Fan fell from 300 level to 200 level

Maybe....but that would disappoint me, and be a return to the old sub-par writing...they spent a bit of time, before this episode, remindnig us that Michone still has an ax to grind with the governor. I tend to think the gov is actually a "changed man" who will be humbled and be looking for forgiveness...remember, though his Woodbury guys abondoned him to a bunch of walkers, they didn't off him when he shot down a bunch of their friends from Woodbury. You both might be right, but (what look to be) two entire episodes spent on a character that we might have just assumed was long dead, just to bring him back and kill him, would seem sort of pointless...he may eventually be killed, but I don't think it is happening any time soon...or at least not this season.

See "skating turd" thread! I don't think so...they spent a whole entire episode on his story, introduced a whole new family of characters, and then had him "reunite" with his old constituents...it looks like next week is all governer all the time as well... something tells me this is going to be a major development for all the characters on the show, new and old.
-
I have to say, I am stunned by the level of improved writing this season, so far. I was really kind of dreading the return of the governer (I really hated that whole story line, and just did not "feel" the character at all), but this weeks episode was really engrossing. It seems like there has been a real emphasis on fleshing out the characters, which wasn't really a priority before....I am still thinking Carol is going to be back at some point...she was one of the few characters, prior to this season, who had any sort of real back-story early on...from the looks of next week though, looks like another governor-centric episose...no sighting of Rick and co...

I am a miserable 3-7, if Brady & Gronkowski can get 38 points tonight (not impossible, but not likely) I will be 4-7, just like the Bills. As bad as that sounds, only two teams in our twelve team leauge are really heads and shoulders above the rest...three of the playoff spots are still up for grabs...I am still a long, long shot, but not completely dead yet. The guy who won the whole thing last year, as I recall, eeked out a 6-7 record, got the last playoff spot, and won it all (about $1400)!

Couple great quotes in Daily News Article

As I was getting ready to head to the bar and watch the game yesterday, I had the GR pre-game show on. Even the local Buffalo guys seemed, to me, to be giving the Jets way too much credit...all of the vaunted "roundtable" guys picked the Jets to win, pretty soundly...except Paul Hamilton who said "Far be it from me to be the optimistic one, but I think the Bills are going to win this one...just a feeling" -
I just started and finished watching Breaking Bad

Lois: "stop poking me with that thing" -
Simply, on the season, Geno has made more "big plays" than EJ, but he has also made more bad plays....both guys are developing, or not...ones' performance really has very little to do with how good, or bad, the other guy is,
-
Ummm...that is not the way it is done....most recent performance is the only thing that matters when judging players...get with the program, or you won't last long in these parts...

Don't know what the final tally was, but it was the first game, in a long time, too, where the Sabres weren't outshot by a mile. The Leafs may have finished with a few more shots, but the Sabres, by far, had the better quality scoring chances.

Holy crap, that was a fun game last night... last season, and the way this season started, I almost forgot what it was like to enjoy watching the Sabres...after last night, they gotta re-sign Ott! All that said, anyone have a guess as to how this season will play out? Is Miller still a goner? Are they still in Darcys' full-on rebuild mode? Is the plan still the same? As frustrating as this team has been to watch the last 3 years or so (I am being kind!), I still feel like there is more talent on this roster than the results are showing. Could a combo "lion-heart" /fresh blood coach like Nolan be the one to get more out of them? I realize, that is a big jump to make after one game... but from all the hype I have heard about Nolan, his teams "will" play with all the cliche passion and emotion that is needed to win...unlike what they have been doing for a few years now. Christ, even Drew Stafford looked like an NHL hockey player last night. Cody Hodgson, in my book (even before the coaching change) is looking like the rare Sabres long-term extension that may have actually worked out. The kid is not a great defensive player, true, but he is improving, as does his comfort in the offensive zone. I am not quite ready (but close) to giving up on Lleno just yet. He is always hurt, but when he is not, I feel I see glimpses of what the Sabres saw when they agreed to overpay him...but he just can't stay healthy. He could be going down the Tim Connolly path... but I sometimes feel like, with the right pairing, he could still excell. I realize, that is not a popular opinion.... Have to admitt, as big a Sabres fan as I am, and have been, I actually saw very little of the Lafontaine/Mogilny/Hawerchuk/Hasek/Ted Nolan era in the 90's. I had moved away from WNY in the early 90's, and, until Center Ice came along much later, it was damn near impossible to follow the NHL in those days. No internet...just the 2 or 3 regular season games in ESPN2, and then some playoff games, on the rare chance that the Sabres made it past the second round of the playoffs. So, my impressions of Ted Nolan are based mostly second hand info...but I am enjoying the "new era" so far!

