As stated over & over I want to see 4 quarters of football from this offense. To use the car analogy, is the Bills offense a ford Focus, a well tuned BMW or a Ferrari? Is the QB a 16 year old who's never driven a manual or an F1 driver? No idea thanks to this coaching staff.....
  19. A+++++. McD D, Daboll D.... Just watched the Seattle TB game..... That is fun football..... This 1960's football is doing Allen no good & still hard to say whether this is the QB of the future. Do people really want the 2018 Bears or 2016-2018 Jacksonville not knowing for way too long whether Trubinsky or Bortles are QB's to win games for them?
  20. I watch football, because it can be entertaining. I watch the Bills because they are my team. The Bills won..... Great Unfortunately the Bills are not entertaining.
  21. Again it is about seeing growth. Wachington hasn't scored an offensive TD since the third quarter vs. Miami 4 weeks ago. They allowed 434 yards vs. Minnesota. The 9-0 game vs. SF was in Horrific Weather conditions. Very happy with 6-2, just want to see growth & a game more reminiscent of what NE wouyld do against inferior competition (i.e. throw for over 300 and bury them). Because unfortunately I have been a Bills fan since day one. I'd really like to be entertained and see what Alllen can do. 14-20 160 is another McD but that as said is not going to cut it vs. any decent team.
  22. And again a one score game into the fourth. I really wanted to see convincing win & good play calling and again a game only a fan of the Bills could like. One of the worst teams in the NFL on both sides of the ball starting a real green Rookie qb and a game plan as if they were KC (with Mahomes), NE or NO. Yes I'm happy @ 6.2, but this is where the Bills needed to see what Allen could do & <300 offense is actually sad.
  23. Good article too in the Ringer https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2019/10/30/20939534/midseason-nfl-2019-decade-defining-quarterbacks Good Info here too.... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/advanced.htm I find those saying we aren't running the ball enough perplexing when the Bills are near the bottom (bottom half) in passing and almost every game has been close.
  24. Actually I didn't think much of the OP's statement. Frankly show me a top-tier NFL QB in today's NFL who did not reach that milestone pretty quick. Heck Russell Wilson may have taken the longest. Oh and what a loser Mahomes was in this game..... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201811190ram.htm If you can't innately understand the logic & metrics when both pass for 300 yards then there is no helping you, than there is no helping you. Like the poster who claimed that the record this year was 37-35 (ignoring that there was a tie with both throwing for 300 yards). If all 300 yard games ended in ties, then the w-l record for 300 yard passers would be 0-72!!!!!!!!??
