Every game Josh has made plenty of audibles or adjustments at the LOS. He has that choice. Remember, the botched play to end the playoffs against the Chiefs was one that Josh changed the protection on and allowed Karlaftis to come free at him. Now, he somehow made a ridiculous throw that should have been caught by Kincaid but the problem is still there. Sometimes it’s the OC, sometimes it’s Josh. Rarely if ever did you see as many breakdowns as we have under Brady as we did under Daboll. Food for thought I guess.

I know some people may not have liked Frazier but there’s a reason he landed an assistant head coach job after that amicable parting of ways after the 13 seconds debacle. Seattle has had a pretty solid defense without a marquee defender outside of Devon Witherspoon these past 2 seasons, something which he has had to have a hand in. Personally, I would have liked them to hang on to him one more season before the dismissal. That’s just me though, probably wrong and in the minority there lol

Dont disagree with you but he did look not terrible against Pittsburgh, Miami and Dallas for the Jets. Cowboys game for sure. But the Pittsburgh game he was competent enough for them to be leading by 2 scores at one point. He is however a prime example of a QB that is only as successful as the running game. Take that away and you stifle the whole offense. So is that solely on Fields for opening up the passing game once it’s out of reach or on Engstrand and the coaching staff?

Was speaking to a guy at the diner yesterday morning during breakfast about our team and he actually mentioned Hoecht. Said he thinks he’ll be a Jerry Huges type player… a lot of pressures but not much sacks. If he’s accurate on that it surely would help but in the broader perspective, yes. I’m with you. Not holding my breath but will hope for positive additions.

Well sure regarding Olave but the talk was that the Saints were trying an extension, not saying that makes him unavailable but the targets have been high (top 5?) and now the production is following suit. Seems like a vital player to keep around for Rattler or the next guy they put at the position. But like you said, the conversations Theyre having may be contingent in what happens.

I am well aware of the design of a play and three of the plays I posted, whether to your unsatisfactory level, were designed for multiple reads. 2 are a level and clear out concept that are built upon getting the ball to the underneath target once it’s cleared out. Josh’s throw to a 50/50 ball where Keon was the target was the wrong throw. The following okay the exact same concept was run that resulted in less time to throw and a completion to Shakir. The run play you are highlighting can be run either way. There is 4 defenders on either side of the box, the motion shifts the defenders over. That’s a 4 on 4. WRs struggled to block the whole first half. You’ve now resulted in 2 lineman, a pulling guard and 2 receivers holding that edge from pressure instead of 3 lineman, a blocking TE and a WR. Either side could have resulted in a gain but if you’re dead set that there isn’t a check built in and they have to have that personnel block what they did, ok.

Einstein. Always has to chastise or inflate his own ego in the manner of belittling people. Run checks are exclusively that. It does work like that. They are built in for you to CHECK the side that better suits defensive alignment. High school football… HIGH SCHOOL. Has 3 and sometimes 4 checks. Every run play has a mirror call, but you knew that already. Every play has a fail safe run pass or RPO to check to. But you knew that already. Everyone is a viable target. Hence the rule of progressions, checks and route combinations. But you know everything. Just like your one post… ”watch the all 22. There’s zero separation” SMH.

Flacco played very well, especially for a guy who just landed there. However, most knew he would succeed somewhat. Throw the ball to Chase and Higgins. Not much else to it. The sad part is these talking heads act like it isn’t the key part of the equation here…

