Around the NFL Week 11 - Who to Root For
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Total BS that Ravens face Green Bay without Rodgers. Hundley is a joke. 9/16 115yards 2 INTS and 2 sacks for 25 yards. What a waste with how terrible the Ravens offense is. Green Bay has been a terribly mismanaged organization for years now. Outside of of Rodgers they have nobody. The only organization that wastes QB talent more than the Packers is the Colts. I don't see a Belicheck coached team putting up those kind of numbers with their back QB. -
Negative: 18-35 180 yards 0 TDs 1 INT 1 Fumble Positive: 22-35 260 yards 1TD 1 INT 0 Fumbles Uber Positive: 28-40 320 yards 2 TDs 0 INT 0 Fumbles I'd be concerned about strip sacks in the pocket as well. Taylor did a good job of not only limiting picks but also limiting fumbles. Some rookie QBs tend to fumble a lot more on average.

This is why Tyrod was benched
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to essential's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty well summed up and what we all know. We can get by and manage when Taylor is still making enough plays to win games like in the Denver game. But when he is missing reads and not making plays like in the last two games the team has no chance. And over the last season and a half he has had too many games like the last two. -
The LA Rams 2017 Turnaround
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is pretty much spot on. Now it looks like both sides of the ball suck though. -
The defense hasn't shown up since the Raiders game three weeks ago. Not showing up this week wouldn't be because they are not getting behind the rookie. It would just be the status quo of this defense. The offense has had many terrible games this year. Especially on the road. Again, it would be status quo, not because they are "not behind the rookie". I was expecting the move a week later, but honestly, I saw this as a game where Taylor would get taken down at least five times if not more by Bosa and company. I don't think our offense suffers any with the QB change.
-
It depends on game flow too. If the D is getting lit up again, they probably stick with Peterman in the second half even if he has multiple turnovers in the first half and isn't moving the ball. But if it is a close seven point game because the defense is doing it's part but Peterman looks like a deer in headlights with multiple turnovers, then I could see the switch back.
-
This is what I was looking ahead to as well. With Taylor at QB I assumed the Chargers would bring him down 5 times at least. Think the Jets game two weeks ago. With Peterman, not sure, but there's a chance he only takes one or two sacks. With Taylor it's almost guaranteed Bosa and company get to him a half dozen times.

Haven't thought of it that way. EJ Manuel is probably the best black comparison to Bortles. Bortles is probably a notch above EJ in talent level, but still not immune to heavy criticism. Bortles has certainly received far more opportunity than EJ ever did. But again, Bortles is a little better than EJ I think, still a bad QB though.

I agree OP. His excellence will either smack us in the face immediately like when Dak or Watson came in, or we really won't know with such a small sample size. If he can play well enough as at least a positive contributor for the most part and lead us to the playoffs (4-3 finish or better) I think he could possibly go in to next year as the number one without us drafting a QB with a first round pick.

Every Nate Peterman throw from the Saints game

LOL. And the poster "thinks" he was drafted by the Chargers but never got a chance to start for them. -
Every Nate Peterman throw from the Saints game
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we lose another close game in LA where Taylor fails to move the offense consistently again for the third straight week. We make the switch to Peterman and shock the world at Arrowhead. The rest is history. -
OP is right though. Forget 'mathematically' alive. Even after these two embarrassing losses we are still in the 6th seed. Even if Miami wins tomorrow, which seems unlikely, I believe we would still be in the 6th seed too with a better conference record. It all just underscores how bad the AFC is this year from #6 on down. All that said, I don't see how we beat the Chargers either.

Anyone watch tyrods post game?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why wouldn't he be frustrated though? Any QB should be frustrated playing like that. As far the comments he made, I don't see an issue with them. -
Every Dareus hater, APOLOGIZE
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if Dareus were here how is the offense going to score enough to win the last two games? 3 points today before garbage time. 7 points against the Jets before garbage time. Even if Dareus would have made a positive impact on defense, no way it would have been enough to get us close to a win in these last two games. -
Any of those guys but Allen and I'd be happy. If Darnold does come out that would make it four legit prospects and I'd love to have either one of them.

For the sanity of us all, we need this one bad.

USA Today: Contenders and Pretenders
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, our best win on the year is probably vs. Oakland actually. They are still a decent team. If Carr doesn't go down with an injury they possibly win both those games they lost to the Ravens and Broncos. I agree that we are pretenders for now. A win this week or vs. the Chargers could change my mind. But the good news is, when it comes to the sixth wild card spot and possibly even the 5th depending on how Jacksonville and Tennessee play from here on out, who is a contender for those spots? Someone is going to have to get it. Would just be nice if we actually went 11-5 rather than stumble backwards into a wild card at 9-7. -
Ravens are the biggest rival for wild card imo
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to JinxedBill1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too early to say must win. But it would go a long way in helping us out. For the Chargers, I do see them beating Jacksonville this week. And if they beat us the following week that gets them back to .500 and winners of five of their last six games. They have a tough slate still with @ Dallas, Vs. Reskins @Cheifs @ Jets and Vs. Raiders but they would only need to go 2-3 in those games to get to 9-7 and hold a head to head tiebreaker over us. Now if they lose this week to Jacksonville, the Chargers season is pretty much over. -

This is how I see it too. Oakland has the talent on offense to make a run. If Carr doesn't miss a game and half they possibly win both those games he missed. The Dolphins are not great but they are also currently 4-4 while all the other teams behind us are 4-5 or worse. Chargers are a pretty well rounded team I think. Decent defense and a good enough offense. I would put my money on one of those three teams competing for the final wild card. -

I don't disagree that they could be in the mix, but honestly 10-6 for them is a pipe dream. They are not a good enough team to finish the season 6-1 which is what they would have to do to finish 10-6. Finishing 5-2 would be difficult enough for them. Pretty much all teams behind us have to finish 5-2 just to get to 9-7. And they have to finish 6-1 to get to 10-6. There are four or five teams behind us, odds are one will go on a run like that, but two or more teams going on a 5-2 or 6-1 run is not likely. -
Bills Chargers Most Important of next 4 games
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Chargers game has had loss written all over it for weeks now IMO. That was well before the Jets debacle on the road. I feel much better going against the Saints this week.
