Rebuild Job or Not?
jeffismagic replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"We're Close" Doug Whaley. No wonder he looked like he was hiding something. To the bottom we go!!! Time to dust off the Sabres tank memes. -
Schefter says decision is made - Tyrod is gone
jeffismagic replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The name being talked about by Bills employees is Frank Reich. It's all starting to make sense. Bills need to keep fans engaged as they head to the basement. Frank Reich and draft Chad Kelly. -

MMQB: Peter King on the Bills' HC Search
jeffismagic replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just went over this. Brandon was there a lot with Pegula when he bought the team. And the Pegulas listened to Brandon on their coaching hire, Rex. Whaley wanted to keep 4-3 defense and get an offensive coach. Now the Pegulas have kept Brandon away from football operations and are letting their football guy do the search. That is a change in organization. There is even contemplation of the new coach reporting to the GM and not directly to the Pegulas. Whaley bought himself some time because he convinced the Pegulas that coaching was a bigger problem than personnel. My main issue with this is the QB. I think Whaley's weakness is finding a QB and I want some insight into how that will change. What would you like to see happen? -
MMQB: Peter King on the Bills' HC Search

That didn't answer my question. What does Terrell Owens have to do with anything? Did you know that Ralph Wilson died? And if you want to say Brandon is still making decisions we'll know soon enough. The Pegula's leaned on Brandon a lot when they took over and are now leaning on the football guy instead of the marketing guy. That's called learning. And Whaley only has so much rope. If he fails to improve the team he will be gone soon as well. Dude, let the past go. You sound like the guy who is afraid to date because his high school girlfriend broke up with him. -
Coach search has come (again) who is the best fit?
jeffismagic replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's think strategically. What qualities matter most to you? To me, number one is to draft and DEVELOP a real NFL QB. Until that happens the Bills are going nowhere. We will continue to be laughed at and made fun of until we get someone that can make NFL throws and beat down teams. QB is more important than ever and the NFL rules favor offense. Look at the Patriots. They used to focus on defense first but now it's all offense and the defense is the after thought. So which candidate has a great offensive mind for the current and future NFL, can be here 10+ years and can function as the de facto Quarterback Czar (because let's face it, Whaley does not inspire here)? Jim Bob Cooter. He is a master at working and developing and even correcting QB play. He has shown he can set up a modern NFL offense. He has connections around the league and Peyton wanted him as offensive coordinator. Under him Stafford went from a better version of Cutler into a QB that limits mistakes while being deadly in the 4th quarter. Bring him in, let him pick his quarterback, maybe Mahomes, and let's go. All these other choices will have us in the 6-9 win bucket 2 years from now. -
MMQB: Peter King on the Bills' HC Search

What does signing Terrell Owens have to do with the Pegula's? I am all about talking football and figuring out how the Bills can get better. On that I am sure we are in agreement. But you keep bringing up strange items that have nothing to do with current ownership (who bought the team two years) ago, finding a QB, and hiring the right coach. As for "holding them accountable", how do you propose to do that? -
Have folks already given up on Cardale?
jeffismagic replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can tell the Bills did not want him to play this year. Lynn only put him in because EJ was choking. Like his pocket presence and arm, he climbs the pocket. Like his demeanor. He really needs to get touch going on passes less than 20 yards. He was firing 100 mph fastballs at receivers 5 yards away. But other QB's like Favre with big arms eventually learned they didn't need to throw a fastball on every throw. -
I'm with you on Patrick Mahomes late 1st/early 2nd. This is who the Bills should be targeting at QB. We might need to trade up in the second to make sure we grab him. Looks like he could be this year's Carr or Prescott.

MMQB: Peter King on the Bills' HC Search

How does whining about press coverage improve our win total? It doesn't. Suit yourself and believe everything that fits your narrative. I will judge people by what they have done. Not my personal burden as a fan. You have no idea what my standards are as you are just emoting. -

I am all for identifying problems and solving them. Reading national media that just copy and paste points from our inept local media does not impress me. The Bills certainly are in flux and could go in various ways. I am waiting to see what their plan is for QB and head coach. If they hire Frank Reich then I'm grabbing my pitchfork and joining in. Till then I await their new coach announcement. -

Sounds like pretty subjective criteria. On the scoreboard the Bills are a mediocre team, not a terrible team. Who cares what anyone thinks. I care about winning. -

When did anyone ever stop making fun of Buffalo? Until we make the playoffs and field a good team this will continue. We could have the best GM and best new QB next year on the team and people will laugh at us until we win. Doesn't prove or disprove anything about the reality of the situation. -

The Bills might not be the most attractive job but who is out there that we need to compete for? Kyle Shanahan is the only coordinator that more than 2 teams might want. But the Bills already interviewed him last time and he didn't even beat out Hue Jackson or Rex. -

John Clayton of ESPn said the same crap last time the Bills were looking for a coach and we landed Rex. Clayton was adamant that Buffalo was a job that Rex would not take. Maybe this stuff is true and it's also possible that media are lazy and just writing stuff they find on the Buffalo News. -
Three TV Networks Interested in Rex Ryan

Good, I hope he does well. Rex is easy to like. -
The only thing worse than a what about Cowher name drop is when the nostalgic fan calls up WGR and asks about Frank Reich. Oh wait, we are interviewing him again...

Pegula's do not know how to run a football team
jeffismagic replied to USABuffaloFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The same national media that is laughing at the Bills "dysfunction" lauded the Jets for their coaching search that was done "the right way" with football guys picking Bowles and Mccagan. Getting a high five from the media means nothing to me. -
Rams Request Permission to Interview Anthony Lynn

Count me out in grabbing a has been. Who's out there that is experienced? Coughlin? No thanks. Whaley, whether you like him as a GM or not, knows way more about football than Terry and Kim. Let's hope he finds the next Tomlin and not dismiss this out of hand. You do want to compete with other teams, time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and find the right coach. -

So you are saying you would have hired Mike Tomlin as he was when he was hired by the Steelers? Because great coaches like Tomlin don't come free, you have to know what you are doing and hire them before everyone else knows they can be the head coach. -
Shaq - some players don't take losing serioulsy

I normally don't believe in things like a "winning culture". But the Buffalo Bills have a losing culture and it's going to be hard for us to shake.