Right? I am not sure what the deal was with him in Indianapolis, but it is hard to believe that the Colts made this trade...the guy has been very solid...from everything I have read about Sheppard in Indy (admittedly, not much) it sounds like he is somebody who may not be on the roster very long. Score + for our front office....they get things right sometimes. EDIT: Hadn't seen the article from the Buffalo News today, about Hughes, when I made this post. It seems, from what Whaley is saying, the Colts actually contacted the Bills about making a trade for Sheppard...when the Bills asked what they would give in return, they didn't want to trade draft picks, but offered Hughes. Whaley said it was a "no brainer". Yes, the penalty thing is very frustrating...as good a game as Marcell Darues had against the Steelers last week, his penalty on the field goal attempt could be viewed as a back-breaker for the Bills. At that point, assuming the field goal was good, we would have only been down by 10, not 14. Obviously, the Bills offense wasn't up to the task last Sunday, but that 4 point swing goes a long way toward dictating play calling late in the game.

Sabres have been granted permission by the Penguins to speak with Jason Botterill, who is an assistant GM (and former Sabre), one would assume, to fill the vacant Sabres GM job.
-
I wonder how all of these moves today change this season. Are the Sabres still "bottoming out", or do they try to dig and claw their way into a playoff spot...most likely, to come up short? Also wonder what it means for guys like Miller, Ott and Moulson. I have a feeling Moulson is not happy, or at least wasn't under Rolston. The other night, after he was benched by Rolston for the final 26 minutes of the Anaheim game, Moulson said he was "humiliated" and had "never been so embarrassed in his NHL career". Ott has looked miserable at times out there... will Pat Kaleta have a role on this edition of the Sabres? Either way, I can't wait to see the next Sabres game Firday night...the first of a home and home with Toronto...it has been a while since I have been excited about a Sabres game!

Bills contact NFL about scheduling disadvantage
Buftex replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You might have a more valid point, if the Bills had a markedly better home record than road record. I am sure their won-loss record is better at home over the last 13 years, but when a team wins so few games, it can't be that much better...I don't like the Toronto thing either, but it seems a more necessary evil than what the Bills are griping about. -

I could be wrong, but haven't the Bills been the team to face this "teams off the bye week" or "extra rest" scenario more than any other team, almost every year? -
R. I. P. Todd Christensen: Former Raiders TE dies at 57
Buftex replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was a terrific pass catching tight-end, and a tough guy... I will say, as a color commentator he was very "Dierdorfian", he could talk, a lot... If I recall, he also did some play by play for the original American Gladiators! Now that was classic tv! R.I.P. -
Thanks for the correction...as always.

Lafontaine is "director or hockey operations", while Kevin Devine willl serve as "interim" GM...he was Darcy's "assistant GM". Nolan was announced as an "interim" coach as well.
-
Ted Nolan new coach.....Pat Lafonatain Director of Hockey Opertations
-
TSN reporting Darcy has been fired too! Good work TPegs! Good work...better late than never!
-
It is all true...PC right now! Still no mention of a new GM
-
Paul Hamilton reports Ted Nolan is the "new" head coach of the Buffalo Sabres.
-
I ask becasue I really don't know...is Lafontaine qualified for such a job? I remember he worked in some front office capacity for the Islanders a few years back, and resigned, as I remember, because he didn't see eye to eye with ownership...but I don't think he was there very long...was he the one who hired Ted Nolan? Could Nolan replace Rolston, if the Rolston rumors are true? I hope this is a great move, and not just another nod to the "good old days"... we shall see.
