Packers at Bills - 1st Half Game Thread

Ughhhhhh!!!!!! -
Watkins has been very good. How about going to the Houston board and discussing the #1 pick Clowney????
-
Not the point. However there are many offensive pass interference calls that are ignored. I can't even remember them showing a replay. Oh and I forgot when the Denver player ran into the kicker. Was a bad snap but caught cleanly and he got the punt off and was hit. Oh and the Denver player hitting the TE with his helmet with everyone jawing and the refs ignoring it.

Hackett.. Screen Salesman of the year/ K Gun is Dead
Billsfan1972 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As soon as Orton is spooked he throws it away or dumps it. The fourth down was the correct call, but you don't send Chandler on a difficult route, he goes over the middle. Those passes are for WR's. -
Just throw him the damn ball..... Even the announcers were commenting on the formations and routes not conducive to producing targets. Again look at targets and passes for someone like Odell Beckham (15 of 42 passes thrown by Eli yesterday) v. Watkins 12 of 57 (Chandler 11 & Jackson 14). A lot of stats to throw back and forth, but when people complain about trading up and having a star to cheer for, I'll take it.....

QB Index: Ranking the starters 1-32
Billsfan1972 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Russell Wilson has no wide receivers at all and has to improvise almost every play. Incredible to watch. Seattle made a huge mistake letting Golden Tate go. Colin Kaepenrick to me has been atrocious. How do you play the Giants (get 5 ints) and put up only 16 points and follow that up with 17 vs. Washington (who are lousy on defense) at home and 3 vs. Seattle with those receivers? The fact Eli Manning is in the top half also tells you there are just not that many god QB's. The problem with the list is that almost every QB has bad games. The difference is the mediocre one's too put up monster games too. Bills fans have been so deprived for years that a 300 yard game is considered unbelievable. -
The passes to Watkins were horrible. Both Ints were lousy reads and passes. Don't blame Watkins for Orton's errors. Also the Bills ran it plenty and seldom well. People excited by running it into the line for 4 yards are stuck in the 70's. Been a long time since I actually saw a hole created by the O-line (and much of the blame is the formations where the line looks crowded/stacked.

GB is not a great team on the road. Three bad losses all on the road (Detroit, Seattle, NO) & barely beat Minnesota and Miami. However a win vs. Denver helps NE and their quest for homefield through the playoffs so if one game up going into week 17 means NE playing for nothing. What the Bills need is to figure out the offense and score 28+ pts.

Offense almost unwatchable....

Ball @ midfield with a timeout and over one minute on the clock and we ran 4 plays and picked up 10 yards...... No idea what they were doing...... -

That may have been the worst call of the game. Uncatchable and well defended with Watkins wide open over the middle. Then there was the sequence at the end of the first half where faced with fourth & 2 and 25 seconds left they throw a 2 yarder to Watkins to set up a 53 vs. a 55 yard fg!!!! -

As a fan watching them is hard and frustrating. How long does this go on. From the first drive vs. KC to first drive vs. NYJ no TD's. I watch other teams, their sets, motion and receivers and see nothing that is innovative or would confuse other teams. Yesterday was the first time at least some penalties were called against the other team's DB's. We can go back and forth but to try and defend this offense is non-sensical. -

Saw that too. Watching Manning Sunday night is hilarious (and insightful too). He reads the defense at the LOS and makes adjustments, audibles and seems to have a handle. Outside the Gray call, every pass seemed forced. -

Weather was fine yesterday and absolutely no reason to have zero first half points. There was a play in the first half around midfield third down & about five where receivers are running open and he throws an uncatchable ball to a well covered Goodwin. Add to that no real throws to Watkins yet again (except where PI should have been called and the two stupid ints). Is it too much to ask for an average O? -

You mean because we got one play call correct (the 41 yard pass to Gray)? The rest of the drive were runs of 6,3,8,1,1,2,-1 & 3 yards.... Boy we manhandled the line of scrimmage. -

I watch Orton and his reads look like that of a rookie. Too often he dumps it off. Second last play of the half (fourth & 2) he throws a 2 yard pass to Watkins so it is a 53 instead of 55 yard fg attempt. Are you kidding me???? -

There is almost no way with this offense and the way they approach games that the Bills can compete against NE,Denver & GB. I watch the play calling, the offensive sets and decision making and it has been awful. They are not that bad imo, but they have to come out and be more aggressive and innovative. Wen was the last time you saw a catch and run over the middle to a wide receiver. They caught Cleveland yesterday on the Gray third down pass and Fred Jackson barely got 1 yard on their other third down make. Yep great to have a winning record in December (how sad expectations are), but the games are not fun to watch when you are hoping the defense gets the ball back. -
Unless playing the Jets. Unimaginative play calling and sets. Inaccurate passing and run plays. Converted 2 of 15 third downs (many under 4 yards) and what I saw were bad reads by Orton. Zero first half points. Outside two passes to Gray and a great catch by Woods absolutely nothing!!! No chance vs. Denver, GB or NE if have to rely on the Defense. Lets not pretend that having Cleveland at home should have been a tough game for the Offense. Look at some of the winning QB performances this week..... Stafford, Fitz, Rogers, Luck, Sanchez, Peyton, Brees, Ryan. Really all year this Offense has been well below average (21st passing & 24th rushing).

First Post - Reviewing Pass Interference Calls

Well the game was over early in the third, so the refs could put their whistles away. Let's see what happens against a good Cleveland receiving corp. -

Big week!!!!! First PI call against a Bills receiver (dismissed as Robert Woods made a great catch down the sidelines) and a Defensive Holding against that ever dangerous target Clark Gregg on the same drive. Still by far last in the league. -
frustrating usage of sammy watkins
Billsfan1972 replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the KC game forget the targets, as many as I remember were just throwaways. I see the alignments and it is almost always the same with Sammy on the outside and usually on the sidelines. I want to see him in the slot at times and hidden coming over the middle. I want to see him used more like Golden Tate. Interesting how lousy Detroit's offense has looked the last two weeks vs. Arizona & NE and Stafford not looking to Golden Tate (most passes second half vs. NE were uncatchable) and with megatron back. -

Yes a few drops, but targets include many that were thrown away (looking particularly at KC & Miami games) and uncatchable. Look at the # of easy catches and routes many top receivers get.
