  1. Somewhat related to what you're saying here, I heard Sal say something the other day about how the GM and his staff talk to the coaches and find out what type of players they're looking for. This was in relation to a caller asking what happened to Cryil Richardson, and Sal said he was the type of player that Moron wanted, a big road grader to blow the other guys off the ball, but he didn't fit the pulling guard type that Kromer/Roman system uses. Most people will simply look at it as Whaley wasted that pick.
  2. To refresh your memory....Here's the link
  3. Ugly, then, is in the eye of the beholder...
  4. I guess some people fail to see that saying they won ugly ican be a positive statement as my post was meant to be. Too many times in the past the would not win that type of game against the Rams, but they did because good teams win those types of games. In the Pats game, it seemed as the teams reversed their roles, and the bounces went the Bills' way. Maybe, just maybe, the tide has turned in their favor. Let's hope it continues and the 5-2 Bills bring it to the Pats again to take first in the division. Let's hope.
  5. which is what I said in my post. I guess I better stop following the Yeezus rule of titles...
  6. as someone else pointed out, TT rarely turns the ball over, which was the difference in this game. Without a Brady, it may be more valuable to have a guy who won't lose games (TT) vs one who does (Fitz e.g.).
  7. the Bills had 80 yards of offense in the second half. Their only offensive points came after the Rams' fake punt, a 25 yard scoring drive. The offense struggled in the second half. I'm not sure what is so controversial about saying "the Bills won an ugly game, and good teams do that"?
  8. Yes, last year I suggested before the season started that Rex's D would not do as well as they did under Schwartz because the personnel was more suited to the latter's scheme. It turns out I was right. This year I stated that I thought they'd be much better, and they are. They do seem to be a little schizophrenic though--good game, mediocre game. Btw, guess which team is even better in points allowed?
  9. This perfectly sums up the game and my point. The offense was basically shut down in the second half, but the Bills found a way to win. Teams like the Bills need these kinds of wins if they are going to make the playoffs.
  10. it set up my point. It's a game they usually lost in the past, but they won it. As I said, good teams win ugly games.
  11. Cool. Go Bills.
  12. It's not a complaint. Do people only read the title of the post and not the post itself?
  13. Exactly my point.
  14. I guess you misunderstand my point. Read the second line. They won an ugly game, and good teams do that. The old Bills would've lost that game.
  15. Yes, Shady ran like Hell, but Without that pick 6, it's a different game. Still, one of the worst offenses in the NFL moved the ball too easily against this D. Can't wait until Dareus is back and healthy, and I"m really interested to see what Shaq can do.
  16. But they did, and good teams win ugly games. Keep it rolling Bills!
  17. Why didn't they go to woods who had the new CB on him?
  18. It would be fixed if you added him and not crossed out Barro.
  19. Anyone who posts something from Robert Barro and thinks his ideas apply to the real world will be sadly disappointed. This is a guy who went into economics because he couldn't cut it in physics. His models are designed to give the outcome that fits his politics. For example, his view on fiscal policy is based on what's known as Ricardian Equivalence, which assumes that consumers will offset any fiscal stimulus by decreasing their spending and increase their saving to prepare to pay future higher taxes. Fiscal policy has no impact according to Barro because the government's spending is offset by an equal reduction in consumer spending. My working class students laugh when I tell them about this concept. Barro is the epitome of an "ivory tower" economist. I doubt that he ever worked a day in the real world....
  20. Whaley doesn't get much credit for assembling an excellent staff. Once hired, he immediately brought in Monos and Fisher. I agree with the sentiment that draft picks matter because he and his staff have made solid picks in all rounds; however, he and his staff make up for trading picks by finding FA talent that one might normally develop from picks in the later rounds. Rather than waiting 2-3 years for picks to develop, the alternative strategy is to find players who have had some time on practice squads or vets who provide a role. While one can find examples to criticize Whaley, taken as a whole, he AND his staff have put together the most talented Bills roster we've had in a long, long time.
  21. Yes, it's Pegula's fault that Ralph died when the NFL franchise value was at a peak....
  22. Evenly matched, which is why TOs will most likely make the difference.
  23. Yes, the D did what it was supposed to do, and Brown played like a pro bowler, but I doubt anyone would've predicted that first stat--the only Bills punt in first half coming in final 2-minutes.
