  1. My favorite: 49ers at Redskins OSN’s Pick: Redskins – The 49ers will still be struggling to adjust to the new NFL rule that forbids physical contact with a quarterback during sacks.
  2. Agreed...the chicken itself is just not good. I remember Duffs being much better back in the late 80's early 90's...last two times they were kinda gross.
  3. The more I jar my brain on this, I do seem to remember a little controversy about Reeds' performance in that game...I think it was more vocal fans (pre-internet) thinking he was dogging it down the stretch. I seem to remember Kelly, or maybe it was Van Pelt, throwing a int, and there was a feeling that Reed didin't put much effort into preventing it...it is all staring to come back to me...I also do remember, he was legitiamtely hurt going into that game as well...
  4. Yeah..I can't remember if it was Parcells or Belichik who once said something about the Giants plan in SB25 was to take Andre Reed out of the offesne, at all costs...they seemed to think that Kelly to Reed had a greater chance of beating them than Thurman did on the ground....and the Bills O-line was pretty damn great then, so pressuring Kelly wouldn't be easy...whichever guy it was (I think it was Parcells) said they were determined to "beat Andre Reed up" in that game...and it worked. The Redskins did much the same the following year...defenders were actually afforded the luxury of playing defense back in those days. Reed was gang tackled anytime he came near the ball...whether he caught the ball or not, he was going to feel it. As I recall, before Jerry Rice played in the Super Bowl as a Raider, Reed led the league in pretty much all Super Bowl passing categories...sure, he played in 4 of them, so he was bound to accumulate numbers, but he wasn't invisible in those games.
  5. Reed was the "king of the YAC". He was the first player I remember the term "yards after catch" was strongly associated with....it may have even been Dierfdorf on MNF who started calling it "YAC", while talking about Reeds abilitiy to break short passes into long gains.
  6. You many be right...but I have to disagree about CC's off the field woes...it seems like it was all I heard about before, and after his induction...they guy is the self proclaimed poster-boy for "turning your life around"...and he seems to mention it every chance he gets...
  7. Jerry Rice seems to think Andre Reed belongs in the HOF....what would he know? http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-hall-of-fame/0ap2000000285352/Hall-of-Fame-Jerry-Rice-on-most-deserving-wide-receiver-candidates Yes, I have heard this misconception repeated numerous times over the last few years, that Andre Reed couldn't/wouldn't "go over the middle"..which only proves to me that his detractors either really didn't see him play very much, didn't know what they were watching, or just don't know wtf they are talking about...
  8. The op's "humour" on its' own is a bit too wordy to be funny...FAIL! On the other hand, look at the comedy gold it inspired!
  9. My old boss, at my previous job, every few months would get us Pluckers for lunch. I was her assistant manager, and I think she chose them, because she thought I was really into wings...I never had the heart to tell her, I only like wings if they are good. I really just like traditional Buffalo wings...hot! Their hot wings are just hot, with no taste, just all hot spice...I started just getting them with barbaque sauce, because hey, who doesn't like barbque chicken? Even with that, the sauce just tasetes like Kraft BBQ sauce or something. I was bummed when Wing Zone closed down...Pluckers just does not do it for me, and their prices are rediculous. Casinos has terrific wings (another ex-Buffalonian), but the downside is, they don't really do take-out, they take forever (they tell you that up front) and their location on 6th Street is not so appealing to an old !@#$ like myself. I only ever go there, anymore, if I am going to see a band on Red River and get down there a little early.
  10. Yes... Bonnies has great wings...best I have had outside of Buffalo. The place is small, and gets a bit crowded, but they are also a "Bills bar" on football Sundays! I was back in WNY this past July. My nephews, also in from Georgia, really wanted to go the the "world famous" Anchor Bar. The part of my family, much like those here, kept saying how "overrated" they were, and how they "suck"...I wasn't expecting much, as I hadn't been there in years...I thought they were actually really, really good...I had the opposite experience the previous trip home, with Duffs. Still though, like a lot of places, I realize, for whatever reason, some nights are better than others at different resteraunts. My personal favorite in Buffalo is Casa Di-Pizza over on Elmwood. They are awesome, every time! Living in Texas, where the wings generally suck (though there are some slightly better options than there used to be), I had kind of given up on wings...but Casa is what I dream about, when I dream of real chicken wings! It doesn't hurt that their pizza kicks ass too!
  11. No. Nobody thinks that.
  12. Let the debate rage! From the list, I am partial to Gabriels (Buffalo) and Bonnies (Brooklyn)....not on the list, Casi De Pizza! Who is that at #1? I don't think so... They place "Pluckers" at #13...they are terrible, IMO. Not even the best wings in Austin (Casino's!), let alone the 13th best in the country! http://www.thedailym...wings-slideshow
  13. I remember a few weeks ago, when Garcia was openly lobbying for the Browns to give him a chance, they showed his career stats...I had almost forgot he was with the Lions.
  14. The woman were rescued almost a month ago it seems. Interesting how different our approach is to this here, as evidence by the three young ladies rescued in Cleveland. The Cleveland story was just so horrible, I couldn't stand hearing about it anymore. I remember talking to my girlfriend at the time, as we were watching all the welcome back celebrations for the girls, saying they would probably be better off without all of this, as well intended as it may have been. Just really sad stuff...
