  1. Should have cut Dimarco instead but I’m not mad at it. I’d rather play young receivers to see if any of them can play. We know Kerley is never going to be better than okay. Maybe someone like McCloud can become a quality NFL receiver? If so, that’s one less that you will need moving forward.
  2. Even worse though because EJ had some physical skills. I’d say Cardale Jones and Losman were more like EJ. They were guys with some physical skills but spotty resumes. Peterman is Rudy.
  3. If you are watching the Ohio State game there are a few others to keep an eye on that haven’t been mentioned yet. Parris Campbell plays the Percy Harvin role in Meyer’s offense. He’s an explosive playmaker when the ball is in his hands. Kendall Sheffield is a JUCO transfer CB. He is a former 5 star and is probably next in the list of great OSU corners. Isiah Prince is another OL that was a high end recruit that will be on an NFL OL. Mike Weber, Johnnie Dixon & Austin Mack are a few more skill players that will play at the next level. There are some younger guys too that aren’t eligible yet that will be great pros (Chase Young especially). Also, I strongly, strongly encourage those of you that don’t follow college football to check out the college football forum. There is a lot of good conversation from people that pay close attention.
  4. That has to be one of the Bull Brothers. The Petermaniacs remind me of the band on the Titanic.
  5. And no one shows those looks in preseason so his pre-snap reads are open.
  6. Perfectly said GB!! People wanted to believe in Peterman because he was the other guy. They also have a lot of trust in McDermott (more than any coach in recent memory). Whether or not that is warranted is a different debate it it is a factor. The same people that wanted Peterman last year doubled down this year. They advocated for him and he failed. They desperately wanted to be proven right so they convinced themselves that he was viable again this year. He failed. It is a combination of the grass isn’t always greener on the other side and human nature. People like to be right. The problem is that anyone being objective knew it wouldn’t work.
  7. The preseason isn’t a great indicator of a QB’s progress (or lack thereof in Nate’s case). As you said, teams play conservatively in coverage and then try to wrap up and tackle. They don’t break hard on balls to avoid big collisions. They don’t reveal any exotic looks designed to confuse the QB because they don’t want tape on it before the regular season. They rest guys that have the slightest bumps and replace them with backups. The best players play the least snaps. Nate is fine if you want to play a rythym passing game against a team that isn’t trying to disrupt your rythym. That’s the problem though. When the game matters teams know that if they can disrupt his timing he has no chance. The play that was the best indicator was when the DL dropped into the passing lane and then dropped the INT. I think he got picked again on the next play. The DBs got right up in the receivers faces daring Peterman to make a play beyond them. They cranked up the pressure to throw off his timing and get him uncomfortable in the pocket. EXACTLY what people thought would happen, happened. It will happen again if he is ever thrust back into the lineup. That’s why he can’t play. He is just too easy to defend. The fact that we could see that but McDermott couldn’t is terrifying.
  8. This is wild!! Guy is looking at 25 years and the Seahawks are hoping to get 10 or so games out of him?!? Wow
  9. This is the QB through AT LEAST 2019. If he is a total failure like Paxton Lynch they will look for a guy after next season. They aren’t considering a guy next year though. There’s a zero percent chance of it. They spent 2 years working to get Allen. Now we will see what he can do with trash. Next year we will see what he can do with NFL players around him. 15 months from now we will have an idea as to Allen’s NFL future.
  10. Again, things are always subject to change but before the last draft the teams already have the majority of their scouting done for the following year. It’s pretty rare that a guy comes out of nowhere. In fact, it’s much more normal for a guy to regress with more tape (Barkley, Clausen, Geno, etc...). These teams aren’t learning about these guys now. 32 teams already have an opinion on Herbert vs. Stidham. That can change some but there isn’t going to be some guy come out of nowhere that ends up in round 1.
  11. A lot can change but guys don’t come out of nowhere because teams scout a year ahead. Last year’s class was supposed to be great and we saw 5 go in the 1st round. This year, Justin Herbert seems to be the guy with Stidham and Lock behind him. I don’t think that any will grade out as high as last years 1st 3 or 4.
  12. I happen to think that the Bills will be competitive this week. They won’t roll over after that embarrassment. With that being said they aren’t going to win a lot.
  13. So he will give the team a lift?
  14. 19-35, 243 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int, 5 sacks, 32 yards rushing
  15. It’s funny but that’s what i said to my dad before the game Sunday. I’m looking at this year like that in a lot of ways. That’s all the more reason I’d just cut guys like Ducasse, Holmes, Vontae and run younger guys out there. If the young guys can play, you have one less piece (whether it be starting or depth) that you need moving forward. Guys like Ducasse can’t possibly be a part of the future anyways so you should try to find someone who might be.
  16. That’s the point. If Allen is ready to go it’s fine. I was all for starting him but mainly because you didn’t have another option. I thought starting Peterman would be tragic (it was worse). If going out there now, with this garbage, sets Allen back it’s a huge mistake to not have a viable option. Peterman does not belong in the NFL period. He’s an absolute and total scrub. They are forced to play Allen now even if they don’t want to. They should have been able to dictate his timeline like the Jets, Cards, Ravens and Browns can with their rookie 1st rounder. The Bills don’t have an option. That’s a mistake by the FO.
  17. If I had to guess I would bet the Pegula’s pretty much know already what the state’s contribution will be. I go back and forth some with the amount that it will be. I’m guessing at this point $400m-$500m with the rest coming privately.
  18. He didn’t play well but had another 77 yards and a TD on the ground. He isn’t perfect but he is closer to Tom Brady than Nathan Peterman is to Tyrod Taylor. There is no (and has never been) a debate as to which of those two was (or is) better. Moving on from Tyrod was fine if they were going to play Allen. They are now. Moving on to run that scrub out there though wasn’t a good decision. If Allen’s development isn’t stunted by going out there now it is non issue. If he gets broken because of this trash team it will be a massive mistake to not have Tyrod (or a serviceable vet).
  19. I’d be willing to wager on that too. It will almost certainly be a public-private partnership. They almost all are.
  20. That feels like the right number to me. That’s probably a standard number for a decent NFL team. I think that we may be looking at 5 or 6 this year. There are some teams that we just don’t belong on the field with (like next week in Minnesota).
  21. I’ll bet that they function like my clients do here. I have a couple of clients that have massive city and/or state contracts. They donate the maximum amount that they can to all viable candidates.
