I was skeptical of your view initially, but after watching Beane's presser yesterday and reading between the lines, I think you are right. Beane took the blame for the draft mistake and said he'd have to go back and evaluate his processes, including assessment of player "intangibles".

I see your point, but I think Gilliam gives them stronger play than trying to plug an RB at FB and an OT at TE, and replace the second most snaps on STs.

Gilliam is a hybrid HB/FB. He played TE in college and came in as an UDFA at TE. He played snaps at TE when injuries forced him to last year, so he adds to the mix there if needed as a 3rd or 4th. On STs, only one other player had more snaps, Matakevich.

No, my first mistake was not starting the post with "Take it with a grain of salt...." It's one analyst's take on trying to rank the various positions. I don't view it as gospel--there are some I agree with, and some I disagree with, as I noted.

ESPN posted their position rankings this morning. The Bills placed 3rd overall, with S the only #1 ranking. Of their rankings, I think they are off the most on the Bills' DTs, 19th.
