  1. that's pretty much how it should be. how would 5-6 win be good for the franchise? We won 9 last season, added quite a bit to our defense this offseason. Defense could be very good. It's possible AJ or Allen will be more effective than Taylor. I don't understand the 5 win season thinking.
  2. We are not supposed to. The scouts and GM are supposed to. and it's a good point. Kelly's college stats were crap and he had shoulder surgery, turned out ok.
  3. Actually it was 6 Qb's in the 1983 draft. Marino's stock dropped a lot and Kelly was coming off shoulder surgery, so i don't recall much controversy about the picks. Elway was the focus of that draft.
  4. good answer - I'd go after Marino next, then Kelly Does he still bolt to the USFL for 2 years?
  5. yeah, but where are we drafting, how far to move up.... not a real easy question to answer. Simple answer - you don't get cheap, you give up what's necessary to move into position to draft him, or you wait and draft Marino, since he went last in the first round.
  6. Wouldn't move up at that time, coming off shoulder surgery, not a prolific college career.
  7. this is correct. Wasn't Lou Saban at Miami at the time as well? I know Schnellenberger was, but I think Lou was there in some capacity as well.
  8. and he was coming off shoulder surgery. I was away at college during the draft, I remember the talk was, 'we got the guy with the bum shoulder'.
  9. Not saying you are wrong, but I remember this differently. Didn't Rex interview Schwartz for the DC job? It may have been just for show, but I seem to remember that.
  10. No it's not obvious that I care, since I don't. It's obvious that I read threads on TBD and sometimes comment on them. Doesn't mean I care. My comment has nothing to do with his prediction being 'negative' about the Bills, but about the whole idea of predicting team records. I didn't say he's a terrible person... where are you coming up with all this crap?
  11. Just in general, to make any prediction before the draft, mini camp, training camp.... is ridiculous. I also always found reporters predictions to be such a stupid exercise. I mean, who cares what they think, they're predictions have no more credibility than any of ours. Just an ego trip.
  12. Yes they did have SNF- Bills vs Raiders 1990- great game.
  13. I'll give them a chance, but those are 3 people i could go forever without ever listening to again.
  14. I would say above average, ran well, caught well, blocked exceptionally well, great 3rd down back, great in the red zone, strong ST player. He did everything he was supposed to do very well. If he's not hurt in 2011, he's a finalist for MVP for sure. In the right situation, if he breaks out a little earlier in his career, he's a 10K yard rusher.
  15. I always found Savior Peterman to be rather entertaining. He never really was offensive, but his passion for Peterman was pretty funny. I think he added some levity to the board, as he wasn't confrontational with people that blasted him. And the 'high level meetings' was priceless.
  16. suspended from doing what?
  17. but... kick the tires...for the right price....take a flyer....
  18. They could choose to not sign a contract and not play football, but I can't see that happening. Buffalo isn't a prime destination for sure, but we did make the playoffs last season and are in a good position to make a splash at the draft. San Diego did end up with Rivers, so it didn't work out too bad for them.
  19. It's one thing to have cheerleaders at high school basketball games, where you can actually hear them cheer, but in a football stadium doesn't make much sense. Maybe for fans on TV, but not in the stadium. But they were a tradition, so in that sense, it's a shame they are gone.
  20. Is this a serious question? A current o line that is in a huge state of flux, with 2 of the current lineman below average players vs the best lines in franchise history?
  21. it may be hindsight on that particular situation, but it's a common scenario with same risk / reward available each draft. It's a fair argument.
  22. those are the qualifiers for trading up? Come on - we need a QB, Beane trusts his scouts, trusts his own eyes and feels the particular QB is worth it, you have to try to get him. We really , really need a QB. still a good pick, and they are super bowl contenders now.
  23. what's a reasonable alternative? How else to we address the QB situation? Hope one lands with us at 12?
  24. Yep, it's just the reality of the situation we are in. We need a QB...desperately.
  25. and we don't need to sign the big name free agents. Poyer and Hyde have shown that.