There very may well be disconnect but it isn’t because of those circumstances. Some think Josh was not to blame at all. Those of us who are saying that some blame goes to Josh understand there was lapses in play from the offensive line but there was several plays he made the wrong decision on. Gobills808 asked for the proof and I provided him two drives to end and start the first and second quarters. All I’ve seen is people blame the defense. They actually did a reasonable job in the second half to limit the Falcons from scoring on their first 3 drives; even wiped points off the board via a blocked FG. All I’ve seen is people say the coaches can’t scheme anyone open, the talent can’t separate or get space for Josh to throw. Yet on those drive screenshots, the majority of them, Josh had ample time to throw thanks to the offensive line AND guys were open. There wasn’t a lot of great in that game. The defense was abysmal but actually managed to do something when it’s back was against the wall to give us a decent chunk of the game to get back in it and take the lead. The offensive game plan could have been better when you’re up against a team that runs a lot of blitzes. This team has blemishes on all sides but the QB. We know more often than not Josh is going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat for a win. These last two games? Not really. Josh was forcing a lot of stuff to whom he had already decided. Wasnt a Keon fan but thought he’d turn it around after Baltimore. Looking unlikely. The problem is more that Josh forces the ball consistently to him. Several throws against Atlanta there was actually another option open for an uncontested catch by the time the ball gets there. That’s a problem that isn’t purely a coaching or play design issue. None of those saying he had a bad game is bashing Josh. Completely the opposite. The disconnect problem you highlight is when the majority point out A, B or C was bad it usually results in bashing and now most of the same people implying their own perspective as someone critiquing Josh through the same lens they do the defense, Keon, Sean, Brandon or whatever it is for that week. Most of those alluding to Josh having a bad game are ironically the ones who usually don’t tar and feather the team or its players for their blips, blunders or defects.

thanks, I’ve noticed that these last 3 weeks his involved has increased dramatically. Thought maybe it’s Chase then Higgins and he’s fighting for scraps. Seems that there some serious talent potential there.

He is? Weird. He’s listed on every single site as WR. Including the Bengals very own website and depth chart… Their tight ends are Sample/Gesicki/Fant/Hudson/Grandy. Oh well, I’ll take your word for it.

This #80, Iosivas for the Bengals seems like an interesting player. Is he just stuck behind Higgins?

It’s frustrating because we know what we have at the QB position. A once in a generation QB. Expecting him to put on the cape every game is wrong and delusional but even just borderline decent games from Josh would have won these last 2 games if not 3 comfortably. @TheBrownBear said it perfectly. The team doesn’t play well on either side of the ball at the same time. Defense is clearly an issue but can show up. Offense is clearly our life support but sometimes doesn’t show up. Not to repeat but for as bad as the defense is and has been the last few games, they’ve done enough, barely, to keep us in games. Offense and Josh hasn’t executed hence the hole we are in.

Hey man, I’m on record acknowledging this team goes as far as Josh takes us. He’s an absolute stud. I see all sides of the pine.. the defense being a serious issue the coaching staff not being up to par lack of talent at the WR position I don’t disagree with anything there. Not for a second. There was so many plays left on the field that were a combination of the coaching staff AND Josh. @JakeFrommStateFarm highlighted about Bijan’s 171 yards and a TD on the ground. Out of that total he put up 138 and the TD in the first half. Defense/STs did enough to get us back in the game. 3 stopped drives after the boys made it 14-21. One of those drives they took 3 off the scoreboard with a blocked FG. Josh’s failed 4th down pass to Ty Johnson and the botched snap on 3rd down were back breakers. Either of them go the opposite way it probably turns out a different game. Lots of blame to go around and as much as people want to pile it on the defense, it was a collective effort by the team top to bottom; including the MVP.

First half was atrocious. Absolutely disgusting to watch but we knew Bijan is no joke and they were going to feed him. Second half, the last scoring Falcons drive aside, the defense didn’t do bad in comparison to the first. That last scoring drive for Atlanta was defined by one play; the pass to Bijan on busted coverage for 25 yards. After that it was pretty much a wrap in terms of time we would have had left. Even then, do they stop the 3rd down conversion if the pass went incomplete? Who knows. The Shaw Thompson potential pick 6 absolutely nailed the coffin shut. The offense, like so many other games, didn’t put up points when the defense finally started making stops. The failed 4th down flip to Ty Johnson to end the 3rd quarter… FG is blocked by Rousseau on the drive immediately after. Literally 3 plays and a punt. Not good enough. Ty Johnson and Cook for 9 yards on two downs only to do some BS trickery that resulted in a fumble. Game is in the potential balance. Big boy pants need to go on and bully them for the yard with Josh or cook.
