    I like McDermott, but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to come up with a strategy of starting with the 3's, then the 2's, and finally the first team.

    Couldn't that also happen with Peterman? It's not like he has a great deal of experience. Any QB is likely to have a tough time starting this season, so you go with the most talented.

    If anyone understands the value of a quality backup QB, it's Frank Reich. Looking back, I would say Reich was worth more than a 2nd round pick for all he did for us.

    but they weren't playing against a the first team defense. Not to say that one of those players won't break through.

    There is no perfect answer. Allen is more talented by far, neither QB has enough experience to offset a skilled NFL defense. I try not to ever draw too many conclusions from preseason games for all the reasons we all understand, but Allen really looks special.

    I think it's easy to be over definitive- it's a clear cut question. Is the playoff drought over. If we made the playoffs, it is, if we didn't make it last season, it would still be on. Let's not overthink this.

    No it's not. We made the playoffs, therefore the playoff drought is over. Just because half the posters here think otherwise doesn't make it a legitimate discussion. That half is totally wrong. We made the playoffs. It's no longer a playoff drought. Over!

    can't see the Raiders wanting to do something like that. An underachieving player and a draft pick 2 years away? A likely lower draft pick than a 2019 pick would be.
