The fix is in-- Lynn will be the new head coach
jeffismagic replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which conspiracy is it supposed to be? One camp has Russ Brandon as the man pulling the strings and working with Whaley. So why would Russ Brandon, a marketing guy, want Anthony Lynn? Please explain this to me as I can't keep up. -
Marcell Dareus' thoughts on Rex Ryan's firing
jeffismagic replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. I am still stunned that Rex didn't ask to sign a Nose Tackle and move Dareus to DE. Just very odd that a defensive mind like Rex couldn't see what casual fans could. You don't pay 100 million to a nose tackle. Dareus's value is pushing the pocket in the QB's face. -
Rex Told Lynn That Lynn Would Be The Next Head Coach
jeffismagic replied to birdo67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be excited if the Bills hired Anthony Lynn because that would go against the tendencies of both the Pegulas and Russ Brandon. Both would want a more "exciting" hire. Get me the best head coach, even if he is already in the building. -
Anthony Lynn: Should he be the next head coach?
jeffismagic replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anthony Lynn has stated that his buddy Todd Haley is his favorite offensive coordinator and that he studies his game plans. So expect Lynn to install an offense similar to that. Also, Lynn is all about self-scouting his own players and knowing them inside and out. Seeking advice Thrust into the offensive coordinator’s role, Lynn had a good idea how he wanted to approach everything. He’s had a plan in place for quite some time, but inheriting the job and the offensive system in the throes of the season left him with questions. Knowing he didn’t have all the answers Lynn called one of his primary coaching mentors, Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells. “It was Saturday when I called,” said Lynn. “He’s been a mentor for me all along. We talk over the course of the offseason, and before every coaching interview I’ve ever gone into. He’s been there and done it and I wanted to pick his brain. He gave me some good advice.” One of Parcells’ chief coaching principles has been to structure your scheme to the talent of your personnel. Much like his conversation with Wooden, Parcells stressed the importance of maximizing your players’ ability by allowing them to play fast. “We talked about the volume of the offense and what players can handle and finding that sweet spot,” said Lynn. “You want to have enough options, but you don’t want to have too many because that’s going to hurt your personnel. So that was the message and it’s always been that. It’s just sometimes you need it reinforced.” Parcells told him to cut the Bills voluminous offensive playbook in half. It was a bit further than Lynn even wanted to go, at which point the man he coached under in Dallas issued a threat. “He made a statement,” Lynn said. “He said, ‘You better do it or I’m going to come to Buffalo and kick you’re a**.’” http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Offensive-coordinator-Anthony-Lynn---the-first-72-hours/1a30c536-5eb8-4f4f-a7e6-bcb59f32874d -
12-26: Eric Wood and Rex Ryan Media Sessions
jeffismagic replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you. I think people forget how low this franchise was where no one would even interview here. We are out of that basement and even mediocrity is far better than where we were. -
Safety and Wide Receiver seem like two huge needs that could be addressed in the draft. Based on the huge amount of safety talent and the WR's I think Jamal Adams and Mike Williams are players that could match talent on the board with needs.

If people are wondering what Lynn wants to do he said that he admires his friend Todd Haley and studies his game plans. So look at Todd Haley as the type of offense Lynn will want to run. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2015/09/steelers-film-room-todd-haleys-playbook/

What about getting Todd Bowles for D-coordinator?

A Rex Apologist Says Enough
jeffismagic replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marrone was an offensive coach and our offense was terrible but our defense was great. Rex is a defensive coach and our defense is the problem while our offense is much better. Bills can only have one unit that works, never both. -
I hate plays that can lose yardage. But Lynn is doing a great job.

I was so excited when we got Rex because I expected attacking, exotic D. Instead we are soft and conventional. -

I am all for firing Rex but this is on the players. Worst tackling I have ever seen. -

PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan
jeffismagic replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This feels like when the Dolphins brought in Parcells. Big name, great deeds in the past. Unfortunately, Parcells only set the Dolphins back and I expect a Coughlin stint at the end of his career would be similar. Better to draft a QB and bring in a younger guy like David Shaw if the Pegulas want to change horses. -
Doug Whaley - The Tim Graham Feature Story
jeffismagic replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
By Graham's own metric trading an injured linebacker in Alonso for a top 3 NFL running back was a mistake since the Eagles drafted Shady. Yeah, dumb metric that he just made up. Same with trading bust Kelvin Sheppard for Jerry Hughes. Teams shouldn't make trades because they could end having Tim Graham write a column on them! -
PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan
jeffismagic replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, I can see the discipline thing. I think that approach can work as shown by Belichick, Parcells, and Coughlin. I just worry that modern players don't always respond well to that and the hard edge can backfire. Age is a concern as well. I am frustrated because I wish our owners were more focused on finding a QB than changing coaches every 2 years. -
PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan
jeffismagic replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Go on. If your point is that he won two Superbowls with a great QB and elite defense I agree that he has shown he can do that. I do find it funny that the fire Rex crowd constantly brings up the final years with the Jets but now want Coughlin who had a terrible record with a much better QB than Rex ever had. -

7-9 6-10 6-10 records in his final years with Eli Manning, a much better QB than Tyrod. How are people signing up for this?! -
Doug Whaley - The Tim Graham Feature Story
jeffismagic replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can tell when Whaley started making the picks. Under Nix we only drafted SEC and ACC players. Whaley drafted Alonso, Nix never would.
