I didn't say we could not find a coach. I said no coach that has options. Why would a coach choose Buffalo over X if we fired a guy with a winning record? Fantasy that we can replace Rex with a top tier candidate.

EJ was the top QB on the Bills board. Whaley set that up. But the decision to go QB was totally Buddy Nix. Nix basically said he was drafting a QB BEFORE the draft and the Bills made a great show of showing interest in every top QB prospect. So I can't see how you hang this on Whaley as Nix decided he needed to have a QB in his last draft.

Absolutely. There is no way the Bills won't make headlines in a bad way if we fire Rex after a winning season. And you are correct, no coaching candidate that is in demand would take a job where the ownership is seen as fidgety. I am in the camp that Rex has underperformed but I don't see how we can get better by firing him now. Another year of this and I'm ready for a house cleaning - rebuild.

Why not get Mike Pettine? He has worked with Rex and seems very good at getting pressure. Would love to see Rex bring him back.

Correct. QB is the biggest issue followed by Safeties (We have the worst group in the NFL). Doesn't matter if you change the GM, coach, or marketing guy if you cannot get a QB. My answer is the same. Pegula should hire a QB guru. Spare no expense. Find the scout who had Derek Carr as his top QB or the one who had Russell Wilson as a top end talent and let that guy report to Whaley and Pegula. Once we get a real QB we can afford to not be perfect like 15 other teams.

Terrible article. By Graham's logic we should never have traded for Lesean MCoy because Kiko was a Bills draft pick and would have counted for a higher percentage of players drafted on our roster.

And that's the problem with ownership. They wanted Rex and in order for him to run his scheme we were going to need to go backwards. My understanding was that Whaley wanted Hue Jackson to be the head coach and for Schwartz to remain at DC. Now that they have hired Rex and he didn't win 10 games are we going to change schemes AGAIN next year?! Please God make this stop.

I'm fine with keeping Rex or moving on. If we move on the Pegulas better have the next super star coach or a proven winner like Harbaugh. Look at the Jets. They wanted to move on from Rex and Bowles is not liked by their fans.

I am with you. Not defending Rex as the answer but I don't see this as a playoff team even with a better coach. Age on the defense, QB play, and injuries have rendered this team what it is. Mediocre. We'll beat bad teams and lose to good teams.w

Bills aren't good at football but they know how to market. If Cardale plays and wins a few games you now have your off-season excitement built up again.