  15. I will have to go back and watch...but I remember the dinner scene where Hoovers' promotion is announced, he made the speech about how he had been working on trying to establish a national connection between organized crime bosses in Philly, New York, Chicago and Atlantic City...Knox got pissed off because it was his "project" and Hoover had kind of dismissed it up to that point...after Eddie died (his "weak link" in the Thompson chain), J Edgar, I thought, kind of told Knox was on his last chance to prove some connection between all of them...Eli is his last chance. Kind of wonder, as Eli made a point to downplay the connection between the various crime syndicates and the Chicago faction, could Eli be planning to have the Chicago guys take care of Knox, and his partner? Given the whole thing with his son, and his new involvement with Nucky, I can't see Eli not trying to slip out of his deal with Knox. I don't think Knox knows that Eli's son is now working for Nucky...only about him dodging the murder charge back at his college...should be a good finale!
  16. I agree with this...but I also think some Bills fans need to get the "I hate the Super Bowl" era Bills players chip off their shoulders at the same time. It all depends on what argument somebody is trying to win!
  17. I didn't hate Simms as a player, but IMO, he is far and away, the worst of the major color guys...ok, he and Jon Gruden...I am sure there are some just as bad doing lower level games....but man, he is remarkably bad, to me. The guy can't complete a thought and confuses himself half the time...like he can't manage two thoughts in one sentence...sometimes, I find myself shocked that he is still talking, and I really have no idea what point he is trying to make....and as goofy, and obvious as some of the things Dierdorf or Madden might say from time to time, they are rarely as blatently just flat out wrong as Phil Simms, on a consistant basis... Simms takes exception, it seems, to anything that falls outside the parameters of his old school mentality about the game...and he will harp on it, even after all the evidence in front of him says he is wrong. Now, as bad as I think Simms is, I do enjoy him on Inside the NFL, which is more scripted...of the major color guys, I would take Aikman (if he didn't come with Joe Buck) and Collinsworth over him in a heartbeat...
  18. To me, there is really no established criteria for who is a Hall of Famer, and who isn't, other than being an Pro football player. As the game ages, and different eras pass, it is only become more impossible to compare one era to another...to me, Reed may not have been the best WR in the game during his era, but he was certainly in the very upper-echelon from about 1988-1994...I really can't understand why his induction, especially amongst Bills fans, has become so controversial. I suspect that many who feel Reed doesn't belong, probably feel that Kelly, Thomas and Levy don't belong either. But those Bills teams, and the star players were as big as any in their time...they are an integeral part of the history of the NFL in the 1990's. One-man wrecking crew in more ways than one!
  19. Thanks for the info...i could have sworn the controversial "no td" call came on that last possession...but I am sure you are right...my memory is fading Terrell Owens, I suspect, is going to be an interesting case when it comes to the HOF. His numbers will blow Andre Reeds out of the water...but I would still think Reed is more deserving of HOF inclusion than TO. Owens has the "fame" and the stats, but he is as devisive a player as there has ever been...if he isn't voted in within a few years of eligibiltiy, I suspect, a bunch of people will grandstand, nationally, on his behalf, and he will get in...eventually.
  20. Yeah, that is how I remember it as well. It is nice that Silver clarified his idiotic statement, but perhaps he should have done his "research" before making it. My guess is he got an earful (twitterful) from PO'd Bills fans (nobody circles the wagons like slighted Bills fans!)...and he thought he was just going to slide it by...besides, if Cris Carter gets in (and I am not arguing at all that he shouldn't) where is the consideration for all of his off the field shennanegans? Reed may have been having some contract issues at that time..I can't remember...if there is one true blemish for me on Andre, it was the way he acted his last few games in Buffalo. He always had a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, it seemed, and felt a little under-appreciated, even amongst Bills fans. Its' too bad, because he really was a great player. But that last season, I do seem to remember him getting a bit emotional about his contract issues...he was obviously on the downside of his career at that point (the player is always the last to know), Flutie was pretty much freezing him out (it may have been justified, but it still hurt Reeds pride)...he acted out a little the last few games, as I recall.
  21. If anyone voting for the HOF doesn't know who Andre Reed is, they really shouldn't be voting. You think if Reed got himself on Dancing With the Stars he would get into the football HOF?
  22. Your point is a little confusing, but I think I know what you are trying to say. I would only counter that with the fact that I am more than sure that anyone voting for the Hall of Fame knows who Andre Reed is, and football fan, no matter where they lived, or what team they root for, knows full well who Andre Reed is, if they were born, say, before 1975. He was one of the top players in the game at his position, for about 5 years, on a team that won a **** load of football games...and his contributions to their winning was very substantial. Do you think people all over the country know who Willie Roaf or Will Shields are? If the answer is no, does that mean they don't deserve HOF recognition? Might as well start making the Tim Tebow bust now.... Or maybe he just doesn't know wtf he is talking about? That is where I am putting my money...besides, did Reed have a huge, clutch time, dropped pass in SB25 that I am forgetting?
  23. Silver is an idiot if he did indeed say that. Reed got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct flag thrown at him in SB 26,because he was incensed that he was being interfered with constantly....this particular flag, as I recall, came on a third down play, and took the Bills out of field goal range...the game was not a blowout yet, so it was viewed as costly. He was also ejected from the 1998 playoff game against the Dolphins, in the final moments, when the ref ruled that he hadn't broken the plane of the endzone as time was running down...as you recall, Flutie was stripped of the ball on the next play by Trace Armstrong...as time ran out. Reed never quit a playoff game... just curious how Silver will view his NFLN co-worker, LaDanian Tomlinson when he is eligible...
  24. I always find threads about the HOF on TBD kind of depressing. There is an increasingly vocal faction amongst Bills fans that seem to relish trashing the Bills Super Bowl era players as if they meant nothing and had no impact on the game. There really is no stated formula or equation for who does or does not belong in the HOF, other than the most basic of qualifications. It really is just a matter of opinion, and garnering of support. The fact that Andre Reed gets so disparaged, by Bills fans disgusts me a little. I often feel like his loudest critics either didn't actually see him play, or weren't old enough to formulate a valid opinion.
