  1. different pieces on how Trump (and US) is being prodded into Syrian regime change. http://www.defenddemocracy.press/mcmaster-manipulating-reports/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/syria-chemical-attack-al-qaeda-played-donald-trump_us_58ea226fe4b058f0a02fca4d https://consortiumnews.com/2017/04/10/neocons-have-trump-on-his-knees/
  2. There are 6-7 guys that I would want at 10, otherwise I hope they trade back. I'm not enamored with taking either WR at 10. I am a Howard fan, and he's in my 6-7, but I don't think he'll make it to 10.
  3. The Bills need to stock up on picks, not lose them.
  4. McDermott can't hold a candle to Rex. Rex always won the offseason. If McDermott can't win the offseason, then how's he going to win during the season? We're doomed.
  5. I believe McDermott is 1-0 vs the Pats as a D coordinator, so he obviously has Brady and Belichick's numbers...
  6. Great piece. However, I found the most interesting Bills-related part was Kyle Shanahan. McDermott went up against him the past two years, and it obviously left an impression. The relevant part: "Shanahan’s Falcons offense was the best in football last year. Privately, some coaches even said it was the best they’d ever seen. Its brilliance was in the way it used running backs, fullbacks and tight ends. Shanahan would align those players anywhere on the field, giving the Falcons an unlimited supply of formations. Often, those unconventional formations would compel the defense to reveal whether it was in man or zone coverage. Knowing this would be the case, Shanahan would design for routes on one side of the formation to beat man coverage and routes on the other side to beat zone." So, what does McDermott do? First, he finds an OC from a similar coaching tree going back to Kyle's father. In FA, he goes after FBs who are good pass catchers, as well as adding another pass-catching RB. They also wanted to add another pass-catching TE, but couldn't land one. The run on FBs makes sense now. My read: this makes OJ Howard a prime candidate at 10. Imagine a 2-TE set (Clay and Howard) with shady and Dimarco in the backfield, and Watkins the only WR. This gives you the ability to have a power running set, then morph at will into 3-wide with Watkins, OJ, and either Shady (or DImarco). This type of O makes WR less of a need, so I think a TE will be taken with one of the first 2 picks, with OJ the one they want.
  7. when Sully says it's so, then I'll believe it...
  8. I'd be willing to bet that 2 of the first 3 will be defense.
  9. This from an espn piece: "Crichton was never able to show a thorough enough command of the Vikings' defense to earn regular playing time, however, and after he started only one game in his first two NFL seasons, he was placed on injured reserve before the 2016 season." A bit Surprising. Hopefully McD's defense is straightforward for the front 4.
  10. They really liked him. What happened?
  11. other than the Raiders, who is left?
  12. Grew up in SoCal a Rams fan. Moved to Buffalo in 1990 their first Super Bowl. It was easy to become a fan. I completely gave up on the Rams after they moved to St. Louis.
  13. Came across a couple of interesting pieces, one recent, one a couple years old. Not DS stuff, but they certainly provide insight on US geopolitical actions. I'm sure some here were already familiar with Mackinder's thesis; I wasn't. The Great Game Recent analysis US v Russia One immediate thought taken from this, I can see the US supporting Islamic Uyghur nationalists to disrupt China, similar to Brzezinski's plan for the USSR in Afghanistan in the 1970s.
  14. Hopefully there's enough server space for OC's responses.
  15. sounds more like a prophet...
  16. Unacceptable. Good QBs have names like Jim, Joe, Tom, and Dan. Nathan? No way. Maybe, if he goes by Nate...
  17. Well said. Thanks.
  18. agree. CK says it's because he's played LT his entire career.
  19. I've seen estimates they can create about $14 million by restructuring Dareus and Glenn.
  20. trotter was an athletic freak. His 40 time was under 4.6, about the same as kuechly.
  21. In no particular order: 1. The Quiet Man (I always had a crush on Maureen) 2. Casablanca (great writing) 3. Alien 4. North by Northwest 5. The Big Lebowski Really tough to keep it at 5 though.
  22. if you expect Gilmore to be a shut down man corner, then I might agree. In SM's scheme I think they're better off drafting a replacement and getting their financial house in order going forward. The disruption of maroon-to-Rex really set this team back. The clay/McCoy contracts essentially put the bills out of any serious FA signings for the past 2 years. At the time, they were viewed as necessary. I think the pegulas are now committed to a long term vision under McDermott that includes Whaley. In addition to bringing in the right personnel to match scheme, it also means doing a better job managing the cap. From what I've read, run support by CBs is important in this scheme, and that's not one of Gilmore' strengths. I liked Gilmore a lot, but I'm okay with letting him go, rather than pay him $14+ Mil/year.
  23. I don't think Alexander is a LB in a 4-3. He will be the primary backup to Hughes and Lawson.
