  1. It was Schwartz's scheme, just as Pettine ran his scheme. The biggest difference from Marrone's first and second years was the ppg on D, dropping 6 ppg to 18. The O, despite going to Orton, had the same average ppg in both Marrone's seasons. Did Mario not try or play well under Pettine?
  2. That was funny!
  3. That's terrible! Terribly funny! Though I do feel bad for them on a personal level given what's gone on in their lives this year.
  4. Not necessarily. Rex ran a mix of schemes. You can have a similar 4-3 alignment that Schwartz had with Lawson, Dareus, KW (or Washington), and Hughes. LBs of PBrown, Ragland, and ZBrown.
  5. Schwartz got them there. Marrone gets credit for hiring him.
  6. Yes, bring back Schwartz. We agree.
  7. Yes, it's as simple as your last two sentences.
  8. Maroon's success here was based on Schwartz turning the D into an elite group.
  9. there is some regression, but it's not uncommon to see that with very good QBs. The two I referenced are Brees and roethlisberger. You're making an assumption that not improving in his second season as a starter means he will not get better and is not worth keeping, that we'd be better off with a"game manager." The majority here disagree. Fortunately the bills, and not you, will evaluate his work to determine if he has a higher ceiling and is the best option going forward for now.I suppose you will hide behind "but this isn't related to my question."
  10. it's not the government where there's a line of succession either. Someone gets named interim HC by the gm and/or owners.
  11. but it was Gilmore, and he doesn't tackle anyone
  12. yeezus! Give the kid a full season or two before you make that kind of idiotic comparison.
  13. its always instructive to read old arguments... http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/183322-schwartz-vs-ryan/?hl=stats
  14. major booby, your big shtick seems to be based on your argument that Taylor has regressed. Let's ignore the fact that the bills had serious injuries at WR. Now, here's one example of several I can provide. QB1 we'll call him, had a rating of 77 his first year with 17 TDs and 16 Ints, then his second year he had a 67.5 rating and 11 TDs with 15 ints. Based on how you analyze qbs, would you recommend dropping this qb and bringing in a game manager like hoyer?Major booby, here's another example. QB2 we'll call him. Year 2, he had a 99 rating with 17 TDs and 9 ints. In year 3 he "regressed." His rating was 75 and he had 18 TDs with 23 INTs. Would you get rid of him. And bring a game manager like Hoyer?
  15. things seemed to open up for clay when Watkins became a factor again.
  16. I like your earlier idea of trading CK. He's shown enough on tape that he is a very capable LT, and just now emerging at 23. Swap him for a starting RT and mid-round pick?
  17. when you score 24 or more points in 7 games and lose them all, and with a depleted WR corps, offense is no the problem.
  18. so true. Gilmore and Darby will make a very solid tandem with a new (good) DC.
  19. Agree with the OP. It would be great to see Taylor and Watkins play a full season next year. This team averaged 27 ppg with Lynn as OC, despite several games with WRs pulled off the street, and only one viable threat at TE.
  20. The defense is what kept the bills from making the playoffs the past two years, but I digress. Keep Taylor and this offense together. Next season will be his third as a starter, and he's yet to have a full season with Watkins. Despite that, the offense is top 10 and moving up. Taylor is a good option for the next 2-3 years while they try to find the guy. Re-sign woods, gillislee, gragg, Felton, and find someone to play RT until Henderson comes back. Draft another WR and TE at some point. Focus on fixing the D which is the real problem.
  21. they'll still have Henderson, though his suspension will carry through the first 5 games I believe.
  22. When it was 3rd and 3 with 4 minutes left, the mentality should've been two downs to get 3 yards. Instead, he decided to put it into the hands of the defensive genius, himself...
  23. He's a solid corner and I'd keep him for the right price. I don't think they are far off, and losing him would create a big hole that would most likely be filled by a high draft pick.
  24. I assume you mean in the past two years.
