  1. He was also critical of Tyrod and his inability to throw in the middle of the field. He gave praise but pointed out a weakness that he thought could be corrected by working with him in the offseason.
  2. That was very insightful on Lynn. I'm almost sold. I hope people see this piece. Of course, there is one problem with it--that !@#$ing!! super bowl ball on his mantel!
  3. A lot of emotions at the moment. Give it a month or two...
  4. Agreed. Some things that need to happen in this scenario: 1. Re-sign Gilmore (despite what many think, the combination of Gilmore/Darby/Robey is very solid for the 4-3) 2. Re-sign Woods and Gillislee. 3. Re-sign ZBrown, or an alternative for WLB. They will need a safety or two. Other than that, it will be about providing depth from either FAs or the draft. I'm not sure about STs? Fortunately, Lynn started his coaching career in STs. In relation to Taylor's weakness of not throwing in middle, I think Lynn said something in his presser or on the JM show to the effect of "I would be really interested in (or look forward to) working with TT over a full off-season."
  5. As someone stated elsewhere, Whaley isn't going to do something that guarantees he stays for a couple more years but ends in failure. Yes, he wants someone he can work with, but he wants someone who shares his philosophy on building a team. Lynn's run-oriented offense, even though the design is not his, fits Whaley's views. As stated, Lynn won't let the players jag off either. Pegulas should let him control things and give him his 2-3 year window. I for one think this combo will succeed, but no one can say for certain at this point.
  6. You've taken probably the right approach: let Whaley own it, and give him 2-3 years to do it. I disagree with your assumption about Lynn. I think Whaley sees the qualities he's looking for and he's known. It's quite possible the combination--Whaley/Lynn--is the right combination for the job because their philosophies mesh. The results will determine whether it was right or not.
  7. This is the best situation at the moment. Let people B word and moan, but Whaley needs to hire who he wants, then give him (whaley) a 2-3 year window. Everyone else in the organization needs to stay out of the way. Did we read the same article? It stated "9-7 was a real possibility of getting in."
  8. i agree, but how many HC candidates will want to come in and retain the previous system? Kind of what Rex supposedly did in his first year. if you believe in a particular offense, then you'd want your own oc. If retaining this O is part of the bargain, then HC options will be limited.
  9. creates a sticky situation. Who would come in as HC and be ok with retaining Lynn as OC? No one would want it forced on them for sure.
  10. makes the most sense. Right now the foundation for the O is strong. They are guaranteed 2 solid years of Shady, Watkins, and Clay. The O-line is solid too. Re-sign Woods and gillislee, then fill in depth via FA and draft.Gilmore is the big decision on D. Not signing creates another hole, along with safety. D coordinator will make a difference on Gilmore 's decision as well.
  11. i don't think anyone is claiming he's that. People gave up on Rex because of what happened to the D. Rex took over, and it got much worse. In philly, under Schwartz there's been a significant improvement over last year. Everyone is frustrated, and looking for blame, and it's easy to find blame in anyone you want to scapegoat, though it's much easier to scapegoat Rex based on the data.
  12. so it's your bias against Whaley that makes you try to downplay Schwartz 's D?
  13. How is that an evaluation of Schwartz? It would be better to compare how Philly's D has changed from last year.
  14. i thought it was a question about dishwashers and was going to refer him to the "consumer digest" board...
  15. I'm sure he will be his straight-forward no-nonsense self. I like what I've seen of his pressers.
  16. Hard to disagree, but I know many will...
  17. yep, no mention whatsoever that the D-Rex inherited a top 5 D and proceeded to destroy it.
  18. Woods is the perfect #2 for this offense, a reliable possession receiver and very good run blocker. However, it's clear they need someone behind Sammy if he goes down again. They should re-sign Woods and Gilmore, then pick up a WR with one of the first three picks. All assuming they have a starting QB for next year...
  19. I heard it live as well and thought he sounded frustrated in his response, not really yelling. I'm sure it can be frustrating at times as fans always are looking for heads to roll when things go wrong.
  20. Thanks. Interesting, in Marrone's two years, the team did not average more than 20 ppg.
  21. is there a link which shows this measure for all teams? I'd like to see the revised list.
  22. Another positive about Lynn, he started his coaching career with special teams.
  23. They will definitely purge the team of Rex's HUD coaching program....He hired everyone but his brother...oh, wait...
  24. Not really. An interim HC is also being show-cased, and he won't let them lay an egg.
  25. Well reasoned. The people upset were biased in a particular way, and it's very easy to spin the moves toward one's bias.
