  1. Btw, it is okay to have 2 good players, it doesn't have to be this one is good, the other one sucks. Sign of the times.
  2. If you take age, potential, contracts etc. into account as HB mentioned, and establish that we are talking about going forward. The guys I trade him(Allen) for right now, subject to change in the future, Hapless is thinking like me. I get Mahomes, Watson, Wilson....I'm leaving Lamar out, you can put him here if you want. Not trading him for the old HOF guys: Rodgers, Brees, Ben, Brady, Rivers Not trading him for Vets on the decline: Ryan, Stafford, Dalton, Newton, Fitz Not trading him for these Young guys: Mayfield, Brissett, Minshew,,Trubisky, Darnold, Haskins, Jones, Murray, Lock, Wentz and Prescott(contracts) Not trading him for these JAGs Winston, Goff, Garapollo, Carr, Tannehill, Cousins(contract) It would be interesting to sample a group of NFL GMs privately and see what they came up with. I think many Allen haters would be surprised how few QBs they would trade Allen for. Likely more than the 3, I bet a hell of a lot less than 20. So taking the high road, middle ground-getting to double digits(10+) is trying way to hard.
  3. insufferable. The Bills defense was -8 expected points on defense their third worst performance this year after Philly and Cleve. That's what I'm talking about. Over and out. Done Yeah he did, but went on to ask if Allen had ever carried the team since maybe Minnesota last year. Me too. Like you, I can admit when my opinions need revisiting.. Agreed. It is so much fun thinking about the next few weeks. Enjoy.
  4. I thought you didn't care about yards- had a QBR of 121 in your language, our defense was not lights out and he looked like the best player on the field that day.
  5. The old saying use to be "when you display a skill you own it". I was largely refering to those who say he hasn't shown he can carry the team when needed, he can.
  6. Many seem to forget that a couple weeks ago against Dallas he played a pretty big role in the win. Dallas did put up a lot of Yards(450+) and First downs(30+) even before we got the lead. The defense didn't win it alone. I don't know about you, but when he was eating the Turkey leg, I didn't hear anyone arguing he wasn't the MVP of the game.
  7. It was a poor attempt at humor on my part. Should have said Bench Allen?
  8. Setting us up for a deep one off a flea flicker, don't believe it. Kick azz
  9. Big discussion on the NFL network about this very subject today. A few years ago it was that the NFL had a dearth of good QBS and the colleges were moving away from the traditional pocket passer. What were they going to do? Well with guys like Lamar, Patrick, DeShaun and hopefully Josh we are seeing the answer.
  10. Are you saying that I picked this stat to support my narrative, because that is completely not the case. I was told that all the metrics said JA ranked it the bottom tier (his QBR is in the mid 20s somewhere), and that was what mattered.
  11. Well since NFL teams are moving towards the type of QB that colleges are now producing and not that, you will be wrong! This post needs to be revisited at a later date.
  12. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2019-nfl-predictions/quarterbacks/?ex_cid=rrpromo For those of you who rely on the NFL Passer Rating system for your QB success ratings, take the time to read this. Also, don't bother saying I'm calling it the be all end all- Its not! It is an improvement in that it tries to provide some additional context and doesn't rely on team context only like QBR. Out
  13. Well there is a ranking system (ELO) that attempts to put a bit of context to it and he's been generally in the 11-16 range. You have stated that you think he's in the 26-30 or bottom tier. I find that absurd.
  14. So essentially what you're saying is that if you have a good defense the QB gets little to no credit if his QB rating (which is largely context dependent) isn't high enough. Now I know what you're doing.
  15. There are certain schemes and QB types that will always do better in QB Rating. Can you say Bill Walsh and Joe Montana etc. vs John Elway and his pedestrian QBRs ? You can win with both.
