With coaching this is how I see it at the head coach level. There are like 2-4 elite head coaches. Belichick being one. These guys are huge difference makers and tilt the football game in multiple ways. Then there are 2-4 coaches that don't belong at all. They are so bad that they lose games that should have been won. Then you have the rest. They all kinda look the same. This group is what you are thinking of when you think of like David Lee for instance. What I am supporting is that there are a few elite QB whisperers that can bring out the best in real prospects. The advantage is also that these types know who are the real QB prospects they can work with. The Bills have not had one of these game tilting coaches so I can understand your skepticism.

Players matter. Coaching also matters. We will have to agree to disagree there. The NFL game is completely different than the college game for the majority of quarterbacks. I don't want another Nate Hackett here when we draft our next QB.

No, but we should have drafted Derek Carr or Dak Prescott. The Bills need to get some QB people in here that are gurus and attack the draft. No more drafting a guy and waiting 4 years. I think most of can agree that the Bills need to step up and draft someone good. We have waited more than enough years.

There are no big names like Kelly or Ryan. Maybe Coughlin but he's really old. I do agree with Sullivan that the list the Bills have compiled so far is unimpressive. I would expect the biggest catches this year would be Shanahan and McDaniels. Cooter will be the hot name next year if he doesn't get a job this off-season.

Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Brooks, and Mark Brunell all became starting quarterbacks. That's in addition to the fact that they developed Rodgers who was a low 1st round pick that many teams passed on. Sure, he probably would have still been good on the Bills but to pretend the Bills are just as good at things as Green Bay QB development is wishful thinking.

You need Frank Reich as your Ted Nolan. Draft Chad Kelly and let him compete with Cardale. Now you have your choice of QB in 2018.

The Bills need to draft and develop a QB. Can a defensive minded coach come in and hire a QB coach, sure. But I want to make sure we select the right QB, create a modern passing offense, develop that QB in THAT system. Bills have not drafted and developed a starting QB in decades. Time to do it. Bring me Jim Bob Cooter and let's do this.

There is some truth to good players will be good anywhere but you seriously discount development. We need to draft the right guy AND have the right guy here to mold him. Look at Green Bay and all the QB's they developed there on late rounds.

You do realize that Jim Bob Cooter could help us pick our next QB? I would let him do that over Whaley. Cooter and we get a free Quarterback Czar.
