OP's post is an F, unless that last sentence was intentional--nice pun.

not necessarily old friends, but people you are familiar with, and know you also get/got along with. If you're going to be spending a lot of time with someone, you don't want some !@#$....

Rapoport: Hints that Bills Are Likely to Keep Tyrod Taylor
TPS replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yes, several articles posted here have connected that dot (the Baltimore years) already. Provides another thread to either support or bash Taylor though... -
The only team you see consistently call a qb sneak is New England. I don't get why other teams don't utilize it?

Why do I feel optimistic? Let me count the ways.

I'm going to judge McDermott on whether he too can win the offseason. No one wins an offseason like Rex, so I will be watching... -

my question was for obm who thinks they are not agile enough to zone block. I think they are for precisely your point. you don't think wood and Miller are agile enough to zone block? -

yes, Rex had a playoff roster handed to him. Wonder if he was a jets plant...? 🙁 -

You have to be strategic in who your retain. Do you think letting Levitre and Byrd go were bad decisions? Again, look at all teams, and you'll find about 25 players +/- 3 who make > $1 million. That means you have to rely on your rookies and cheap vets to fill in the rest of the 53. -

No team has an unlimited budget. They all rely on their draft picks to come in and play. This will be their second years, so the baptism is over, and Shaq will be healthy. From what I read about Washington last year, he fits the more attacking D that SM runs too. If they bring back Lorax, that will give them some veteran insurance, but I'm sure they'll bring in another body to compete at DE. -
Having just seen the Bills' tweet again, it made me curious...I don't recall seeing a tweet That starts with "We've" before, it's usually "The Bills". Not sure if I'm correct or if it means anything, but found it curious.

that's why you bring in cheap vets like they did last year. no team's draft picks provide guarantees, so that's not really an argument. -
wondering if they set someone up with specific info to find the leaker?

I included the safety position because of AW's uncertainty; Washington fills KW's position; the kicker, yes KW is aging. I don't think he will make it through another season of 16 games. Time for new blood there, and he's on the roster. I can see them bringing Bryant back too. There's also an RFA I think they bring back, Coleman, and I've read somewhere they like him. DEs are Shaq and Hughes. To fill starter roles, they need a WLB, S, and the second CB. don't know how confident they are that Seymour can fill it, but with zone, it will be easier to find someone. -

They can be competitive and transition at the same time. Most teams have a core roster of about 25 players who make > $1 million and take up most of the cap space, then they fill in with young players via the draft and older cheap vets. The Bills have 21 players who will fit this category in 2017. On the roster, the Bills currently lack starters at: WR#2 (and maybe a #3 slot should be included), OLB, CB, S (not trusting AW), and P. They have $33 million to to spend. Schmidt is an RFA and they will tender (and they will also tender Gillislee and maybe Groy). They will probably fill 2 of those holes via the draft and spend on 2-3 FAs. There are also all kinds of decisions they can make to save money here and there. Small amounts like cutting IK, and larger amounts from moving on from Carpenter or retirements from KW and AW. The rest of the roster will be filled in the usual way. The biggest issue going forward is of course the QB decision. They can be competitive with Taylor and the current roster while they look for the long-term answer and stock young talent. Their current cap situation is a result of boosting the offense in 2015 to create a playoff-caliber roster. The Clay and McCoy contracts will be resolved in 2018 most likely. They are in a transition, but they will most likely not go the tank route. -
the bet is most likely on your main point: will optimism alone spur real economic growth? The markets' initial reaction underscores a belief, but unless real decisions are made that impact growth and employment, those beliefs will take a beating. I've heard several money managers now say they expect at least a 5% correction in the first quarter because of this. I find Trumponomics very interesting. It's not just an optimism change, his tweeting is causing MNCs to make real decisions. Maybe we should call it Tweetonomics? The most interesting character is Bannon. He knows that trump will fail if he doesn't support the working poor who supported him. While the republicans will and have tried already toattack SS and Medicare, what will Trump do? I think one inkling is how he responded to the republicans attempt to castrate the ethics board--just one tweet was all it took. I have no problem with rolling back Dodd-frank as long as he also moves back to glass-steagall, as he's supported. since banks are under Basel, their ability to inflate credit is constrained. I am worried about the clawback on derivatives though. So, I agree with you GG, that optimism can have an impact, but it still comes down to demand for your product. If Tweetonomics can push more companies to move jobs to the US and others to stay, that is where the beef is.

One can certainly interpret it as they are starting over in a sense. When Rex was hired, the Bills had a top 5 D, so Whaley went out and got Shady, Clay, and Harvin for the skill positions, brought in Taylor and Casel to compete at qb, and fortified the O-line with incognito. While they over-paid shady and Clay, they had a playoff team. That is, until Rex couldn't figure out what to do with the D. Whaley gave Rex a playoff-caliber roster, but they also put themselves in a tough cap situation. They are at a new crossroads with yet another new coach; what to do? Scenario 1: keep Taylor for a couple years and remain a team that flirts with the playoffs, which also means keeping competitive by overpaying woods and Gilmore to stay. If your goal is to simply make the playoffs, this is your option. However, it also means middle round draft picks. Scenario 2: let Taylor go, don't overpay for players, strengthen your cap situation, and keep building the foundation through the draft. This is the long term solution which will take a couple years mainly due to finding a Long-term solution at QB. If they go with 1, then I think it's because Whaley is under the gun to make the playoffs; if they go with 2, then pegula is on board with Whaley and McDermott trying to establish Pittsburgh on Niagara...

On the QB, I said it could be a net gain or loss of cap $s depending on whether they bring in a caretaker or someone like Brees/Romo. By moving on, you're suggesting that we pick up a caretaker who will save from $9-$6 million. That could pay for Woods and a cheap FA or two, but who's the caretaker QB?
