  1. It’s sad if a grown man can’t do at least a few. Watching Howard try to do a pull-up was like watching watching Peter McNeeley fight Mike Tyson. You knew what was going to happen but you still had to see it.
  2. 1. Allen starts week 1 (even though I think he needs time). 2. Edmunds is DROY and goes to the Pro Bowl. 3. Shaq Lawson gets double-digit sacks (that’s the longshot)
  3. Great post!! A lot of interesting thoughts!! One more trend that we are seeing seeing more and more of is young players replacing mediocire vets. The money isn’t going to the Marshall Newhouse’s of the world. They sign for a relatively low number or are replaced by late round picks and UDFAs. The money is becoming more top heavy.
  4. Sorry it was supposed to say “are” not “aren’t.” I’d agree with the bottom 3rd being somewhat replaceable. The reality is those guys are a part of that 215 of 100,000. Those guys are the ones are least likely to have a large chunk guaranteed. The point was the top guys will always get large chunks guaranteed. The OP was suggesting that it should be more incentive based to give you a pass on a bad contract. The reality is that it is heading the other way. The NFL is giving MORE guaranteed money to the top players now. The Kirk Cousins deal set a very interesting precedent.
  5. The biggest difference is that your assets are your liabilities.
  6. His point was, anyone can do those jobs. You know the risk but it is easy to get a job as a miner. It is not easy to get a job as an NFL player. That is why they aren’t compensated differently. 215 out of every 100,000 high school seniors make it to the NFL. More than 215 of every 100,000 people that want to be a miner achieve that.
  7. Good point, I totally forgot about them. They went from bad to great overnight. They loaded up.
  8. Tell me the last team to turn over their roster like that? Thinking about the 2018 Browns like the 2017 or 2016 Browns is crazy. They are TOTALLY different. Hue Jackson is the only thing that’s the same. They have a lot of young talent and now a lot of experienced upgrades. They are literally better at every single position group than a year ago.
  9. The bold is where we disagree. Less than half of the guys that started on those 1-31 teams are starting now. Every year is a different year and a different team. The 2016 Browns record has absolutely no impact on the 2018 Browns record. In the same manner the 2016 Eagles record has no effect on the 2017 Eagles. I’m not saying that the Browns are a Super Bowl contender. I think that they win 8 games. I don’t think that the Bills win 8. By 2019 though, both teams have a chance to be threats in their division (if the rookie QBs can play). IMO, the Browns are further along than the Bills though. They are better at OL, QB, WR, pass rush, and LB. The Bills should be better at DB and RB but the Browns are good there as well. The Bills have better coaching and should have a more stout run defense. Again though, they are a year ahead in their rebuild. They had the cap space and a ton of picks. The Bills had picks but not a lot of cap space. By next year the roster should be pretty stacked.
  10. It’s just a different team. The 2018 Browns look nothing like the 2017 Browns. QB - They turned Kizer into Tyrod and Baker. DB - They added Gaines, Randall and Ward. WR- They have a healthy Gordon and added Landry. OL- They added Corbett and Hubbard. RB- They added Hyde and Chubb. LB- They added Kendricks They are pretty much better everywhere. Usually when a team goes through a transition phase they improve in some areas and get worse in others. The Browns are better across the board.
  11. The unemployment rates have been dropping for years: https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000
  12. This is whole thing is ridiculous. The players were like “we aren’t coming because you are an A-hole.” Don then was like “you aren’t invited anymore.” That’s the most childish thing ever. The reason that they were “uninvited” is because less than 10 guys were going to attend. That’s not a good look for Don to take a picture with less guys than the team has on the field on a given play.
  13. Ha ha, I was at that trash game too. That hasn’t to be the end of EJ (it was). I went to Game 7 of the ALCS there last year too. Needless to say my sports experiences in Houston haven’t been positive but I’m going to give it another go.
  14. I’ll definitely be in Houston. The Yankees and Astros COULD be playing there that week as well. If so, I may be there for a while. Lambeau is a maybe as is Baltimore.
  15. Agreed The only reason that I included Edmunds is because I think that the Bills could be an elite defense moving forward. He will be the “QB” of that unit and the key piece. If he’s an All-Pro LB moving forward the Bills will be tough. I expect them to add a pass rusher this offseason as well. If Allen can play the Bills will have a QB and a defense. It’s easy to be a good team from there. The Panthers were 15-1 with that recipe a couple of years ago. It feels like that is the model that they are trying to replicate.
  16. I have a good friend that played for Saban in college and Belichick in the NFL. He thinks highly of both of them. He spent some time with Rob Ryan as his DC in Cleveland. He didn’t think much of him (at all).
  17. As crazy as it sounds I’m less concerned about the 2018 record than I am the future. If we see that Allen and Edmunds can play, I am good. 2019 is the year where they should be loading up and will have a strong young core and a ton of cap space. If we look like the 2016 Eagles that’s fine. A year from now we could be looking at a real contender.
  18. This deserves 10,000 likes. He should have been honored with it already but this is great news.
  19. I do the same thing. We’ve been together 9 years today actually and engaged for 3 and a half. It’s just easier!! Congrats!!
  20. Yeah, I know. We were also sued by Kodak over it. I said “shout stays.” The point was we should stop stealing others songs, slogans and tag lines . “Process” isn’t a Bills thing. It’s a 76ers thing.
  21. We just don’t agree on the “moving the needle” part. I don’t even disagree that it was grandstanding. With that being said, even if it got political, the conversation has taken place. I agree that the conversation primarily became about the anthem but his grievances are attached to that. It isn’t “no one talking about police brutality.” It is less than the kneeling but it is there. Even if 90% of the conversation is about the flag and 10% about race relations that 10% is 10% more than would have been there without kneeling. It has led to a ton of exposure and money.
  22. The NFL has given like $80M to it. We are talking about it on a Buffalo Bills message board. The president got involved. The media has been talking about it for 2 years. Do you really not see that?
  23. I tend to agree with you Tipster. It looks like a low scoring game to me that will be won by the team that makes less mistakes. Flacco can make mistakes and our secondary is opportunistic. The Bills may not win the game but that game doesn’t scare me.
  24. The strangest thing about this is that people honestly believe that it wasn’t effective or he should have picked a different stage. Kaep used the time when the most eyeballs were on him to bring attention to his cause. Whether you like it or not, it had a massive impact. He has gotten a ton of publicity for his cause and raised a lot of money. He put his cause before his own personal gain. Again, like it or not, Kaep’s protest has had a massive impact.
