I believe if we cut Darry's after this year the cap hit is $14 million. I think we have cleared that cap space to take it on next year and still be productive enough in the offseason to continue to move forward. Anyone have the answer to Dareus' cap hit to another team if he is traded this upcoming offseason? If we eat the guaranteed money he could be worth trading for by another team?

IMO, they could sign him for less. Usually shut down man to man corners get paid more. I think we could sign him for $5/year. Then play around with the guaranteed money to get him to sign the deal. It would be tough for Gaines not to sign it as he hasn't had an NFL big pay day yet. He also has been hurt and lost a starting job before. The unsure and unknown vs. a big pay day. I think we would have to get it done in the first half of the season to keep this leverage. Also, paying a CB $5/year is very feasible with salary cap restrictions if he even slid to 4th CB on the depth chart.

I am still optimistic, but, if you only need to put up 3 points to tie a game and 5 or 6 to win I don't think the opposition is worried about that, our D or any D in the league.
