  1. Somewhere between 3 to 6 I think. I would say there’s about an 80% chance that they are in that range and 15% better than that and 5% disaster.
  2. Totally different, Flutie was a former star that just hadn’t gotten a chance. Johnson had 1 start and the Bills overreacted and offered a first. Allen cost the Bills, a 1st, 2 2nds and Corey Glenn. He was their guy for a long, long time. Additionally, things are WAY different than they were 20 years ago. Guys have shorter leashes and the rules have made the league more QB centric. You find you guy and you sink or swim with him. That’s pretty much every regime. Allen is the guy that Beane and McDermott bet on. That’s the horse they are riding. That’s not even up for debate. It’s WHEN, not IF.
  3. I’m almost starting to feel bad for him. He really should just try something else.
  4. This is nothing like Flutie/Johnson. Allen is their QB and Peterman has had a great preseason. The problem with Flutie/Johnson is that different people supported different guys. This franchise is in lockstep regarding Allen. They have targeted him for 2 years to be their guy. It may not work out but he is going to be the guy for at least a couple of years.
  5. That’s a reason to do it IMO. If you aren’t going anywhere anyways, get an asset for him. You can always sign Matt Moore or whomever in a pinch. Process!!!
  6. Yeah, Allen and Logan Thomas has arm strength
  7. I think that the OP’s post has merit. You’d think there would be some (or a lot) of value in getting Allen reps today. I actually thought that he may play the whole game. There would be no reason to sit him otherwise.
  8. Jim Miller sounds like your friend’s dad.
  9. I have a game pass log in that my dad gets with his tickets but the app sucks!! I use the MLB TV app pretty much everyday for Yankee games. It works great. The game pass app lasts like 2 plays and the kicks you out. I used to think it was an internet issue but now I’m convinced it’s an app issue. I’ll try again tonight but am not holding my breath. I’ll flip between the Yanks and college football otherwise.
  10. I actually like McCarron. I was just hoping that Allen would get a bunch of reps (he needs them).
  11. This, to me, is ABSOLUTELY about trading McCarron. If he is going the whole game that’s the plan. He will be a nice piece in the Mack deal.
  12. Good topic Fergy!! I agree, we need to see more of these QBs, WRs and TEs!! We need to see the OL gel. Edmunds needs more reps. This is a good plan. I’d probably take it to 6 but 5 is a nice start.
  13. Improve: - Browns - Giants - Texans Regress: - Bills (ducks) - Broncos (not really regress but no chance at 7.5 wins) - Seahawks
  14. Maybe not, but he isn’t being asked to play all of the time. He’s being asked to play IF Brees is hurt. It is possible that both get hurt but again, he is there to buy time until Brees returns. I mean, it’s not wishful thinking from me. I really don’t like the Saints and am dreading them being good. It’s obnoxious here when that’s the case. As an example, my entire office (except me) is in Saints gear today because of a preseason game. At the same time I do follow them pretty closely being here. That team should be loaded. They are a better team than a year ago when they won 11 games. They’ve improved their secondary, pass rush, pass catchers and depth. IMO, this is a much better roster than the roster that Teddy had at 11-5. There is no reason to think he can’t keep this team going if Brees goes down. This isn’t your older brother’s Saints. They are absolutely Super Bowl contenders.
  15. I mean, I don’t know if the Bills will be the worst team in football. I also don’t know how anyone can objectively look at this team and expect to be good? That is okay. If Allen can play and Edmunds can play, the future is bright. The Bills are going through a rebuilding phase. Next year, it should be complete (or close to it). I don’t care if they are bad now as long as a year from now they look like a team on the rise. That is what “process” is all about.
  16. Payton will run a balanced attack. Bridgewater won’t be handing it to Adrian Peterson 327 times. Teddy had that team at 11-5 when he was just 23. I know the injury was devastating but he appears to be healthy and has looked good. If he can average the same 200 yards a game that he did then and the Saints can run for another 180 they will be fine. Teddy won’t make mistakes and is accurate. That’s enough to keep them afloat.
  17. They added Robinson, Coleman, Davis and Davenport to the defense. Additionally, Okafor is back from injury and was off to a great start last year. Their defense is a lot better than a year ago (at least they expect it to be). Adding Davenport and a healthy Okafor could be 15 more sacks. The increased pressure will lead to increased turnovers. This holds especially true with the leap that Marcus Williams appears to have taken going into year 2. He’s been the star of the offseason. Again, I don’t think that they can win as a 3,000 yard passing team but Sean Payton will never allow that anyways. They will run a controlled passing game and run the ball if Brees is out. If Brees misses 8 games (as an example) it is still entirely possible that they win 5 or 6 of those games. That NEVER would have been the case previously (and it wouldn’t have with Hill). This move is the type of insurance that you need when your window is open. They only stay open for a few years (unless you are the Pats). The Saints had to protect this opportunity.
  18. They don’t though. They’ve pretty much changed the way that they were constructed because it didn’t work. They are a balanced offense that rushes the passer and creates turnovers. They’ve spent the last 2 seasons remaking the secondary, pass rusher and running game. The days of the 5,000 yards passing are gone. They believe, that they are good enough now to withstand Brees missing significant time. That would have been blasphemous not that long ago. They might be right now. That’s why they made the move.
  19. It’s no different than the Eagles last year. The Saints are a different team than they were. They were at the top of the league with 4.7 YPC and rushed for over 2,000 yards last year. They are balanced on offense and can rush the passer on defense. This is the most balanced Saints team since 2009.
  20. Maybe, unless they can get a 2020 from the Bills and more. For example what is a better offer: GB’s 1st and 3rd in 2019 or McCarron, Bills 2nd, 4th and 2020 1st or 2nd? If you think that the Bills are bad (or GB is good) you may consider it. I can’t see the Bills giving up their 2019 1st but they can still assemble a solid offer.
  21. I still think it’s Allen because he can do the most. I’ve said it multiple times (and may be wrong) but when the bullets start flying I don’t see Peterman succeeding. The opposing team will get pressure (easily), jam the receivers and run under every route. They are so incredibly easy to defense. The only way to succeed is to escape the rush and make some plays over the top. That’s the only way you are going to keep teams from playing 11 guys up. To me, Allen is clearly the guy to do that. He also may be able to zing some of those outs and slants by the guys jumping routes. Those can also become big plays. Teams have to defense him differently.
  22. If I’m the Bills here’s my offer: McCarron, a 2019 2nd and 4th and a 2020 2nd that can become a 1st (based on some unlikely criteria).
