It depends on how you define potential. I saw a guy completely overwhemed that didn’t look like he belonged. I’m looking at a guy that is a clear number 3 option that will never be more than a number 2 option here. How hard is he to replace? I’d be surprised if he didn’t make it through to the PS. The Jets have held Hackenberg because he was a 2nd round pick. They won’t even dress him. At what point to you say, “the guy isn’t good?” Did the Bills give up on Levi Brown too soon? He was a similar prospect to NP. People have this fear that if they release Peterman he will go somewhere and become a good starter and they’ll regret it. That’s a terrible way to operate. If the guy stinks, he stinks. You don’t need to operate out of fear. If he is better than McCarron (which I highly doubt) then cut McCarron. If McCarron is better, cut Peterman. I don’t see any reason to carry a 3rd QB that will never be more than a backup.

Do you think that the Bills should have given Nic Harris as many chances to succeed as Aaron Maybin? The answer is of course not. The 1st round pick is always going to be given WAY more rope than your 2nd 5th round pick. The Saints cut Garrett Grayson a year after making him a 3rd round pick. The Jets are clinging to Sackenberg even though they won’t even dress him. If a guy can’t play he can’t play. It’s much easier to cut a 5th rounder than it is a 1st. No one called Nic Harris a “bust.” You can’t have 190 guys picked before you and be a “bust.” You have to have expectations to be a “bust.” Peterman isn’t a bust. He’s just bad at football. If Allen fails he’s a bust. There is a giant, giant difference in the expectations.

I guess that the point that I was making was sooner than I thought. It just seems like the Bills want him out there now. Cleveland this year, and KC last year were pretty forthcoming about their plans to give the QB time. The Bills have elected a different route. Either of them can work but it’s different than what I anticipated with Allen.

I’ve been of the belief that Allen needs time. The sense I get however is that the Bills are hoping that he’s ready early. He will be given every opportunity to play from the jump. I voted Allen because that’s what I think will happen. If he isn’t ready as early as they want McCarron will play until he is.

Antonio Brown almost drafted by the Bills

Let me ask it a different way. Do you honestly believe that Antonio Brown would have been out of the league if the Bills drafted him? If you really believe that I believe that you are delusional. Again, I’m not saying that he would have become the best player in the league. He may have been merely a “good receiver.” He might have had Emmanuel Sanders’ career. There is no chance that a guy with that ability was going to fail. -
I definitely trust Daboll more than Dennison. At the same time the guy that threw 5 INts in a half deserves his share of the blame for those 5 INTs. I agree that he shouldn’t have been out there but he is accountable for his performance when he is. And it was an epic failure!! Replacing a decent game manager with a 5th round scrub is a massive mistake. Every objective football guy saw this prior to starting him. Bills fans were the only ones dumb enough to not see it. It was a massive mistake.

Antonio Brown almost drafted by the Bills

The best player in the league doesn’t fall out of the league. He may have just been a good receiver but there’s ZERO chance that talent failed. The cream rises.... 1. Guys that play well 2. QBs pass to the best receivers on every single team. -
I just don’t get it. How could a reasonable person look at Nate Peterman and think, “this guy has got it?” The rest of the country laughed at us when we started him. It was worse than they expected. Everyone with a brain knew it would fail but Bills fans thought it was a good idea and everyone else was dumb. 99 times out of 100 the objective outsiders are right and the emotionally charged super fans aren’t. Peterman should be fighting for a roster spot not a starting job.

Why do people believe in Peterman? It’s an honest question? He was historically bad and was a 5th round pick for a reason. People hated Fitz, Orton, and Tyrod who were all decent and swear by Peterman. It is so strange. We are the only fan base in the world that prefers scrubs to decent. That is unique to Bills fans.

I don’t know that he would have become the best player in the league but he certainly wouldn’t have been out of the league either. -
Didn’t see this posted anywhere: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2018/05/antonio_brown_revisits_taking_draft_day_call_from_steelers_instead_of_buffalo_bi.html FWIW, I think that he’s the best player in football. He’s better than Danny Batten.

2023, 2024 Super Bowls Awarded to ARZ and NOLA

It’s been 11 years for me. I’m from WNY but absolutely a part of the collective “we” for New Orleans. I will likely be here for the rest of my life and it’s the opposite of a transient place. You either are a part of it or you aren’t. I’d say that it was probably 3 or 4 years before I got that. I guess everywhere is different. -

It’s about damn time. We haven’t hosted a Super Bowl since the lights went out. -
I like the look of this roster/Defense
Kirby Jackson replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have high expectations for the defense. They need more pass rush but other than that they are loaded. They are stout upfront against the run now, fast at LB and have an elite secondary. If the Bills add one of those DL in the 2019 draft, watch out. -
He has played mostly h back. That’s the same position that Harvin played in Urban’s system. Curtis Samuel went in the 2nd last year after doing the same. Campbell hasn’t been asked to run a ton of those routes but can. He’s explosive. The Bills need guys to run deep routes and to run after the catch. The Bills need some guys capable of making chunk plays. Shady and Clay are the only ones capable of making big plays. I thought that the Bills should have kept Thompson.

It is amazing how those 8 games are all that anyone remembers about Bledsoe. I’ve posted in here numerous times but after those 8 games he was no better than Losman or EJ. He was horrendous. I get the Fitz love somewhat and he should be #2 (or #1 if Tyrod is ineligible). Cowart had a chance to be one of the best players the Bills ever had. That injury was devastating and he never recovered. That doesn’t even factor in Bledsoe’s fumbles. It isn’t even close. It blows my mind how fondly people remember him. If you pull those 1st 8 games out it is terrifying.
