Has anyone noticed if the Cigarette Man is near Heinz Field?

The home field is going to tip this in the Steelers' favor - there will be at least 2 bad calls that go against the Bills at critical times. Still it will be a tight game decided by a touchdown or less. The only other possible scenario I can envision is somehow old Mr. Duck implodes and the Bills get 2 or 3 takeaways in the 1st half and the game gets out of hand and the Bills romp. Low probability but i definitely don't see the Steelers rolling the Bills in this one. i hope I am just one of those Bill's fans with Buffalo PTSD from watching our sports teams always grasp defeat from the jaws of victory in the must unusual ways. I wish I hadn't given up drinking until the xmas holiday!

The following is a really pessimistic outlook but given the Bills' history I don't think we can say its totally impossible. I think even if the Bills lose to the steelers and pats they probably still beat the jets. So my question as a life long disappointed Bills' fan is can the Bills still make the playoffs if they lose the next 3? Just curious as I think that happening has to be less than my chances of winning Mega Millions.

I'm in Pats territory and dislike them and a number of their more idiotic fans but an overly severe punishment may set a terrible precedent for other teams who inadvertently stumble doing something stupid and then are required to have the same punishment meted out. I would prefer that they simply remove the Pat's ability to get any compensatory picks for about 3-5 years. The rationale is then no one can say they were totally stripped of the ability to field a competitive team. Its one of those areas where they play the game better than any other team so take that advantage away as teaching lesson. Of course that has some drawbacks if you have teams with almost no comp picks (aka the Bills); there is then no disincentive. The one piece I don't get is if every team knows the Pat's are doing this why do they have no or very weak counter measures. Surely there must be a Cersei Lannister lurking in every teams front office.

I was discussing with my spousal unit and she quipped its ironic they are called the "Patriots." I am more concerned that this behavior is more a reflection of our current societal thinking where the end justifies the means..lies don't matter as long as they help you get to the result you want.

well the one other bad thing about the blown calls in the Pats game is the officiating for the next game against the Bills is going to suck..guess which team is going to get the short end of the stick? I'll be curious to see if Hughes finishes the game with 25% of a jersey and no holding calls against the Pats

well you can remind them that Buffalo is considered a Climate Change Haven City (https://stepoutbuffalo.com/buffalo-best-city-escape-climate-change/) as the huge weather swings will be minimal in Buffalo compared to everywhere else over the next several decades. One reason I love living in Maine is the weather is great (ok it does get cold and snow but only wimpy people can't handle a little precip and temp drop) and we have tons of fresh water. Unfortunately the warmer ocean temp is wiping out the lobster population and breeding areas are now moving further north. Good thing I don't like lobster. In summary - screw them! I loved growing up in WNY, especially the late summer and fall.

I get both here in Maine so its basically using the back button through-out the day. Glad my wife does not watch as she hates it when I use the remote that way. I guess eventually one game will get out of hand so its down to the one competitive game and then whatever hockey game is on thus terrorizing my spousal unit even further

beat the ravens or pats and that 2nd tier smutz goes away lose to the squealers and/or the jets with losses to Pats and Ravens and of course they belong in the 2nd tier I do agree with your sentiment that the Bills seem to have to do so much more than any other team to get a higher ranking but in the end it will sort itself out when the Bills win the Superbowl this year (something I never though I would even contemplate at all year but I love to dream).

yes its seems like over the last 20 years the two things that would always happen to the Bills is when the game was on the line they would 1) totally flub a third and long or 2) give up a third and long (even > 25yds) to allow the other team to score the winning TD or FG. Hope this change is permanent

I was originally pessimistic about the Bills and thought they would end up with 7-9 wins and just miss the playoffs if they got to 9. Well I now have to say I am wrong about Allen in that I thought he really couldn't see the field well but that Dallas game changed my perception totally. So I think the Bills will go 3-1 in the last four and lose to either the Pats or Ravens but not both. I think the Pats is more likely a loss given the game is at Gillette. We shall see as I still have this vestigial feeling something "Billsy" can still happen to ruin their run to the playoffs. I know its irrational but its still there.

Not an organized or even disorganized conspiracy. I agree with those who feel its an internal/unconscious bias that some officials have for teams with either winning records, at home, or have large followings (i.e Cowgirls as an example)..the corollary to that is also a bit true in that "downtrodden" teams like the Bills are probably considered fodder by some of the officials. No matter what The Pats definitely get more breaks than normal and whats stupid about that is they really don't need those breaks with the coach and QB they have.

2 wins 3 losses, I think the Bills pick off the Pats or Ravens but lose to the Cowboys and one of the Steelers or Jets (more likely the Steelers setting up a must win game at the Ralph). My alternative, but low probability (< 20%), scenario is they beat the Cowboys in Dallas and then run the table after that game for a 13-3 finish. They then win the first playoff game but lose to the Pats causing domestic abuse and cirrhosis of the liver to skyrocket in WNY.

i totally agree with this sentiment...I do believe I am closer to tri-polar as I have these giggly moments, mostly during drug ad commercials, where i try to see if I can name all the risks associated with the proffered drug..of course it may be more due to my own garden stuff that gets used, especially on game day

Its all about the D..in the three games the Bills lost they faced some pretty good defenses who closed down the Bills' offense (of course the Bills did some interesting things such as blocked punt for a TD, fumbles at critical times in the games, etc..). Denver has a really good D and if the Bills O is to show they really can beat a team with a good D this is the opportunity. Their QB is better than I thought he would be but it all comes down to Denver's D and the whether the Bills' O can control the ball, move down the field and score or simply implode at every inopportune moment.. Close one but Bills prevail 20-17
