  1. Mr 7-9 (and his brother) already left town...
  2. My statement that HIllary is indeed a neocon has nothing to do with your statement. Re Bolton, it falls in line with what DR and I stated earlier in the thread, that Trump seems to be acquiescing to the neocons.
  3. The PNAC document which was the neocon blueprint named the countries to be targeted for regime change: Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Iran among others. Hillary's foreign policy was certainly aligned with the neocons, and they supported her in the election. The fact that it doesn't matter which of the two parties was in control and the policies continued is telling. There's good reason for why people should be skeptical of relying on the MSM in the US. While the link I'm providing dates to the late 1970s, it would be naive to think the influence has waned. CIA and the Media
  4. The Soviets invaded and forcibly took control of most of those countries. I'm not saying they "granted" independence. GG asked how many neighboring countries they invaded, and I made the facetious statement. The Soviets weren't coerced into breaking up the union, and they signed an agreement creating an "independent commonwealth." The issue now seems to be which country is the evil empire? Some argue Russia is the aggressor and others see the US and NATO as the aggressors. The neocons wanted the US to use its uni-polar power to shape the world in its image. The US has had a hand in pushing the Ukraine, Georgia, and many other former east bloc countries into the west's fold. I'm sure Russia sees US as the threat. I'm not a Putin apologist, but I'm also don't turn a blind eye to our own policies which of course are guided by freedom and democracy.... Regardless, it plays right into the hand of what some of us see as the behind the scenes control in this country, what some call the Deep State. Nothing like a good threat to boost the defense budget. However, that can't happen in an era of rising social spending, so there is also a need to attack SS and Medicare. These are more important issues than debating semantics, though I started it.
  5. Sure it is. There certainly was no bloody battle for independence. Most became part of the "independent commonwealth" that Russia signed, and Russian troops withdrawn soon after. Would you say they were "independent" prior to 1989?
  6. Your list:. "Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Afghanistan, Georgia, Ukraine are all within the last 50 years." The break up of the USSR (and withdrawal of Russian troops).
  7. sure, tell me about the invasions of Hungary and Poland.
  8. Didn't you say the last 50 years?
  9. Communism is dead. Get over it. Btw, They have given more countries back their independence than invaded over the past 50.
  10. My "trade Glenn" idea wasn't this bad.
  11. like Kennedy reaching out to khrushev? Nixon and detente? Carter and salt? How many US bases surround Russia vs Russia's threats to the US? Yes, they're an evil empire. Nice people though.
  12. Signs seem to point to the "old guard" winning with Trump vilifying Iran, suggesting Russia "give back" Crimea to Ukraine, and sucking up to Netanyahu (being very wishy-washy on Israel stealing more Palestinian land...errr... etablishing new settlements...).
  13. The cartels are kind of like Wall Street banks, they siphon away the best talent because that's where the money is...
  14. Kucinich surely isn't some wacko conspiracist either. There's some deep **** going on, and whatever one thinks of trump, his election is helping expose the existent of a DS.
  15. Mad? No. Risky and Ballsy? Yes. If they assess that CK can fill Glenn's shoes, why not? They'll probably lose CK to FA after next season. He's started 5-6 games at LT, so I'm sure they know what he can do. It would be a waste to move Glenn to RT with his salary. Trading Glenn and signing Wagner actually improves the OL overall (solidifying RT), creates cap space, adds either a R1 or R2 + a pick, in a year when the Bills have multiple needs. The main downside is having the swing back up--I think Henderson can be that, but he will also be out 5 games to start the season.
  16. Spotrac had him at about $8 million/year. Given the Bills have 2 (good) left tackles, I've been wondering if it would be worth exploring a trade of Glenn to some needy LT teams? NFL.com's draft needs analysts suggest Denver and Seattle have needs at LT (Jags, Chargers, and Panthers also need a LT but I'm sure they'd only trade a R2 pick). Trade Glenn (and his salary) for a R1 pick, move CK to LT and pay Wagner. Risky and ballsy move. Would provide $6 million in cap space and 2 R1 picks. I think they'd only do it if they were confident that Henderson could fill the swing backup role, despite his remaining suspension....
  17. Prefer a "job guarantee" over BIG. Something for nothing versus doing something productive to receive an minimum income.
  18. It's not formally tied to the USD any longer, rather they manage it relative to a basket of currencies, heavily weighted by the $ of course. The yuan is the logical choice to become the next reserve currency, and IF the Chinese want that, it will be a gradual process. It surely won't happen until capital controls are eliminated and they open up their financial system. One step forward is the creation of the Asian Development Bank. The yuan was also recently given reserve status by the IMF. Regarding "breaking the pound," that was done by US as an "incentive" to get England (and France) to cede back the Suez canal in 1956.
  19. i wouldn't mind Thomas at all.
  20. The economy wavers on Trump's tiny fingers.... Don't underestimate the influence of Bannon. He will be the driving force on their economic agenda. The main issue they face is that the rank and file republicans will try to push through their long-standing agenda which in many cases will punish Trump's main constituents.
  21. If he decides to stay, I sure hope someone teaches him how to properly tackle to lesson the chance of injury.
  22. Agree with most of this, however Groy is an RFA, and I am sure they will tender him. I think Henderson is much better than Mills and has a higher ceiling for sure.
  23. Yes, it would be the Brown Brothers in nickel formation, unless they also draft Foster at 10, and PBrown would be the odd man out.
  24. Belichick needs to show that he can win one without brady.
