Training Camp Darling Kumerow---did he even show up yesterday?
TPS replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was more sarcasm for the OP then a suggestion. In fact, saying it should be in that thread was the kindest thing I could say....😁 -

Sweeney looked very good in his rookie campaign too. He simply needs to stay healthy. -

Mods, shouldn't this be in the "Overreaction Saturday" thread? -

Tasker & Brown don't know the cap rules
TPS replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too, and I"m sure most didn't. I would guess it's so teams don't try to game the cap by creating long-term contracts to spread the bonus, when there would be little probability that a player would actually play the entirety of the contract. -

That is the point made by the OP, the rules state you can only spread it over a max of 5 years. -

There’s a nice article about him in TheAthletic today -
I think an improved pass rush will make Levi look a lot better...

In a way, Kumerow reminds me of Chris Hogan: a small-school WR with a lot of talent who took a few years to learn the ropes in the NFL before taking off. As for getting released, the Bills tried to sneak him back on the PS when Smoke came back from injury, but New Orleans nabbed him. Barring injury, Kumerow will make the 53 and be active on game days since he will be a key STs player too.

Training Camp practice and Media Sessions 8/5

I seem to recall reading a quote from McKenzie who said that Roberts taught him to be more aggressive on KO returns, "just take it and go!" -
Why can't McKenzie handle both?
-
Given his value on STs, I think that he's the odds-on favorite as the 6th WR (McKenzie is the 5th). Hodgins would benefit from a year on the PS.

Nice piece in TheAthletic on Kumerow's journey: https://theathletic.com/2748457/2021/08/03/wr-jake-kumerows-journey-from-aaron-rodgers-secret-weapon-to-the-do-it-all-riser-of-bills-camp/ My favorite quote:

I think the early buzz was about Hodgins, so Kumerow was overlooked or forgotten to some extent, despite the fact that Hodgins hasn't played an NFL game. One of the two will make the 53, and Kumerow is the odds on favorite because of his experience and ST ability. I don't think it will be all that difficult to get Hodgins on the PS since he's a 7th round draft pick that hasn't played an NFL game, and he needs that experience. I think the WRs will be Diggs, Sanders, Beasley, Davis, McKenzie, and Kumerow, with Hodgins and Stevenson on the PS.

Don’t forget josh’s puppy...

That's why they will make the playoffs, he will get them there.

Yeah, I think they will easily win the NFC East.

Dion Dawkins is latest to rave about Bills DE A.J. Epenesa

Must have been due to the article on Whaley burning EJ into my mind...Hah! -

Looking forward to seeing how the young guns pan out. While there isn’t a Garrett or Young, the whole will be better than the sum of its parts. A pass rush going forward of Groot, Ed, Boogie, and AJ will be tough to stop. -
Bills could clear a lot more salary cap space beginning Tuesday
TPS replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree it makes no financial sense, but they have shown they will part ways with anyone who is not buying into the process. That's the point I was trying to make--if he is in the doghouse with McBeane, then I think they'd certainly part ways, and now it's no longer a negative cap hit. -

I guess we'll find out how they feel about Star too? While releasing him doesn't save much money ($500K), it's no longer a negative value.
